The only Hope

Gerard’s pov:

“Gee, look!” Mikey pointed at the building. The lights were off now.

“Okay, here’s the plan.” I turned to Mikey, Ray and Frank.

“Frank, you and Ray take out the guards. You cover us as we run for the stairs, okay?” They nodded. “Mikey, you’re coming with me. I have a feeling he’s keeping her on the sixth or seventh floor like last time, but we’ll just check them all. Oh, and Ray and Frank: stay downstairs, also like last time. Got it?”

“Yeah, let’s go.” Frank took out his gun and got out of the car as did the rest. I followed.

We made our way to the front of the building. There were two observation posts. Ray and I took them out from a distance. We were really close to the front entry now. Frank and Ray both turned to the sides and took out four guards.

We all took their cards, which granted us permission to nearly every room in the building, and opened the doors.

Korse must have noticed us by now, because we made a hell lot of noise. Windows broke, everyone was shooting. Frank and Ray took on numerous Dracs while Mikey and I went up the stairs.

“You check here, the second floor and the third, okay?” I looked at Mikey.

“Sure, but how many floors are there exactly?” Mikey panted.

“No idea, just be careful.” I patted Mikey on the back and made my way upstairs.

A voice in the back of my mind told me Hope was on the top floor, but I still decided to check every floor I could.

BAM!

I hadn’t noticed the Drac behind me. Luckily he missed. I hit him in the stomach and pushed him down the stairs. Better save my ammo.

Hope wasn’t anywhere to be found. She wasn’t on the fourth and fifth floor. It looked like I had two, maybe three more floors to go.

When I got to the sixth floor I saw light above me. I guess Korse had turned off every light in the building, except for the room he was in. Was Hope there?

Suddenly I heard a noise. I looked behind me and saw a Japanese woman standing behind me. I jumped and pointed my gun at her.

“No, please don’t kill me!” She whispered.

I looked at her from her head to her feet. I didn’t know this woman.

“Poison, right?” The woman had a very humble attitude.

“Who are you?” I sneered. I didn’t trust this one bit.

“My name is Jun. Please take me with you, I’m scared Korse is going to hurt me!” The woman literally got on her knees.

“Come on, get up. Were you captured?” I held out my hand and lowered my gun.

Jun took my hand and got up again. “Yes, he made me work for him. I’m so sorry if I hurt anyone!” She started sobbing.

“Shhh, hey. Okay, you know what? My brother is not far behind. Go downstairs and find him. He is blond and tall and he will help you. Just tell him I sent you. Call him Mikes.” I whispered.

“Mikes.” The woman repeated and wiped away her tears. “Thank you so much!”

I smiled. “That’s okay, now go!”

The woman ran past me and went downstairs. Time for me to head to the light source.

I ran upstairs without making any noise. I could hear voices now and stopped walking.

“You okay, darling, you look a little pale.” Korse.

There was no respond. My guess: Hope.

I noticed this floor wasn’t divided into separate rooms, it was one huge room.

I saw a panel. There were cameras and monitors everywhere. Korse was in front of it. Then I looked to the right. It was Hope. She… Wasn’t tied up?

There were a couple of Dracs present in the room as well. Just two or three. First things first: take them out.

I ran further up the stairs and started shooting. One out. Two.

The third was a tough one and hit me in the face. I kicked him and shot him in the head after.

Now I pointed my gun at Korse. He was applauding. I looked at Hope, she was just standing there. Eyes on the floor.

“Good job. Very good job.” He grinned. “Too bad you’re wasting your time, Gerard.”

Wait. “How do you know my name?” I sneered.

His smile grew bigger. “She told me everything.” He pointed at Hope.

I looked at her as my heart was breaking into a million pieces. I felt tears stinging in my eyes.

“Hope?”
