Party Poison
New Friends
The bus grinded to a halt in front of Pine View High School, a most dreaded place indeed. Gerard and Robin let the stampede of teens pass them before stepping into the aisle. They followed the wave of people towards the school's double-doored main entrance. As the first bell for homeroom rang they reluctantly ended their conversation on the random topic of delectable breakfast foods. "Bye, Gerard! See you later!" Gerard smiled at her warmly. "Later, Robin!" Robin grinned back with enthusiasm.
Since Robin's homeroom this school year was that of Mr.Verdi's she pushed on through the crowd to make it to his classroom. Her so called "best friends" were in the same homeroom as well. She didn't really think of them in the best of terms. Whenever she was around them she always felt excluded and unwanted. She had a difficult time understanding why she was the one who always had to "play second banana," so to speak. Often times, whilst Alice and Maya carried on, she was left to sulk.
She tried waiting for a slight break in their "oh so hilarious conversation," but she rarely succeeded. If she even got a response, it was usually a blank stare, and sometimes she even got to add to the discussion for a brief moment. She didn't want to be rude, but at times she even attempted to communicate by practically shouting. In those cases she knew her volume was not the issue. She felt like something was wrong with her, but one day she thought she had found the cause behind her troubles at long last.
On this day she happened to be surfing the internet's selection of psychology websites (she hoped to gain a career in it later on in life) when suddenly, she happened upon a surprising bit of information. It was in this snippet of information that she found the reason behind her dilemma. It was a paragraph on a mental disorder labeled "narcissism"; it listed the many symptoms of the disorder. She had heard of narcissism previously, but didn't know much about it, until now that was. Maya just so happened to match up with many of the listed behavioral clues. Robin jumped for joy upon discovering what caused her troubling sadness over her exclusion. She however, puzzled over whether to say something or not, and how she could overcome the challenge.
Robin was deep in thought about her problem which, was saying something because she had difficulties focusing on anything since depression hit her. Out of nowhere, on her venture to class, she was interrupted by a sharp jolt of pain to her left side. Someone had accidentally nudged a point of their binder into her hip. "Sorry about that." The high-pitched burst of sound came from what looked to be a short, skinny, red headed freshman girl. "There, there. I promise I won't be angry if you promise not to devour my soul, ginger girl."
Robin immediately regretted what she said immensely for, she had a quirky way of speaking. People always thought that she was odd because of this and more. Instead of the usual reaction she received after such comments, the girl giggled kindly. "I think that's a fair deal," the girl replied "Besides, I get close to the person before I devour their soul." She then leaned into Robin and laughed maniacally "Muahahahahahahahaha!"
"Speaking of getting close, what's your name?" Robin inquired. "My name's Carly Abbey. What's yours?" "Robin Reid." "Like the bird?" Carly asked jokingly. "Yep'."Just then Robin noticed the regular crowd of rushing people pouring into classrooms as the late bell for homeroom rang abruptly.
"What lunch period do you have?" Carly questioned. "Sixth." "Me too!" Carly exclaimed. "Well see ya' then." Carly said. "Bye." Robin replied before rushing off to her locker. She clumsily ran to her locker to retrieve the neccesary books, and walked through the threshold of her homeroom. Before she knew what hit her, a pink slip was thrusted upon her roughly. She awaited the stern lecture she was about to receive in front of the whole class.
Notes
Today is just a plain old Saturday, so I decided to update again.
For anyone who doesn't know, there is supposedly a myth that gingers, or red heads, eat people's souls. I have absolutely no clue as to how this came about.
