The only way I'll really smile is if you cut me ear to ear.

Chapter forty nine

"Are they dead?" I whispered. It was one in the afternoon and none of them had awoken. I poked Ray's forehead. He didn't move or show any signs of annoyance whatsoever. I opened the curtain to Mikey's bunk and shook his arm. I decided that maybe Mikey was alive since he muttered 'fuck off' while turning away. I nodded and went onto the other victims.

Gerard was most definitely knocked out for some unknown reason and Frank was unresponsive too. Even after I flicked both of them on the nose, they didn't move. I stood back and sighed. Well, fuck. I scratched my neck and looked around the bus in a bored state. What should I do?

After making something to eat, I cleaned the kitchen. What should I do now? I got the idea to clean the rest of the bus. So I did. I started in the lounge room and went onto the bathroom last. The bathroom was horrible. The medical cabinet was empty and every single appliance and object used in the bathroom were scattered across the tiny surface in front of the cabinet. I placed all the toothbrushes and hairspray back into the medical cabinet and mentally wrote a list in my head. They need a holder for their hair straighteners and hair dryer. They also need more toothpaste and food in the fridge.

I checked on the lifeless boys before grabbing my purse and leaving the bus. I picked up a few treats and normal food in the grocery store, along with the things I mentally wrote down. I carried all the bags back to the bus and happily jumped in. As I guessed, they were still out. Except for Mikey.

His arm moved out of the bunk. A small moan was all I could hear. I carried the bags into the kitchen and lightly placed them on the floor. I then poured water into a tall glass and picked up a few tablets of paracetamol. As I strolled towards Mikey's bunk, I couldn't help but awe at how cute Gerard looked sleeping. I then remembered that I had to give pain medication to a suffering Michael. I took one last glance at the sleeping cutie before entering the bunks. "Hey" I whispered while looking at Mikey.

He whimpered and slowly opened his eyes. "My head..." He pouted. His breath smelt like strong liquor. I held the glass and tablets up. "Do you want to sit up for me?" I used the same quiet voice. He nodded carefully and sat up. I handed him the glass and pills. "Thank you" he spoke before taking the pills. "The other boys are still sleeping" I smiled. "What's the time?" He croaked. I looked at my watch.

"It's seven" he drank the rest of the water down and handed me the glass. "Wow, how come your up so early?" He laid back down and brought his bed sheets back up to his chin. "It's uh... Seven as in... night time Mikes" I smirked. He was silent, his brain must have been slowly processing this information. "I've been asleep for..." He stared at the ceiling. "Mhm" I hummed. "Shit. That was one hell of a night" he chuckled but hissed at the pain laughter gave him.

"You should probably sleep that out" I played with his hair. "Mkay" he murmured. He smiled and closed his eyes. I kept playing with his hair until his breathing evened out and he was asleep. I closed the curtain to his bunk and went to unpack the groceries.

---

I decided to make dinner. Gerard had woken up by then. He groaned and stumbled into the kitchen. I smiled and continued making toasted sandwiches. "How long have I been asleep?" He asked. I checked the time. It was eight. "You were getting closer to the 24 hour point" I told him. "Jeez" he scratched his head and looked up at me. "Sandwich?" I asked while holding a plate up to him. "Sure, I'm starving" he grabbed the plate carefully and smiled. "Thanks" he kissed my cheek softly. "It's alright sugar" I playfully slapped his butt as he turned away. He chuckled and moved towards the bench beside me. "Where's the others?" He asked after taking a mouthful of food.

"Wasn't Frank on the couch with you?" I recalled. "No" he said. I stared at him for a bit before heading to the lounge room. And like he said, Frank wasn't on the couch. Confused, I checked the bathroom. After a few minutes of looking around, I came up with nothing. Where the hell could that boy be? I opened the door to the bus and jumped off. After closing the door, I called out for him. "Frank?" I shouted. I heard a small whimper around the back of the bus. "Frank?" I determinedly made my way towards the sound.
I rounded the corner and there he was. "There you are!" I grinned. My smile left my face when I saw him covered in puke. "God dammit" I muttered. "I'm sorry" he cried. "Why didn't you go to the toilet?" I asked. He shrugged and looked down at his shirt. Correction. My shirt. "That isn't mine... Is it?" I hoped it wasn't. He bit his lip and started crying. "Frank" I crouched down and levelled my eyes with his. "I'm sorry for puking on your shirt Charlie" he sobbed.

"Why are you crying so much Frankie? I don't mind! Look!" I brought his chin up so he could see my face. "I'm not mad! Remember that time you vomited all over my comics? I wasn't even mad then!" I tried to convince him. "Yes you were" he screwed his face up.

I tried to remember that day. Shit. I screamed at him for it. "O-Okay, well those were kind of limited edition, so maybe I got a little angry. But those weren't washable, this is" I touched his shoulder. "Charlie, it's not about the shirt" he whimpered. I stayed silent and watched his features. "I love Jamia" he whispered. I could feel the huge smile on my face. "Oh my god Frank, that's awesome!" I grabbed both sides of his face and showed him my happiness. He didn't speak. He started crying again. "Frank, what's wrong?" I frowned.

"I don't think she loves me" he started shaking. "Of course she loves you!" I argued. "Charlie, I got her pregnant" he informed me. My breath hitched. "A-Are you sure?" I looked at him nervously. He nodded his head slowly. "Oh god-" he puked. I closed my eyes as I felt the liquid go all over my legs. I let out a sigh. "I'm sorry" he started sobbing.

"Oh Frankie" I whispered as I wrapped my arms around him. He cried into my neck, his body limp and shaking. "Everything is going to be fine" I played with his hair. We sat together until it got really dark. I looked up at the sky, still clutching onto the tear filled boy. He let out a sigh when I let him go. I guided his face up to look at me. "I think you're going to make an amazing father" I told him honestly. He smiled lightly. "How about we go inside and get cleaned up?" I asked while chuckling at the mess he made.
"That might be a good idea" he sniffled. I grabbed his hands and helped him up. It was pretty chilly outside anyway. We entered the bus and this time, everyone was up and awake. "Thanks for making-" Ray turned around, a sandwich in his mouth. But as soon as he saw us he spat it out. Gerard walked in from the kitchen and his face instantly contorted into disgust. Mikey went pale and blocked his nose. "Ew, that's really disgusting guys" Mikey fanned his face. I looked at Frank and he shrugged. "We're going to have a shower" I told the others as I pulled Frank into the bathroom.

"Wait! You're doing what!?" Gerard shouted. "Don't worry, it's not like we haven't seen each other naked before" Frank mumbled while closing the door to the small room. "Should I be angry?" Gerard muttered on the other side of the door. I opened it up a crack since Frank was getting unchanged. "I'm just going to get him cleaned up that's all" I smiled and leaned in for kiss. He kissed me back before blocking his nose and shaking his head.

I laughed lightly and closed the door. The shower was already on and Frank was sitting on the floor in his boxers. I tried not to touch the vomit on my jeans as I removed them. "Frankie, I know I haven't exactly known Jamia all that much but if you tell her you love her, I think there is nothing stopping her from saying I love you back" I crouched down in front of him. He nodded slowly, the water from the shower was pouring down on his head.

"Do you want some help?" I asked. He shrugged his shoulders and I grabbed a bottle of shampoo. His hair was hella greasy.

---

After our shower, I helped drying him off and wrapped the towel around my hips. I don't know how I didn't get my top wet, but at least I still didn't smell like stomach acid. "I'm gonna get you some clothes" I told him before exiting the bathroom. I snooped around in his bunk and found a pile of pyjamas. I chose the Frankenstein printed ones. They were his favourite.

I grabbed the first shirt in mine and Gerard's bunk and a pair of Gee's boxers to wear. Don't judge me, boxers are comfy. I slipped back into the bathroom, unnoticed. "Here you go" I handed the PJ's to Frankie. He sent me a small smile and got changed. I got unchanged quickly and slipped into the clothes I brought for myself. I only just realised that I got one of Gerard's shirts. It was a bit bigger then me so it felt cozy. Frank let out a small laugh. "You look so cute in his clothes" he smirked. I blushed while tying my hair up into a messy bun.

"I kind of just randomly picked this shirt up" I smiled in the mirror. "It looks good" he opened the door to the bathroom and was just about to walk out when I stopped him. He sent me a questioning look. "I'll always be here for you Frankie bear, you know that. So, if you like... Need anybody to talk to and your feeling like complete shit, just call me and I'll fly over to wherever you are and we can watch horror movies and eat ice cream. But whatever you do, don't let this romance with Jamia go. I know when you're in love and I can tell when you aren't bullshitting me. If it helps, I could maybe hang out with her while you're on tour?" I placed my hand on his shoulder gently.

He nodded his head and smiled. "Come 'ere, loser" I gave him a big hug. He rubbed my back and breathed out a shakey laugh. "You're my best friend, my brother and my little loser. I better be the guardian of that little rascal" I jokingly told him. "Of course" he looked at me as I let go of him. "I mean, you don't actually have to decide the god parents right now. I mean the child probably hasn't even formed body parts yet" I looked away as I tried to shrug off his acceptance of my comment. "Uh- About that..." He scratched his neck nervously.

"What?" I narrowed my eyes at him questioningly. "She already knows the gender" a look of shame and embarrassment was clear on his face. "Frank. How long did you know about the pregnancy?" I asked him sternly. "Ever since we left to go on tour" he mumbled. "What!?" He flinched. "I-I didn't know how to tell you!" His eyes were wide. "Dude, this is why we're best friends. You're meant to tell me stuff like this without feeling scared about my response!" I exclaimed. "I know" he looked at the ground beneath him. I sighed and shook my head. "Well?" I expectantly waited for a reply. "What?" He studied my face. "Well, is it a boy or a girl?" I excitedly hopped on the spot.

He blushed and looked at his hands. "There's more than just one" he grinned. "Twins!?" I shouted. "Both of them are girls" he kept the same dopey grin on his face. "Holy shit!" I shook him violently but happily. He shook me back and we giddily squealed in happiness. "Okay, okay!" I stopped him. I started feeling dizzy.

"Remember that time when we were just finishing high school and we were saying how when we get married and both have kids of our own, I'd be your children's guardian and you'd be the guardian to mine?" Frank's eyes were filled with remembrance as he spoke. I nodded my head at the fond memory. "Well, I wasn't lying that day. I really would love it if you'd be the godmother" he sniffled. "I would love that too" I told him.

We started laughing out of pure joy. "Are you going to tell the guys?" I asked as we went into the bunk area. "Not just yet. I-I need some time to think before I broadcast it" he scratched his forehead in thought. "Alright, well I made some sandwiches in the kitchen. You go on ahead and get something to eat, I'm just going to get the clothes out of the bathroom" I patted his back as he walked away.

Holy shit. I'm a godparent? I need to see Jamia. I've only met her twice because Frank has kept her secret for a while. I started balling the clothes from the ground up and shoved them into a plastic bag. She's very pretty. Pretty? Gosh. She's gorgeous. I wonder if they're going to get married. Hopefully. She's perfect for him.
