I'm Not Okay!

False Smiles and Black Eyes

Gerard Way:
“Oh great, we're here.” I said sarcastically, of course, and rolled my eyes.

“I know! Aren't you just so excited?” My mother gleamed at me.

“Ecstatic,” I looked out the window, seeing students walking around, getting out of their cars and talking to their friends.

“This is going to be an exciting year!” Frank said, mocking my moms’ enthusiasm.

I saw Mikey through the side mirror, looking back at Frank. “I just can’t wait.” Mikey played along, smiling cause he was liking this game.

I didn’t blame him. It was pretty fun being sarcastic, and since I did it every day, I was best at it.

“You know Mikey, if we don’t get killed this year by the uh, I don’t know, jocks, cheerleaders, the other athletes, hell, even the geeks, maybe you and I should try out to be a part of one those groups.” I said, trying not to smile.

“I think I’ll be a part of the swimming team, and you’ll be a part of the academic club, won’t you?” I said, glaring at him with a smile through the mirror.

Mikey Way:
“That is not funny Gerard!” I leaned forward and punched him on the shoulder from the back seat.

He winced through his laughter, so I hit him again, hoping he would shut up. I hated when he mocked me like that.

“If it’s not funny, then why is Frank still laughing?” He asked, looking back at a red faced Frank.

“I-I can’t…breathe. My stomach hurts too much.” He said through laughter.

It wasn’t that funny, not at all. I just got out of the car, sick and tired of being around them right now. My mother followed. She was too excited. Gerard couldn’t even swim, and they always mocked me for being the smarter one.

When he was little, he almost drowned, so now he won’t even get into the water. Maybe that was his sarcastic point. Everyone else was following me, but I don’t even know where I’m going. They were still laughing, mocking me so I decided to take back.

I spun around to look at them. “Well at least I don’t need floaties to swim.” I threw at Gerard.

He stopped laughing instantly and began to glare at me. Frank laughed even harder.

I spun on him. “What are you laughing at Frank? You are such a poser! You actually believe that girlslove you? They don’t even like you!” I began to yell.

He definitely stopped laughing then. I instantly regretted saying those things, because now my eyes were closed, but when I opened them, I was looking up at the sky. I was lying on the ground in a daze.

Did I black out? My eyes and my lips started to throb with pain, making me sick to my stomach. I had been punched twice, in the eye and then in the mouth. I already knew whose punch belonged to whom. Gerard was pissed the most, so he had been the one to hit me in the eye. He knew it would hurt the most there. Frank decided to follow up by hitting me in the mouth.

“You are in big trouble!” Linda yelled, rushing over to come check on me. “Are you okay?” She asked.

I sighed. “Sure Li-mom.” I had to make sure I didn’t say her first name again.

“Well good!” She said, hitting me on my chest.

“Ow, what was that for?” I asked in surprise that she actually just hit me…and not them!

“You deserved it, you deserved it all! You shouldn’t have said that to your brother!”

I tried sitting up quickly but the pain began to rush to my head. “Oh, so I’m the criminal now?” I asked in anger.

She just stood up and left with Gerard and Frank. All I could do was just stay there, lying lifelessly on the ground.

I swear my mother hates me. She always treated Gerard better than me and always played favorites.

“God,” I looked up at the sky. “Send a lightning bolt down on me, please. End it all.” I muttered, hoping that, if there were a god, he would do it.

Nothing…the cloudless day brought me no hope. I sighed and got up, wincing as I did so after hitting my head on the cement, and began to look around for them but there were already gone. As I expected. Man, did I love my life or what.

I started walking, looking for someone to ask where the main office was. I’m sure that’s where they were. Hope not, because I really didn’t want to see them right now, but I knew that’s where we were supposed to go.

Ray Toro:
My parents and I were all sitting in the office, waiting for the principal to invite us into his office to meet him for the first time. I wasn’t too excited about it, and neither was my father, but my mom was overly excited. Just like my dad, I just wanted to get out of here.

“The principal will see you now.” His secretary told us, and when she did, I jumped at the sound of her voice.

It had sounded familiar. I looked up at her. Haven’t I seen her from somewhere before?

“Come on Raymond,” My mother waved her hand to get back my attention from dazing at the secretary.

“Great,” I grumbled to myself, but my dad heard me.

“Oh hush up Ray. It’s not that bad.” My dad hid his lie under that big smile he gave me.

The smile wasn’t good enough. It was obvious that he tried to keep from spilling his guts.

I gave him a very unconvincing smile. He just sighed, giving me an annoyed look and waved at me to make me hurry up. I did as I was told. Once we got in, I sat down in one of the two chairs in front of the principal’s desk.

“Uh-uh,” My father cleared his throat.

“Sorry,” I mumbled as I got out of the chair that he was supposed to sit in and not me, his only child.

It’s not because I’m lonely to want a sibling so badly, it’s just that I'm tired of living in the fucking family, so maybe if I had a sibling, I wouldn’t have to be the one my parents regretted having. My parents always seem to regret me, that or just having me as their child. I knew they would prefer anyone but me. Well, at least I knew there was one person they wouldn’t ever want as a son. Bert McCracken. They can’t stand him.

I don’t blame them at all, but he was cool and uh, well I shouldn’t say he’s a good friend, but he is fun to be around, most of the time. He was best friends with Gerard, another good friend of mine. They always hung out together. I hardly ever see Ger’ without Bert unless it was at school last year. They seemed more like brothers than Gerard and Mikey did.

Anyway, I can’t live with my parents around. I couldn’t do anything involving having a life. I swear they just torture me because they hated me.
The principal was just rambling on about something, but I was too into my thoughts to care. Well, actually, it doesn’t matter, because I’ll always never care. My father cut my thoughts short.

“Raymond, you better start listening to me now!” He said through clenched teeth.

“Uh, yeah dad?” I accidentally said. I silently cursed myself as my mother got onto me again.

She is so proper that she always tells me to watch my tongue when I said something in properly. I was supposed to say ‘Yes, father’. Sometimes I just want to stick my tongue out and actually look at it as if I were doing as I was told.

“Raymond, watch your tongue!” She waved her white gloved covered finger at me.

“Yes, mother, my apologies.” I said, hoping she would let it go now.

She smiled and looked at my father, not my dad, but my father. I imagined sticking my tongue out at them again.

“Now, did you or did you not hear what I just said?” He asked, probably hoping that he wouldn’t have to repeat himself.

“Uh-” I began, but then my mother shot me a look before I could finish, about to tell me to watch it again when she was interrupted by yelling and someone barging into the room. It was Linda, Gerard and Mikey’s mother.

“Hey, what’s up Ray?” Gerard poked his head around his mother.

I nodded as a response, afraid to answer because I didn’t want to be corrected again by my mother again.

“You can’t go in there!” The same secretary shouted at Linda, trying to keep them from coming in.

She was so beautiful. She looked so young for a secretary, so sweet, so- I lost my train of thought as I stared at her, trying to push them out.

“You can’t go in there!” She repeated.

“It’s okay, Miss Williams.” The Principal said, waving them inside.

Miss Williams? Well her last name didn’t ring any bells, so no help there.

Frank Iero:
“Well excuse me, but we were here first!” Ray’s dad protested.

“Yes, now I do ask that you leave.” His mom was by his side on this one.

I really disliked his parents. They were just a pair of snobby, rich people who were just too proper. They always treated everyone else like shit. Damn I hated spoiled rich people. They always think they can get whatever they want and treat people the way they want. Wait…I just thought about that, and realized, of course they can! They’re rich, of course they can do whatever they want! Damn I hated being poor, and I hated rich people.

Well, except for Ray of course. He wasn’t like any other snotty, spoiled rich kid. That’s because he wasn’t ever treated the way people like that usually treat their children. Poor Ray…well, not literally, but I felt sorry for him.

“Excuse me, but our appointment started three minutes ago. So don’t mess with me right now, woman!” Linda got in her face.

“I beg your pardon, but you can’t talk to my wife like that!” Ray’s dad stood in between them.

“It’s okay Richard. We don’t need this right now. Let's just go.” His mom tried to comfort her husband by rubbing his shoulders as she spoke.

He gave Linda one more glare before looking back at his wife. “Fine,” He took her hand and lead her out.

“Nice,” I held up my hand to fist Ray.

“Yeah, wasn’t it?” He said sarcastically, ignoring the gesture.

“Ray!” His father yelled for him.

“Coming!” He yelled back to him.

“See ya later.” I said, trying not to laugh.

“Maybe, if I’m not grounded.” He threw over his shoulder before leaving with his parents.

Gerard Way:
“Hey girl, what’s up?” I began to flirt with a girl that was sitting down in one of the chairs in the office.

I had just walked up to her and sat down. She rolled her eyes and scooted away from me over a couple of seats. I followed pursuit.

“What is your problem?” She snapped as I sat next to her again.

“You are, sugar.” I made a kissy face at her.

She looked away and tried to ignore me as if I weren’t there.

“Hey, hey.” I took her face in my hand and made her look at me. “You wanna go and make out with me in the parking lot?” I asked, wagging my eyebrows up and down.

She scoffed. “Jackass,” She said as she got up to quickly left the office.

“Hey, that’s an awful word missy.” I shook my finger at her.

She flipped me off and made a quick exit through the office doors.

“Well fine then,” I said as I got up and went into the principal’s office where my mother was and where Frank stood in the doorway.

Frank Iero:
I saw what had just happened with Ger’ and that girl, so, I went after her while Linda talked to the principal.

“Hey, wait up!” I shouted to her.

Gerard scowled at him. “You ass!”

I threw a smile over my shoulder at him as I ran after her. I got into the hallway from where we had come in. I saw her walking out of the main entrance, but I kept following. I stepped out of the building and looked around for which direction she had gone. I saw her heading towards another building. Man she looked good in that short skirt that was a part of the girl’s uniforms.

I need to get closer! “Excuse me!” I tried to tag her down. “Hey, wait a minute!”

She must have not heard me, so I ran to catch up with her. “Hello!” I got to her and put my hand on her shoulder to get her attention.

She spun around, surprised at first, but then began to smile politely. He face was lit up from the glare of her binder reflecting from the sun.

“Yes?” She asked, flashing a gleaming smile at me.

I noticed the twinkle in her eye and the flawlessness of her skin. I couldn’t say anything. “Uh…um,” That was all that came out of my mouth.

She just blinked her sparkling blue eyes at me, waiting for a proper response.

“Uh-I…So are you doing anything this weekend?” I asked in a very unconfident tone, which was very unlike me. I was usually good at flirting and knew how to talk to a girl, but with her, I just don’t know what was wrong with me.

Her smile started to fade. “That’s sweet of you to ask, especially after all of that chasing after me, but I have a boyfriend.” She playfully smirked.

She knew I had been following her, and she knew I liked a chase. I wonder if she was making up a boyfriend so she didn’t have to go out with me.

“If you don’t believe me, he’s right over there.” She said in her sweet, soft voice that gave me the chills even though it was over 80° outside.

When I looked over to where she pointed, my face fell. The guy she had pointed to was a big, tall muscular jock holding up a hockey stick. I can take him…I think, but for when I turned my head back around for her, she was gone.

“Where the hell did she go?” I silently said to myself.

“You know, I’m not doing anything this weekend.” A voice from behind me said.

I spun around, being greeted by a damn preppy ass cheerleader. “Uh, no thanks.” I mumbled, walking right past her.

“Well I’ll talk to you later!” She waved.

“Ha, sure ya will.” I muttered, heading back inside with my tail between my legs.

Mikey Way:
I opened the office door and went in. A cool breeze from the AC had swept and hit me as I stepped inside, feeling good against the open cut on my lip.

I walked up the first secretary, who was older than the second one and sat behind a dinosaur of a computer. “Excuse me, but can you tell me where to find-”

She looked up and gasped. “Oh dear, what happened to you?” She asked as she gently took my face in her hands. She was worried about how blood was gushing from my lips and the big purple bruise on my eye. Well at least it wasn’t all that bad, because nothing was swollen yet.

“I’m fine,” I tried to assure her.

“Well can I get you an ice pack or something?” She asked while standing to get one anyway even though I hadn’t answered her yet.

“Uh, sure, but can you please tell me where my mother is?” I asked, beginning to get a little frustrated with her.

She gave me a look that I couldn’t read. “Oh, yeah. You must be the other son.” She grimaced slightly. “They’re in the principal’s office.” She pointed at a separate office to the right.

What did Gerard do this time? Last year, he was sent to the principal’s office so many times, I had lost count, and so did he. “Thanks,” I said, still irritated.

“Honey, I’ll get you that ice pack in a second, okay?” She said as the phone began to ring. I nodded before going in.

“There is no fighting in this school.” The principal was telling them, mostly Gerard, since he was going to be a student here.

They all looked up at me as I came in. “Too late for that,” Gerard had muttered, looking at me harshly.

I rolled my eyes and sat down in an empty chair next to him while my mom stood.

“Are you okay?” The principal asked, looking horrified at me. I nodded but didn’t say anything. “Well I’m guessing that’s your other son, Mikey?” He looked up at Linda.
She nodded and sighed. She made it clear that she was disappointed by that fact. Well thanks mom, love you too. Oh well, it’s not like I wanted to be her son either.
“Well, alright. I think I about covered it all.” He said as he got up and shook their hands. “It was a…pleasure, meeting all of you.” He tried to smile.

“Not,” I read Gerard’s lips.

“Uh, sorry that you weren’t here for everything Mickey-”

Mikey,” I cut him off to correct him before he could finish.

“Yeah, whatever. Let’s go,” She tried ushering us out.

“Here you go Mikey,” He gave me a handbook for the school. It was thick, just about 100 pages. “All of the school policies are in there.” He pointed out, making sure to mention that we follow them.

I just looked at it like, “And why the hell are you giving me this damn thing? You ass,” but took it anyway to be polite.

“Have a nice day,” He said, walking us quickly out the door. I just nodded and left with the both of them, just as eager to leave.

“Well that was interesting.” Gerard said sarcastically to Linda, completely ignoring me.

“Yeah, well, let’s just go home.” She said, also not bothering to look at me.

“Oh, here ya ago honey.” The secretary I had spoken to earlier said, handing me an ice pack.

“Thanks,” I said quietly. I wasn’t so used to the hospitality from anyone. She was actually the first I think, to show me any true kindness.

Gerard Way:
Right when I was about to open the door to leave, it swung open and hit me square in the face.

“Ow! Motherfucker!” I yelled, holding my hand over my nose.

Frank poked his head through the crack of the door to look at who he had just hit. “Whoops,” He shrugged and smiled sheepishly.

“I’ll whoops you!” I raised my hand, about to slap him in the face but someone caught my arm. I turned and saw my mother holding onto my wrist to stop me from hitting him.

Frank stood back up straight from ducking. “Yeah, that’s right. You better be afraid.” I told him as I snatched my hand back.

“Well at least I don’t have to get my mother to protect me during a fight.” Frank stuck his tongue out at me.

Right after he had said that, mommy had did my job for me and swatted the back of his head. “Ouch!” He laughed.

“Love ya, mommy.” I gleamed as I gave her a hug, bragging.

Then I thought, wait a minute. I don’t need my mother’s assistance. So I stood up, walked out pushing my chest up like I actually looked like that and passed by Frank. I jerked my head up to say, “Want some of this?” He did it back to me but couldn’t stop laughing. I walked like that the whole way to the parking lot, but after that I had raced Frank to the car. Without saying anything, we just glared at each other and started running. I felt like I was in middle school again. I beat him to the car. Yay!

“Ha, beat ya!” He told me.

Okay…so I lied. In my mind, I had won, now shut up, alright!

“Gosh, you make me wanna cry sometimes, Frank.” Another sob, sob for the day.

“Yeah, whatever.” He rolled his eyes, not believing in my acting skills.

Frank Iero:
“I win, ha-ha.” I gloated, doing a little dance.

“Fuck off,” He mumbled as he climbed in the back seat.

That was the prize. Winner gets the front seat, right next Mama Way. Everyone else caught up and got into the car. Mikey took the same seat he had last time. We were on our way back to their house.

Even though today was supposed to be the first day of school, we just met the principal for today. Mostly since we kind of ruined Linda’s other plans to make us go to school today. I can’t believe that I have to spend the rest of my high school years there, and that I would have to spend them all wearing that ugly ass uniform, along with that stupid, red and blue stripe tie. Man, did I fucking hate ties.

There was only one good thing that came out of today. I had seen the most beautiful girl in the entire world. Her perfect face, glistening smile, and that special spark in her eyes really made me want her more than any other girl I have ever seen. She was perfect, and I had to make her mine, no matter what it takes.

(Fair Warning: There is some Boy X Boy content from here on down. It's only two guys kissing, but it still might not be comfortable for some readers. This is just about the only scene throughout the entire story, but I just wanted to warn you. Like I said in the summary, this was written when I was 13, almost 6 years ago for me. This is the last and only story of mine that will have this kind of content)

Gerard Way:
We had finally gotten home and we were just now walking through the door. I was tired and wanted to take a nap. So I did. I wanted to sleep for hours and not wake up until…ever. I loved to sleep, did it all of the time. Everyone always gets so pissed off about it for when I fall asleep while their talking. It’s not my fault their boring.

I walked into my bedroom and went to lie down. My throat hurt from his damn tie. My body felt uncomfortable in this uniform just as well. I had decided to take it all off, and I mean all.

I stripped off all of the prep school clothes and was down to my boxers, but then Frank had decided to walk in.

“Dude, I was almost naked! You don’t just walk in on somebody like that.” I told him, covering myself up a little, pretending to be shy.

“Mind if I join?” He asked me.

I wasn’t the only one who was a little…curious with my sexuality. Bert was first, and was the one who got Frank and I to become at ease with being who we were and who we liked. We were wondering if Mikey was next, but I knew my brother better than anyone else and I was sure it wasn’t going to happen.

“Yeah, sure.” I scooted over to the other side of the bed and pated my hand on the spot where I wanted him to sit.

He climbed in next to me. “Here, let me get that for you.” I said as I grabbed a hold of his shirt and started to pull it off of him, while he began kissing me. Now he left in just his jeans. I started to unbutton them.

“Gerard, are you trying to get into my pants?” He asked, just before I leaned up and kissed him on the lips to make him stop talking. He giggled silently underneath.

I pulled away. “Oh, you know it.” I said back to him.

“Well then don’t stop.” He winked.

Frank Iero:
He got my pants off and laid down so I could crawl over him. I started to kiss his chest, instead of his lips. He played with my hair, running his fingers through it. He wrapped his legs around me, keeping me from moving.

Then I started to kiss up his chest, going toward his face, kissing his chest to his neck, going for his lips at last. We were still kissing so intently, until a thought came across my mind, an image of the most beautiful thing on the planet that I have ever seen, and I had forgotten all about her.

“Why did you stop?” He asked me.

I shrugged. “Sorry Ger’, I just got a little side tracked.” I told him, looking away from his face.

“Well don’t do it again.” He ordered, grabbing my face to pull me back in, but I just couldn’t let him.

I didn’t want to do this anymore. She was in my head, and she was never going to come out. I got up from my position and sat on the edge of the bed with my back mostly towards him.

“What the hell dude? Stop doing pulling away!” He began to yell. He wanted to keep going, but I was done.

I wanted to get out of here. I decided to get up and put my clothes back on, but before I even got of the bed completely, he grabbed onto my arm and stopped me. He was beginning to do that a lot, and it was really pissing me off.

“What?” I shouted, getting frustrated. I just wanted to leave.

“Why are you leaving?” He asked. “You have some unfinished business here.” He shook his finger at me.

“Well let’s just leave it there then, shall we?” I said as I had to jerk my arm back from him, again.

He rolled his eyes at me. I got dressed and headed for their garage. That’s where we performed our band practice, and that’s where my guitar was. The only way I could get her or Gerard who was beginning to annoy me out of my head was by playing.
