Stay After Class?

"Bye mom!" I yelled as I ran out my front door. I was going to be late... again. It was no big surprise to my teachers if I snuck in late, but I hated to see the disappointed look on Mr. Way's face. He was my art teacher, and also my first class of the day. He never gave me detentions for it, though, and I believe I was his favorite student. I don't know why he liked me; no one else did. I only had two friends; Kelsey and Frank. Kelsey had been my best friend since second grade, and Frank had been my boyfriend for almost 6 months. I continued to run all the way to school. When I reached the main entrance, I slowed down and caught my breath for a moment. I walked in and slipped into the crowd of people shuffling to their classes. I made it to my locker, opened my combination lock, and grabbed my art supplies. Trying to stay unseen, I stole back into the mass of bodies and arrived at Mr. Way's class five minutes early. Wow, I thought, I ran faster than usual today. Before I could make it to my seat in the back of the classroom, Mr. Way called out to me. Mr. Way was, by far, my favorite teacher of all time. For one, he was extremely good looking. His shaggy black hair gave him a childlike vibe, while his hazel eyes showed knowledge and maturity. He was also nice, lenient, and never made you feel like you were stupid, like most teachers seemed to like doing.I slowly walked to his desk, unsure of what he could want. "Kristy," he began, "Do you think you could do an extra project for me? You have extraordinary talent. I would, of course, give you extra credit. It would need to be of a park setting; full of nature and shit. You'd need to stay after school every day this week for about two hours."

"Um.. Sure, I guess. Do I need to stay after here starting today?"

"You can, but because I didn't really give you warning, you don't have to."

After confirming I would be staying, I went back to seat and watched clusters of poeple come into the class. A few seconds before the bell rang, I heard a "I have arrived!!" being yelled from the doorway. I smiled to myself, knowing Kelsey had made it. She was the opposite of me. I was quiet, shy, and awkward, while she was loud, confident, and could keep a conversation interesting for hours.

She strolled to the seat beside my mine and plopped down on it.

"Sup, Kriss," she said as a greeting. Her blonde hair was slightly sticking up around her head, adding to her cute appearance.

"Sittin' here, bitch," I joked. "I can't come over today, I'm staying after school to do an extra project for Mr. Way."

She groaned but before she could say anything else, the bell rang, signalling the beginning of class. Mr. Way stood up from his desk and began talking about a difficult project that would be due the following week.

"Actually, guys, scratch that. Draw a comic or something; I don't feel like grading anything," Mr. Way said, grinning at us all. Another reason I liked him.

I spent the class drawing a meaningless comic strip filled with cats. When the bell rang, I packed up my supplies and waited for Kelsey to finish gathering her stuff. I turned around to glance at Mr. Way, and discovered he had been staring at me. He winked at me and turned to his computer. I blushed tomato red. A teacher, a hot teacher, had just winked at me. What was that supposed to mean?
I hurried Kelsey along, eager to get out. Entering into the hallway, I walked to Frank's locker. Thankfully, he was there. I kissed him on the cheek. He smiled sweetly and pecked me on the lips.

I wonder what Frank would think about Mr. Way winking at me..
