My enemy. My everything.

012

Mikey decided he was going to throw his party just like he planned, but put it off for a week. He wanted Kitzie's bruises to heal completely. He knew after he and Frank had argued and Frank had accidentally frightened Kitzie that she wouldn't want to be alone with him at her house. Mikey couldn't control the possessiveness that ran wild in his mind when he thought of her. They had made up after their little misunderstanding and she had forgiven him. She even apologised the next day for upsetting him.

Mikey invited people from school for his party that weekend. He tried to keep the invite list small but he knew other people would turn up anyway. In the back of his mind he wondered what Kitzie would wear, how people would react to seeing them together, and how to stop himself from kissing her which was something they hadn't done since the first kiss they shared a week before.

As he prepared the house and put all the fragile things safely away he could see Kitzie silently panicking. She looked conflicted. He knew not to ask her what was wrong, because he knew what it was that was bothering her. Kitzie hadn't been at school since the attack and this would be the first time people had seen her. Only a few physical signs remained on her body and she assured Mikey they could be hidden under make up.

It was getting harder for Mikey to cover his jealousy when Kitzie talked to someone else. Even when it was his brother. She had opened up to Gerard in the past week and it bothered him to see them bonding. He had to stop himself from punching a wall when he saw her hug both Ray and Frank one afternoon. They had made a trip to the store and bought her back a packet of gummy bears. Kitzie must have thought it was the sweetest thing because she embraced them as if it was nothing. To Mikey her hugging them was like a knife to the gut. He knew the amount of anger he felt whenever she had contact with other males was ridiculous. But Mikey had found the only girl he ever wanted to know inside out and she wanted to talk to the others just as much.

He did have to remind himself that he was the only person she would sleep in a bed with. She did that every night. Mikey would hold her and he woke up if she had a nightmare and calmed her down. One one occasion he woke to Kitzie practically trying to attach herself to him in her sleep. She had clawedat him to get closer and was whimpering. She seemed like she was getting better and starting to cope but then when she had a nightmare it was like she was reliving everything.

On this day he noticed how normal she was trying to behave. She didn't want to ruin his party for him. Mikey needed to unwind and Kitzie was seeing how protective he was becoming of her. Whenever she was having a conversation with Gerard or Frank or Ray, Mikey would call her away for some reason. But he'd done so much for her she wasn't going to deny him of her time if he wanted it. She'd do just about anything for him. A deep part of her that she tried to ignore also didn't want to see his angry side. She'd been on the wrong end of that too many times and knew how scary it could be when it was directed at her. In the end she decided it was best just to keep him happy. She didn't want to think he'd ever snap on her but how could she really be sure. She felt like a bad person just thinking about it. He'd proved he wasn't capable of violence towards her anymore but a part of her would always wonder.

Kitzie snuck away from the boys to get ready for the party. She kept her clothes reasonably conservative not wanting to attract any attention to herself but not enough so that she looked like she was hiding herself on purpose. She styled her hair in loose curls that shadowed one of her more stubborn bruises near her eye. Kitzie wasn't comfortable with the amount of layers of make up she had to wear to make sure nobody would suspect anything.

When she looked at herself in the mirror she made a deal with herself that nothing had happened to her. She would spend the night acting like her usual self. Talk to friends of hers from school and tell them she had been sick. She would convince herself that she had been sick. She told herself over and over again, Nothing happened. You've been sick. Nothing happened.

People started to arrive. Mikey knew more people would come than the amount he had invited but even so it was still much more than he expected. He went upstairs to see Kitzie when the first people arrived leaving Frank, Ray and Gerard to amuse them and show them where to put their drinks.

"Hey Kitten." He said walking into his room where Kitzie was making his bed.

"Hi Mikey. Shouldn't you be downstairs?"

"Yeah, i just wanted to talk to you first." Mikey closed the door so they'd have privacy. "You'll be ok tonight right?"

Kitzie sighed. "Yes I will be absolutely fine. I don't want you to think about me. Just enjoy the night."

"How can I not think about you?" Mikey said quietly. "I just want to make sure you're ok."

"Why wouldn't I be ok? Nothing happened." She suggested. Mikey knew what she was doing, and he would go along with it if it was what she wanted.

"Okay. Nothing happened. Great. Do you want me to get you a drink?" He smiled.

"God yes. Vodka red bull."

Mikey felt so uncomfortable saying it. But he couldn't stop himself. "Just one thing... I don't want you talking to alot guys tonight ok?"

She raised an eyebrow at him. "Your kidding right?"

"No I'm not."

"Mikey. I know alot of guys from school. I'm not going to ignore them if they talk to me. Why can't I talk to guys?"

He looked over her body, he could see she was trying to cover up but she was still so appealing. He barely thought about what he was saying. He just wanted to grab hold of her and kiss her. Claim her. "Don't want them getting the wrong idea." He mumbled, still lost in her features.

If Mikey was paying attention he would see how irritated she was. "Why dont I just go get my own drink hey? But I'll make sure I don't make eye contact with any members of the opposite sex. Wouldn't want you to be angry at me for attracting violence."

Mikey snapped out of it. She was angry. "Oh come on Kitz you know what I mean."

"No I dont. What your saying doesn't make sense." She stormed past him out of the room and headed for the stairs.

"Dont walk away from me." Mikey demanded and she stopped.

"I don't want to think about this shit tonight. Be reasonable Mikey."

"Oh you think I'm being unreasonable?"

"Yes."

"Right. Well if you dont want to listen to me just go ahead and enjoy yourself and dont bother me if something goes wrong."

Kitzie scoffed in shock of Mikey's comment. "Fine. No problem. I won't bother you at all." She said sarcastically.

********************************************

Mikey was fuming. But he knew the best way to get to her would be to pretend he didn't care. He hoped so anyway. Three hours of mingling and drinking and watching drunk people dance and hit on each other went by. Kitzie hadn't even made eye contact with him the whole time.

She was ignoring him and it definitely made Mikey angrier and angrier. His response was to continue to ignore her and he forced himself not to be in the same room as her as much as possible. After four hours Kitzie caved. She saw Mikey at the refrigerator getting another drink and approached him while nobody else was around.

"Can we not fight anymore?" She asked.

Mikey wanted to give in. Really wanted to. But he had seen her talking to one of Gerard's friends. She had been laughing at some joke he made and Mikey's paranoid mind told him she was almost being flirtatious. That was not okay with him. "I have nothing to say to you Kitzie." He got a drink and walked away without another look at her.

********************************************

Mikey knew ignoring her was working. He didn't pay any attention to her but she stayed closeby. It was unfair really and he knew that. But his plan was working and ignoring her obviously made her nervous enough not to talk to anymore guys. He overheard the lies she told the girls who'd asked where she'd been the past couple of weeks. He even heard her say she'd be returning to school the next week.

Another hour passed and she approached him again while he was talking to Frank, Ray and a couple of other friends from school. She gently took his arm, getting his attention from the group. "Please Mikey." She said calmly but with emotion in her eyes.

"Can I help you babe?" Mikey said coldly, casually raising his eyes to her. She shook her head and walked away.

"Cold as ice Mikey." Frank shook his head.

"What are you doing bro?" Ray asked.

One of Mikey's other friends Liam, had a big smile on his face. "Kitzie Powell is trying to get your attention? What happened? I thought you two were arch enemies?"

"We usually are. She's come around a bit. Can't say I don't still want to wipe the look off her face sometimes. She's hot though." Mikey took a swig of his drink.

"Oh is that how it is now Mikey?" Frank asked, challenging him.

"Yeah it is Frank. Girl doesn't listen to me and she should if she knows whats good for her. Sometimes people are only looking out for other peoples best interests." Mikey was dropping a very stern hint to Frank and Frank knew what he was saying.

Liam jumped in again. "I have no idea what you two are talking about but if she's drinking and she's trying to get your attention you should probably take the opportunity to hate-fuck her."

Mikey's eyes shot venom at Liam. Ray and Frank sighed in unisen and looked at Mikey awaiting his wrath, but he was calmer than they expected. Obviously angry but calm.

"Oh is that what you would do?" Mikey asked. And Liam had no idea he was annoyed. He was too busy looking at the girl in question.

Liam laughed and nodded in Kitzie's direction. She was already having a conversation with another group of girls. "I don't think that girl would ever let me touch her. But if you got the chance... that's all I'm saying."

Mikey closed his eyes for a moment to regain his composure. He didn't want to start an argument with his friend, but he did want Kitzie to come to her senses. Maybe Liam would be good for that. Frank and Ray wandered over to talk to some girls, leaving Mikey alone with Liam and an opportunity.

"Maybe you should go talk to her. She's been looking at you all night. I think she's interested. She seems pretty drunk and I want to go talk to the girl in the red top over there." Mikey motioned to another girl who he had hooked up with before. Mikey had no intention of going there with this girl again. There was nothing special about her.

Liam wandered over to Kitzie and began talking to her. Mikey watched from a distance. He saw Liam's body language turn into something more flirtatious. Kitzie seemed quite uncomfortable and Mikey regretted his decision. Kitzie must have made an excuse to walk away. Mikey saw her begin walking upstairs. He found Gerard and told him to keep an eye on things while he went up to check on her.
