Party Poison
Lunchtime
Finally, lunchtime had arrived; Robin was famished. The early bell for lunch rang throughout the school. Robin journeyed to her locker whilst, keeping her gaze down seeing, that she didn't like to make eye contact with strangers/acquaintances or anyone she wasn't speaking to.When she reached her locker, she deposited her books in an orderly fashion. She grabbed her packed lunch and thusly continued her way to the cafeteria.
She quickly flipped a lock of her long brown and red hair over her face, and continued onwards through the large metal doors. She anxiously entered the cafeteria while still keeping her gaze fixed on the floor. The cafeteria currently held approximately three hundred grazing teens. She was one of the last people to reach the cafeteria. There were about forty tables that could hold about eight students each.
"Hey, Robin!" she heard Maya's confident voice call. "Come sit with us!" Robin's eyes darted around the giant room speedily. She saw Maya and Alice sitting at a table with some other unfamiliar girls. At least she thought they were unfamiliar until, they turned around to face Robin. Her heart dropped into her stomach, it was Courtney and her green eyed friend.
Robin gulped and walked towards their table with a slight fake smile. "Hey, guys." Robin said her voice dripping with fake glee. "Hey, Robin." Alice said, genuinely happy to see her old friend on the first day back to school. "We were just talking to Courtney and Britney, our new friends. You wanna' sit with us?" "Um, well, I sure would love to, but I promised my two of my other friends that I would sit with them." Robin responded unsteadily.
"Oh, that's alright, sweetie. Who are your friends?" Courtney asked. "Oh great." Robin thought. "She's one of those people who goes around calling everyone 'sweetie'." She groaned mentally. Quietly she responded with "Gerard Way and Carly Abney." "Oh." Courtney said with a voice that let her b****iness shine through; Courtney paused for a moment with a look of sheer disdain. "Well, whatever Gerard says about me isn't true. Okay?" Courtney said. "Sure. Whatever you say, Courtney." Robin said kindly with a smile to avoid conflict. "Good." Courtney said contentedly.
"Well, it was nice meeting you, Robin." the green eyed girl that Robin assumed to be Britney said. "Yeah. Bye, Robin." Maya added with a sneer. "Bye everyone." Robin said weakly. She walked away, scanning the crowded room for Gerard and Carly. She had forgotten to tell them about each other; she wanted to sit with both of them.
She finally located Gerard and Carly; they were both sitting at a table with another guy she hadn't seen around before. He had medium length dirty blonde hair and wore glasses. She started towards them, happy to be away from Maya, Alice, Courtney, and Britney. "Hi, everyone." Robin greeted enthusiastically. "Hey, Robin." Gerard lit up like a Christmas tree as Robin took a seat across from him.
Carly and the new guy continued to chat up a storm with fervor. "Oh, hey. I never introduced you to my younger brother." Gerard said while pointing to the boy to his left. "What?" Mikey asked. "This is Robin, Mikey."Gerard said. "I met her on the bus today." "Yeah, I kinda' saw him run into the side of the bus." Robin chuckled as she mentioned this. "Oh, you saw that." Gee said while looking at the table and rubbing the back of his neck.
"Awww, is somebody embarrassed of their awful coordination." Mikey taunted. Carly, Robin, and Mikey laughed at Gerard's reaction lovingly; his cheeks burned brightly and he looked humiliated. "It's alright, Gee. I'm not very coordinated myself." she reassured. Gerard looked happier already. "Thanks." he smiled at Robin. Robin nodded warmly as she reached for her baloney sandwich.
She opened the wrapper and began to munch on it hungrily. It tasted just as good as a baloney sandwich could taste. She wanted to continue eating, but her hunger quickly faded. She ended up finishing just a couple bites more than half of a sandwich. She sipped some water and put her food away in her pack. Carly and Mikey continued their mindless blathering over their favorite horror movies. Gerard stopped paying attention to the conversation; he noticed that Robin hadn't eaten much.
"Why aren't you eating, Robin?" Gee implored. "Oh, I'm just not all that hungry. I mean, I thought I was hungrier, but I'm full now." Robin informed. "Well, if you get hungry later during English, just tell me. I'll sneak you in a granola bar." he offered with a grin. "Thank you, Gee." she responded thankfully. Gerard grew even more nervous about Robin as the school day progressed. "What if she had an eating disorder, or something? After all, she was fairly skinny." he thought.
