Charlotte's P.O.V

My head was vibrating, I winced in pain. I slowly got up and regretted the movement. Ugh, sunlight, ew. I squinted my eyes and placed my feet on the wooden floor. "Whhhyy" I groaned.
The phone was ringing. I picked it up and waited for the person on the other end to say something. "uhh... Charlie?" It was Chelsea. "Yes?" I groaned. "Where are you? You're meant to be at work right now... You're so not hungover, are you?" She screamed into the phone. I winced away and rubbed my ear.

"What's the time?" I asked, getting up and padding toward my walk-in wardrobe. "10:00" she simply stated. I could hear someone complaining in the background for the Harley Quinn drawings, shit. "I'll be there in 20 minutes" I hung up and threw the phone at my bed. I jumped in the shower and brushed my teeth. It was weird, to brush your teeth in the shower. I got out and combed my hair while picking my clothes out. 10 minutes left. I put my clothes on and picked my shoes up, putting them on while hopping down the stairs.

I picked up a banana and ran out the door. I forgot the drawings. I ran back inside and sprinted up the stairs. WHERE ARE THEY!!?? I ran around the room, almost crying. I found them under the home phone. There they are. I ran out the door and almost got into my car when I remembered. My car isn't here, I was at the bar last night. MY CAR ISN'T HERE. I'm going to get fired, I'm so late. I was supposed to be at work 2 hours ago.

I pulled at my hair in frustration and snatched my phone from my pocket. I looked through the list of contacts on my phone and called Frank.
'Helloo" Frank answered.
'Hey! Uh- can you pick me up. I need to go to work but my car isn't here' I rushed and he sighed.
'Uh... sorry Charlie, my car is kind of at the bar as well... I'll get Gerard to pick you up. I'm so sorry' He said. Out of nowhere I saw a beautiful car pull up, Gerard got out and walked toward me, his hands in his jacket pockets.
'Looks like he beat you to it. Bye Frankie' I smiled and Gerard smirked.
'Bye baby girl' He hung up and I put my phone back in my pocket.

"You ready to go?" He asked and I nodded. "How did you know?" I said and jogged to the passenger side of the car. "Remember? Last night? You told Frank that I could come to your work with you" He reversed out and headed down the road. "Sweet. Take a right here... so, uh, nice car" I smiled. "Thanks, she's my baby" He said.

The rest of the drive was quiet, apart from myself giving directions to the head office. I checked the time and saw that I still had 2 minutes. I got out and grabbed Gerard's hand. "Come on!" I squealed and ran to the building. I scanned my I.D tag and went inside. "Good morning Charlotte" The lady at the desk said. "Hi, I need a visitor pass for my friend here" I said quietly. I have worked here for 2 years and still I can't speak to this lady confidently. She smiled and handed me a Visitor clearance pass. I thanked her and turned to Gerard.

"Here" I placed the lanyard around his neck and he grinned. "You ready?" I asked and he nodded rapidly. He was so adorable right now, his beautiful hazel eyes sparkled and his smile was wide. I pulled him along, my fingers linked with his. I pushed the button for the elevator and went up to the right floor. "Welcome to where comics are made!" I threw my free hand out and guided it around the large office. There were pictures of the original drawings and life size figurines of superheroes around the office. I looked back up to his face and he was frozen.

"Wow" He said as he walked further into the office. People were rushing around with papers in their hands and speaking. "I'll show you the cool part, my office" I still had his hand in my mine and lead him towards the familiar bright green door, my name was printed on the door in comic writing and had a picture of Batman and the Joker hanging out on a couch. I opened the door and walked inside. Gerard spun around my room, looking at all the walls. I have to admit that my office at work was a whole lot tidier and organized then the one at home. I had a whole library of comics and figurines everywhere. The only thing that was different from the usual superman poster were two posters, 1. Dr. Who and 2. Lord of the rings.

I had a clean desk, my Macbook, telephone, a sketchbook, pencil cup filled with a variety of art pencils and a picture of myself and Frank at the park when we were in high school. I loved my office, it was bright and was filled with everything that a fan girl loves. There were photographs of family and friends on the wall near my desk. I felt a stab in my heart when I saw the photo of my mum. "I'll be right back, I need to hand this in before I get fired" I lifted up the pictures of Harley Quinn in the air and Gerard's eyes widened. "Be right back, You can read some of those if you want" I pointed to the book shelf and walked out the door.

I ran into Chelsea and she sighed in relief. "Thank god you're here! Hurry up!" She said and I ran to the head of art department's office. I knocked on the door and waited patiently. The guy that is the head of the art department is a bit of an asshole, his name is Benjamin Walker. Bennie for short, weird spelling I know. He demands to be called Bennie, it doesn't matter who you are.

"Come in" He said in a quiet voice. I opened the door and walked in. I closed the door behind me and went up to his desk. "Please, take a seat" He said, his hands were crossed on the desk. I felt my anxiety bubble up in the pit stomach. "Thank you" I sat down in one of the chairs in front of his desk. "Please explain why you are late" He sneered. The only reason why he doesn't like me is because I turned him down. He asked me out the first day I got here, I didn't speak to him after that, not because he asked me out but because I just couldn't.

"My sincerest apologies for being late Bennie. I had a rough day yesterday, due to finding out that my mother is in hospital. I stayed up last night with her and went to sleep only later after midnight, I slept in and I am very sorry" I lied and thanks to my knowledge on words I can dig myself out of deep trouble. After a while of not using your mouth to speak you kind of learn a lot.

"I'm very sorry for your mother, I hope she is feeling better soon. Now, do you have the sketches for the Harley Quinn comic?" He asked and looked at the pages in my hands. "Yes, right here" I passed him the papers and he nodded. He flipped through the pictures and smiled. Wow, he actually smiled at me. "These are perfect, perfect as always" He winked at me. Okay, so I will admit that he is attractive, but he's an ass. He treats most of the workers here like garbage. "Thank you Bennie" I got up from my seat and he pushed off the desk and ran to me. He stood in front of me, the pages still clutched in his hands.

"So... I was wondering-" Oh god, he's going to ask me out again? "If you would like to go out for lunch?" His eyes looked hopeful. What should I say? "Can I bring a friend?" I asked and he looked away. "Uh- You know what? I actually forgot... I had a meeting later on... uh... yeah" He paused in between speaking. Great! I got out of that one! I smiled and put my 'Understanding' face on. "Oh- I understand. Well I better get back to work" I was just at the door when I felt an arm snake around my waist.

He twisted me around to face him and pushed me against the door. I raised an eyebrow and felt my heart rate increase, my fingers began to twitch and a cold shiver ran down my spine. His face was really close to mine, really close. His eyes glanced down at my lips and I froze. He looked back into my eyes and then let me go. He must have seen that I was scared.

He stepped back awkwardly and sat at his desk, his back faced me. I opened the door and stepped into the hallway, my heart was slowing down. I took a deep breath and went to my office. I closed the door behind me and closed my eyes, taking deep breaths and leaning against the door. He was going to kiss me, the office jerk was going to kiss me. I shivered in disgust.

"Are you okay Charlie?" I jumped to the voice of Gerard. "Yeah, it's nothing" I walked to the seat he was at and sat on the arm of it. "I dodged the bullet today my friend" I smiled and he put the comic in his hands to the side. I picked it up and saw that it was the new batman comic that we printed out. I placed it back on his lap and got up, walking towards my desk. Chelsea barged into my office, holding two folders. I sat in my chair and she placed the folders on my desk.

"Okay, so I did half of your work for you while you were... hungover... here is the rest!" She smiled. "Thank you Chelsea! This is Gerard" I pointed to Gerard, he was holding the batman comic and waved to Chelsea. Her face went pale white.

Chelsea has been a fan of My chemical romance for ever. She fainted when she met Frank, she almost killed me when I said I knew Ray from high school. "H-hey there. You're um... You're cool. Fuck. Bye" She stuttered and ran out of my office. "Sorry, she's a big fan" I answered Gerard's silent question.

"Oh, cool. Hey do you want to go have dinner tonight? I can call Frank and he can come along too..." Gerard made a puppy dog face and I awed. "Look at you, your so god damn cute" I blushed after saying that, my heart beat racing a little for the hundredth time that day. I walked over to him and patted his head. "Of course, I just need to do a few things and then we'll leave?" I said and he nodded.

Just as I was about to move away the door opened and in walked a flustered Bennie. "Charlotte I love- uh. Hello..." He stopped mid sentence and looked at Gerard. "Bennie? What are you doing?" I asked, my hand still on Gerard's head. "I- uh. Just wanted to say that the work that... uh. Fuck it" He stepped out of the office and slammed the door behind him. I gave Gerard a look and he shrugged.

"Well let me get to work... I'll just be at my desk. If you need anything just ask me, you can even watch me draw if you like" I suggested and he nodded. He grabbed a chair and pushed it next to mine. "I'd love to!" He sat down and watched as I grabbed a pencil. The first time Frank came to my office he watched me draw so why not let him watch?

I began to draw the outline of Batman in the middle of a road and added detail. When I completed the drawing of Batman I drew Cat woman crouching in the background and a burning car behind her. Joker was off to the side holding Harley Quinn and a loaded gun pointing to Batman. Poison ivy was tangling vines around the road and The white rabbit was on top of a building, the moon shining behind her. Robin was next to batman but was looking up at the sky. There was glass on the road and burning buildings.

"Are you going to be the one that saves us from the black and hopeless feeling?" I wrote at the bottom in broken glass. "Keep it" I passed it to him and his eyes nearly popped out of his head. "No, I can't keep this!" He pushed it back to me and I wrote his name at the bottom in neat writing, I signed it from me. "Unless you know another 'Gerard Way', I think your keeping it" I chuckled and he looked up at my face. "Thank you, I really love it" He clutched onto it tightly and held it to his chest. "No worries, Now I have to do 'The green lantern'!" and I grabbed a new sheet of paper.
