We'll Show Them
Signs
I panted, holding out my arms as the last note rang throughout the venue. I was burning up under the stage lights thanks to the damn dress clothes I was in. Though the aesthetic is nice, it was really a terrible decision.
The crowd was going wild, and I loved every second of it. They held their hands out toward the stage, some maniacally waving signs labeled with "MCRmy" or "My Chemical Romance Saved My Life". My heart swelled with pride knowing we were doing something right.
I made the move to bring the mic to my mouth once again, causing another round of crazed screams and whistles and even some catcalls. Smirking, I surveyed the audience, seeing if they would calm down at all. I doubted it though. As my eyes skimmed the venue, I noticed one person who really stood out. Her yellow jeans contrasted starkly with the grayscale and red that the rest of the crowd donned. She smirked at me, eyes hidden behind a pair if sunglasses. It really threw me for a loop. I was used to people smiling back, swooning even, but no one ever had the audacity to smirk before.
Regaining my composure, I figured it would probably be a good time to wrap the show up, judging by the looks security was giving me. "Alright New York City," I yelled into the mic, pausing for the yells followed the mere mention of the city.
"I couldn't have asked for a better crowd to end the Revenge tour with! You guys have been fucking awesome, but I think it's time we left you with one last message. So long, and goodnight!" I yelled, placing the mic on the stand and heading off. I felt exhilarated after such a show. Hell, I even pulled Frank in and placed a sloppy kiss on his mouth to rile up the fans.
We took our seats in the green room, taking a moment to cool down and relax before we went to the signing.
"Dude, that show was fucking insane!" Frank cheered as he collapsed on the couch between Mikey and me.
I smiled at him, absent-mindedly playing with the strap of leather around my wrist, rubbing over the embossed letters. Mikey and Frank took notice, giving apologetic glances. It had been six years...
Ray, Frank, Mikey, Bob, and I all conversed, agreeing that we couldn't have ended the tour better. We reminisced about classic tour moments and spoke about the future until our manager popped his head through the doorway, telling us it was time to go meet the fans. Reluctantly, we left the comfortable couches and made our way to those who bought VIP tickets.
People were already lined up in front of the table, arms full of merchandise ready to be signed. Taking our designated seats, security began herding people through.
After an hour, my hand was beginning to cramp from signing so many CDs, posters, shirts, and various body parts. I was unbelievably thankful only a handful of fans remained.
Among them was the girl with the yellow jeans. As she approached the tables, I took notice of the finer details of her appearance. Her violet hair was braided, capped off with a beanie. Intricate macabre tattoos wrapped down her left arm, turning her into a walking piece of art. She had a ring hanging from a chain around her neck, and those sunglasses still covered her eyes. She was an enigma, which intrigued me. Frank took notice too, eyes bugging out if his head, the horny bastard.
She walked over, holding a copy of of Revenge. "You guys had a pretty bitchin' show tonight," she smiled, sliding her CD across the table. "Nice bracelet, too."
"Thanks, I like your ring. Is there anyone I should make this out to?"
"Yeah, 'Frog Girl'."
Nodding, I began to autograph the CD, getting halfway through before realization set in. Frog Girl. Looking up, the girl had removed her glasses, revealing a familiar pair green eyes that had been filled with tears the last time I saw them six years ago.
"Lizzie?" I whispered in awe, barely loud enough for her to hear.
"Hey Gee," she laughed slightly, fiddling with the ring around her neck. It was my class ring...
Unable to contain myself any longer, I reached over the table, gathering Lizzie in an awkward hug. When I released her, my hands rested on the sides of her face, just to make sure she was real.
"It's really you," was all I could say.
"It's really me."
I wanted to stay in this moment forever. I finally had her back. I just wanted to keep her in my arms and kiss her like there was no tomorrow. I wanted there to be an 'us' again.
"Uh, Gee, your security is giving me death glares. I'm taking that as a sign to move my ass down the line." Damn security. "But hey, I finally broke down and bought a cell phone a few months ago," she grinned, grabbing my discarded marker. She wrote her number on my hand, telling me not to be a stranger. "Well, I'm going to go pull the same shit on your brother. Call me." And with that, she was gone again. At least this time, I still had something tying us together.
I felt a hand shake my shoulder slightly and turned to see a very wide-eyes Frank.
"Was that?"
"Yup."
"Shit, you said she was attractive. You didn't say she was fucking hot!"
"Frankie? What the hell, man?" He just giggled and continued signing merch.
I looked down the table to just in time to see Mikey scrambling over the top, practically leaping into Lizzie's arms. He tugged on her beanie, asking if it was the one he gave her years ago. Her nod caused on if the biggest grins to spread on his face. The talked for a minute before she announced it was time for her leave once again. He scooped her into a hug one last time. They said their goodbyes, and she headed for the door, stopping to give me a small wave. Then, she was claimed by the streets if NYC.
"Was that your girlfriend?" the girl in front of me asked as I signed her poster. She couldn't have been more than fourteen.
"Something like that," I murmured, eyes never leaving the door. My hands itched to stop signing and get a phone in them. I don't care if it had been five minutes, it wasn't enough to make up for six years.
Notes
Hello again, darlings! I couldn't leave you all hanging like that, could I? So Gee and Lizzie have reunited once again! What has she been up to for the past six years? What does the future hold for our favourite couple? You'll just have to wait! I'd love to hear what you think!
