Land of Teenage Dirtbags
I hope you had the time of your life
I walk to the place I'm suppose to meet Gerard, but it looks like he isn't here yet.
I sit on the rock and stare at my hands, thinking about how I'm gonna tell him.
'Ay Gerard, guess what? I'm pregnant! Have fun thinking about that for the rest of your life.'
I'm so stupid. My parents are going to kill me. I might as well start thinking of places to stay after they kick me out.
"Hey," I jump at the sudden sound of Gerard's voice.
"Oh hi," I let out a nervous laugh.
"What's wrong?" He asks furrowing his eyebrows and sitting next to me.
"Um, nothing." I lie. I fucking lied. Just tell him.
"We need to do something to do something for the last day here," He says.
"What do you mean?"
"Like, something to end our summer. You know how some people might have a party or something to kick off the summer? Well it's kind of like that but to end it."
I nod. "So we're having a party?"
"No, we usually just set something on fire," he shrugs.
"Well, I'm great at that," I chuckle.
"Yeah, Frank told me that's why you're here," he laughs.
We plunge into silence and I mess with my lip ring a little bit, mustering up the courage to tell him the big news.
"Um, hey Gerard-"
"Guys!" We turn hearing someone shouting.
"Is that Mikey?" Gerard asks.
"No, Mikey get back here!" And there's Ray.
I roll my eyes and watch as Mikey runs towards us.
"You guys, I think they're gonna try to burn the tree house," he pants.
"No they're not! Jesus Mikey can't you take a joke?"
Mikey let's out a heavy breath through his nose and turns around, walking back.
Ray laughs and follows Mikey.
"Um, okay then," Gerard laughs.
"What were you saying?" He grins.
"Just that, um. Oh, y'know, just that I'm pregnant," I laugh nervously. He stares at me for a minute with a blank expression before laughing.
"Yeah, sure you are," he laughs. I give him a puzzled look and he slowly stops laughing.
"I'm pregnant jokes aren't funny, you know." He says.
"But I'm not joking,"
"Ohhhhh...shit," he turns serious, realizing I'm really being serious. It's almost like I could see all his dreams being crushed.
"You should get an abortion," he says after a long silence.
"What?"
"Well, I'm only seventeen, you're sixteen we're too young to have a kid. Plus we never see each other outside of this shitty haven and you won't be able to come back if you have a baby,"
"Okay, fine. I'll get an abortion." No I won't.
He smiles slightly, "okay, now let's just forget about this and have a kickass last night together,"
I nod and presses his lips against mine. He presses his tongue against my lower lip and I pull away. "What are we gonna burn?" I ask eagerly.
"Seriously? I wanna make-out and all you can think about is burning something?" He asks with a hint of laugh in his voice.
"Yes," I roll my eyes and get up, pulling him with me.
"You know after tomorrow we technically won't be together anymore, right?" He says.
"Shut up and stop trying to ruin my fun,"
"I'll never stop ruining your fun," he laughs.
"What are we gonna burn?" I whine, jumping around everyone.
"Someone put a leash on that kid, jesus christ," Zack says in an annoyed tone.
"Shut up Zachary Martin Luther King Stevens," I say not even thinking before I talk.
"What?" He laughs.
"What?" I repeat, attempting to jump on his back.
"Dammit," I say after falling, my attempt at jumping on him failed.
"The only person you could reach is Frank," Ashley laughs.
"I could probably jump on Dan, too," I argue.
"You do that and I'll kill you," she says looking up from whatever she was doing.
"I hate being the shortest person here," I complain.
"But it makes you the cutest, cause you're like a little kid," Jack says patting my head.
"Shut up," I swat his hand away, but he keeps patting my hair.
"Um, okay that was fucking rude. Because I'M the cutest one here," Gerard raises his eyebrows and points to himself, giving everyone a sassy look.
"You know what'd be really cute? Not pushing me away when I try to kiss you," Frank crosses his arms.
"Frank, stop." Gerard walks away from Frank, making him laugh.
"I love you, Gee!" Frank calls out, laughing. We all laugh while Gerard keeps walking farther, flipping us off.
"Alright seriously, stop," I say moving away from Jack.
"But your hair is so soft," he whines.
"I know, right!" Frank adds, touching my hair.
"Stop!" I move away from him.
"Don't fight it!" Jack yells, hugging me so I can't move.
"Let's just go burn stuff," I groan.
"Okay," he says letting go.
Frank, Jack, and I go off looking for something to burn.
"We should burn one of the cabins-no! The office!" I exclaim.
"Calm down there, you little pyromaniac," Frank says touching my shoulder.
"Yeah, we want to have something to come back to next year," Jack laughs.
"Sorry, I may have gotten a little carried away," I say, calming down.
"Well, that is how you got here. It's okay we forgive you," Frank giggles.
"Wait what?" Jack asks confused.
"I got sent here because I burned down a barn," I answer.
"Oh my god really? Was there anything in it?" He exclaims.
"I don't know," I shrug.
"Badass," he laughs.
"I just had the best idea! Okay, so we pour gasoline all around the lake-like around the very edge, then we light it and bam! A fucking lake of fire!" I'm a genius.
"That would be cool but we don't have gasoline and that sounds dangerous," Frank argues.
"You fucking pansy, the Frank I met on the first day would be all for it. What happened to you, man?" I shake my head.
"Too much freedom, I guess. There are no rules to break," he shrugs.
"Greg probably has gasoline somewhere, how else would he have enough gas to sneak out and buy himself snacks and whine?" Jack says.
"It's probably in that shed we never pay attention to," I suggest.
"Eh, what the hell," Frank shrugs.
"Do either of you have a flashlight?" I ask.
"Yeah, right here," Frank pulls one out of his pocket and hands it to me.
"Thanks, it's fucking dark," I say.
We walk in the direction of the shed.
"I'll be right back. I have to take a piss," Frank says walking off.
"Me too," Jack says walking in the opposite direction. I stand there impatiently, thinking about how lucky guys are they can just pee wherever the hell they want.
I jump forward when I feel someone squeeze my sides, followed by laughter.
I turn around to see Dan laughing at me.
"You fucking bitch," I let out an airy laugh of relief that I wasn't about to be raped or murdered or something.
"What are you doing?" She asks after letting out that little sigh after laughing.
"We're gonna make a lake of fire," I explain.
She gives me a confused look and I explain more.
"Frank, Jack and I are going to the shed and getting gasoline, then we're gonna put it around the lake set it on fire and admire it," I shrug casually.
"Dude that's awesome! I'll go get everybody else!" She says before running off into the dark.
"Okay, I'm back," Frank says stretching. "Wanna hold hands?"
"Ew," I laugh, causing him to make a pouty face.
"Fine, I see how it is. Where's Jack?"
"I'm back," Jack says walking up.
"Okay let's go. Dan said she was going to get everyone else to help us," I say walking.
"Cool," Frank says.
We walk in silence until we reach the little wooden shed.
"Here, give me flashlight," Jack says holding his hand out. I hand it to him and he goes in the shed, leaving Frank and I in the doorway.
"Found some!" He calls.
"Okay, hurry before Greg or Billy find us," Frank says.
"Okay!" He says running out.
I watch as Zack and Alex pour the gas around the edge of the lake.
"Okay, done," Alex sighs, throwing the container.
"I wanna light it!" I scream, throwing my hand up and smacking Dan in the face.
"Gimme," I grab the box of matches from Gerard and run over to the stream of gasoline.
"Whoa, back up," Alex says dragging me back a few feet.
"Hey, what's going on?" We turn when we hear the familiar voice of Billie.
"Hurry, do it!" Ashley, whispers loudly.
I strike the match and toss it, hoping it gets close enough to ignite. Fuck, just barely.
"Shine the flashlight over there," I command.
I light another one and throw it on the gas and watch it immediately burst into a wall of flames.
"Oh my god!" I hear Greg yell.
I back up to get away from the heat and squint at the brightness.
There's a chorus of 'whoa's as everyone including Greg and Billy stare at the fire.
Everyone's silent for a good ten minutes.
"This is the best last night of camp ever," Frank says in monotone.
"Totally," Alex chuckles.
"You guys would be in so much trouble if this weren't so fucking cool," Billie comments.
Everyone eventually get's tired and goes to bed, leaving Gerard, Mikey, and I.
"What are you guys gonna do when you get home?" I ask.
"Go back to sitting in my room all day," Mikey shrugs.
"Why are you even here, Mikey?" I ask out of curiosity.
"Probably so I'll see all you guys and not end up like Gerard," he shrugs.
"And? Did it work?" I ask.
"You guys are all really cool, so, I guess not," he grins.
"So I guess your parent's plan misfired," I laugh.
"Psh, Mikey's just a kid who loves arts and crafts," Gerard giggles.
"Shut up," Mikey laughs gently shoving Gerard.
We sit in silence for a few minutes.
"I'm gonna go to bed, see ya guys," he says before kissing my cheek and leaving.
"In the mood to make-out yet?" Gerard says scooting closer and wiggling his eyebrows.
"Hmm," I say leaning closer. "Nope," I pull back.
"You fucking tease," he snickers.
"I can't stay up forever," he begs.
I press my lips against his and he gently rests his hand on my face.
He brushes his tongue against my bottom lip and I part my lips this time, instead of pulling away.
We part after a while and just sit there.
"Well, I guess I'll go to bed now," I say standing up.
"Goodnight," he says watching as I walk back to my cabin.
*Le Morning*
"Wake up," someone says throwing a backpack on my face.
I groan and open my eyes.
"We gotta go in like an hour," Dan nags.
"Okay, okay, quit nagging me Danielle," I say groggily, knowing how much she hates her real name.
I get up and slowly pack the little things I had out and change into new clothes before heading out with my bags.
"Join the party, sleepyhead," Ray greets me.
I notice the Thug Chug and everyone loading their stuff onto it.
"Here, I'll help you with those," Ray says taking two of the three bags I was carrying.
We walk over to the van and throw my stuff in.
"This is it," I whisper.
Ray sighs and I look over and smile at him.
"You okay?" He asks. I nod and look down.
"Okay, let's go!" The van driver yells at us.
"You told me we had an hour," I yell at Dan.
"Oops," she shrugs.
I climb on and take the seat I sat in on the way here; the very back window seat.
Frank sits next to me, Gerard in front of us. Everyone takes the same seats as before and Bob squeezes in the second row.
I watch the camp grow smaller the farther away we get and think about how ironic it is that one of the last things my mom said to me before I left was "Just don't get pregnant."
Notes
It took me like three and a half hours to write this.
So yeah this is the end, hope you like it because I had lost the will to live at least once because focusing is not my thing.
Fun Fact: up until around the chapter 'girl time' this was a Frank fic.
Fun Fact #2: I suck at typing.
