"Hey kid! What are you Doing out here all alone? Where are your parent?!" I was nervous at this point, frantically looking in every direction for his parents or someone.
"The bad men took them. They shot them and took them. But my mommy and daddy told me to run. So, I did. I didn't want the bad men to take me too." This kid couldn't have been more then 8 or 9. The Draculoids took her parents. She witnessed them get shot.
"Okay, listen sweetie, you need to come with us. You need to come with us so the bad men don't get you. But, first you need to tell me something, okay?"
"Okay."
"Which way were the bad men coming from?" She pointed in the direction we where driving. If we hadn't found this poor, little girl than we would probably have gotten killed.
"Okay, well how about you come and sit in the back? You can sit next to my friends, JetStar and KobraKid. Sound good?"
"I guess, let's just go, so the bad men don't get us."
"Sounds good. C'mon." She hopped into the middle in the back. I made a sharp turn and drove east. The Dracs were north. Where we were headed. We extended are drive by about a day and a half. But, we couldn't get caught.
"Why aren't we heading north?" JetStar said. He sounded confused as fuck, but I can understand why.
"Munchkin over here," I motioned to the kid sitting next to him. "Said there were Dracs where she was coming from."
"Well, how the hell did she get away from them?"
"I don't know why don't you-"
"Mommy and Daddy told me to run before the bad men took them. They said I would see them again someday, so I know they will come back for me" The Munchkin said, cutting me off. I jerked the car to a stop. That broke my heart. I had watched everything in my whole life, my brothers whole life, all my friends lives, get torn to shreds. But, nothing broke my heart like what this child just said. We all just looked at her. "What. I will see them again, right?"
"Yes, someday." Said KobraKid fighting back tears. Hugging the poor kid. He knew what it felt like to loose everything. But this child, she was very, very young. Hunger them him and I were when we lost everything. We knew how it felt to have a family, that is something this little girl will only have a vague memory of. Something she will forget in time. We are her family now. I remember being being 13 and watching my parents get torn away from me. KobraKid, or Mikey as he used to be called, was only ten. Are parents got dragged out of our house and eventually killed. That was the last time we saw them, as the Dracs dragged them out of our front door. We never saw them again.
