Playing With Fire
chapter 3
"So how's your brother," Gerard asked after a long moment of silence. I sighed and dropped my gaze to the floor, along with my sandwich to its plate.
"He's in jail again," I muttered, trying to hold back my tears. "They're sending him to rehab once he gets out. We don't even get two days to see him once he gets out." I kept my head down, and got up, slightly wincing at the sound of the chair against the rugged floors. I slowly moped into my room, not to sure what I should do from there. I didn't want to cry, I didn't want Gerard seeing me. I walked into the doorway of my cold, dark room, quietly shutting the door behind me. The room had no windows, no natural light. The only light in here was a tiny, barely even working lamp that we had bought years ago that I barely even use in here. I like it dark.
I could feel tears brimming my eyes. If Gerard caught me crying, my reputation would be over. Well, maybe it wouldn't be so bad if he knows how much my brother means to me. He's helped me through so much, I hate to see him go through what he's going through now. Its that one gateway drug that leads to it all.
I heard the door squeak open. I shot my glance up, noticing Gerard leaning on the doorway with his arm over his head. That was so hot.
"Frankie, I know how much this means to you. It's okay. I understand. If you ever need anyone to talk to, I'll be here... theres something I can do tonight to make it up to you... just you wait." With those wordd being said, the doof had been shut behind him, leaving me in darkness once again. For some reason, seeing his face made everything better, having him talk to me made everything almost perfect. I couldn't help but wonder what he meant by 'theres something I can do tonight to make it up to you'. Whatever. I'll find out tonight.
I sighed and threw myself back onto the pillow and just stared there at the darkened tiles on the ceiling, listening to the trains as they sounded their horns loudly in the distance.
Notes
