I Can't Wait Forever

I am waiting in line to be recruited. I can't believe I'm actually doing this. I'm 22 years of age and I should be able to join. I hope they accept me. I hear my "name" called. I rush up to the table and I give the recruiters my information and they tell me they'll look over my files I've given them and they'll give me a telegram. I nod, excitedly and I turn and calmly leave.

*time lapse, two days*

I am anxious to receive this letter. Maybe I didn't get one? I hear the mailman come around and a few minutes after he leaves, I run and check the mail box. In the box sits a small envelope, tinted lightly brown, stamped with the seal of approval by the US Army. I walk back inside and I shut the door. I open the letter and I read. I drop the letter and I start to breathe heavily. "Oh my god…"
