On The Edge
The Other Side Of Jersey
Gerard's POV
The place Jakob told me to meet him was a dark alley, steeped in shadow. I walked down it as far as I dared, the tall, damp walls enclosing me. There wasn't much there; a dumpster and a chain link fence at the end. My heart was beating, quick as a rabbit's. The darkness of the night was giving me the creeps, and my senses were going into overdrive - my footsteps seemed loud enough to wake a giant in the consuming night. Jakob appeared from behind the dumpster, which startled me, but I didn't jump. I had to get this right. Jakob was a thin, young man; he had quick, nervous eyes, dank stubble and he smelt of stale cigarettes. He was followed by a steroid pumped beast, who had his arms crossed. He followed behind Jakob, who walked up to me. He smirked.
'Nice lovebite.' His words were soft, murmured in my ear. I flushed.
'How much?' I whispered.
'For you? Benjamin.' I didn't fumble with the money, just passed him one, crisp note. He pressed a small bag into the palm of my hand.
'Nice doin' business with you.' He gave me a kiss on the cheek, and walked quickly. He hopped over the fence, along with his back up, and disappeared into the night.
I looked at the bag in my hand. My eyes were tired from crying. I was tired of myself. I rolled it up in a fag paper, and took a lighter. I smoked it all, until I couldn't hold it anymore. I rolled another. I laughed aloud and stuffed the little bag into my pocket. My smile was wide and reckless. I was unstoppable now.
Frank's POV
I had sneaked out of my bedroom window to go and see my wonderful boyfriend. It wasn't that late, just dark, with no moon to light my path. I knocked on the Way's door, knowing that he'd be up. Mikey swung open the door, though.
'Frank! Hey, man. Come on in.' I smiled at the younger Way.
'Where's Gee?' I asked.
'Gerard?' He frowned. 'I thought he was with you. He told me about you two by the way. He was thrilled.'
'Have you seen him tonight?' There was a sense of urgency in my voice; inside, I was frantic. If he'd been drinking again, as bad as last time, he could be lying in a gutter, dying, injured, dead...
'He's been gone a couple of hours!' Mikey ran his hand through his hair, looking perplexed.
'Oh no...' My words came out in a horrified whisper. 'Jakob... GERARD!' I took off into the night, with Mikey chasing after me. I ran to the street where I'd known the foul dealer to linger, but it was brightly lit. I panted, hard. I'd left Mikey behind.
'GERARRRRD!' I yelled his name, desperate for a reply. I turned into an alleyway, a terrible, foreboding place. I saw a Gerard - shaped pile on the floor.
'Thank God..' I felt such a rush of relief as I sank down to meet him, and felt his heart pound life in his chest. I don't know how long we sat, together against a damp wall, his hot tears falling down his cheek, though he made no attempt to wipe them away. I just let my warm body heat his cold one, and thanked the fucking Lord he was alive.

Notes
Oooh..Gerard's been a bit naughty, hasn't he. I'm sure Frank will be having words, though.
Goodnight
