The only Hope

Gerard’s pov:

Frank dropped the piece of wood he was holding. He was completely frozen.

“Fuck man, I didn’t want to do it, but…”

Mikey jumped in. “Hey! She is insane, okay? She was definitely gonna attack us again!”

Ray sat down and stroked his stomach. “Frank, you just smashed a little girl’s head in!”

“Yeah, I know and I’m sorry! But… You know, like Mikey said… Gerard say something!” Frank looked at me with sad eyes. I could see he regretted his action already. Only now I noticed I had been staring at the girl for some time, ignoring the rest of the group. But my god, I mean… How old could she be? No older than 16, 17 for sure. She had long, black hair and was only wearing a small blue dress. No leggings, no shoes. I dropped my eyes.

“Don’t worry, she’s still breathing.” I noticed while I had been staring at her.

“Oh thank god!” Frank sighed and placed his hands on his head.

“Thank god? Thank GOD? The bitch is fucking crazy! You all saw that right!” Mikey pointed at the girl.

Ray shook his head. “Her appearance raises a lot of questions, I’ll give you that. But crazy? No.”

Mikey started walking back and forward. “She almost killed my brother man!”

“Ray is right.” I said calmly. Everyone was looking at me. “At one point she yelled “not again” or something like that. So something must have happened to her.”

Mikey cursed under his breath and walked outside, smashing everything he could on his way. Frank tried to go after him, but I walked over and grabbed his arm.

“Just let him be for now…”

I sighed and turned to both Ray and Frank now. “Well, one thing is for sure… We can’t leave her here.”

Frank looked at us with confusion in his eyes. “I get that she’s just a girl, but she’s goddamn dangerous. So… Whatever we do, I’m bringing that piece of wood with me.”

I laughed. “We’ll be okay, as long as we don’t trigger her. I don’t know what the hell happened, but we are gonna find out.” And with that I lifted her up and carried her to the car. The way she fought… She was definitely not a regular girl. No, she was trained. The more I thought about it, the more questions it raised. Who was this girl? Suddenly I felt something warm and wet on my hand; she was bleeding from the back of her head.

“Oh hell no!” Mikey snapped me out of my thoughts. “Now you’re just asking for trouble! We don’t even know who she is! She could be a spy! She fights like a spy, that’s for sure! Why take her with us?!”

“Mikey…”

“No, you listen to me!”

“Mikey, open the car door.”

“Gerard!”

“Open the fucking car door!” Mikey looked very angry at me for a while, then he did as he was told.

“If this ends bad, I’m not going to be here for you. Just think about it. Korse had her here for a reason. Now, as you know, he escaped. Big chance he’s going to look for her. It will be the same song all over…”

“Shut up, Mikey.” I said calmly. I didn’t want to think about what had happened before.

I put the girl on the backseat of the car and looked at Mikey, but he was already getting behind the wheel. He was right though. We know nothing about this girl, but I will not let Korse get to her again.
Frank and Ray walked past me and were about the take their seat in the car.

“Wait.” I said and walked over to the dead body of one of the guards. I turned him over and grabbed the handcuffs from his belt, and the key of course. I walked back to the car and handcuffed the girl. You never know… Ray and Frank nodded at me, but then got in the car next to the girl. I sat down on the passenger’s seat next to Mikey, he cleared his throat and we took off. I looked at the girl once more in the rear-view mirror. Her body was bruised and battered all over. I really wondered what had happened to her…
