Burry Me In All My Favorite Colors
Baby Don't Cry
I stared at the sunrise deep in thought. It was a beautiful sight. The colors took over and painted the sky like a huge canvas, a canvas that changed by the hour, never the same painting twice but always breath taking.
I tugged on my hoodie and leaned against the wall as I began to realize how cold it was getting. New Jersey at its finest time of year, autumn, when the leaves we're turning different colors and it was a cold that you could bare. I sipped at my coffee and closed my eyes as I took in the delicious taste of my drink.
I was soon distracted from my train of thought as I hear whimpering coming from the other room.
"Mooommmmy!" I set my coffee on the nearest table and ran into the room.
"What's wrong honey?" I asked as I made my way over to the small bed. My daughter lay there scrunched up in the fetal position clenching her stomach, small tears rolling down her beautiful rosy cheeks.
"Mommy my tummy hurts a lot!" My eyes welled up with tears but I did my best to hold them back. "Oh honey let me get our stuff and I'm taking you straight to Dr. Anderson, just hang in there baby."
I ran into my room and got my coat, did my hair in a small bun, put my shoes on and attempted to find my purse. It was times like these that our small apartment seemed endlessly big, even more so when I could hear my baby slightly sobbing in the other room. I got my purse off the kitchen counter and quickly went in the room and put a coat on her and shoes and carried her out the apartment and into the car. I put my phone on speed dial and shortly after a deep voice answered the phone, "Is it Natalie again?"
I stared blankly at the red light. "Yes Dr. Anderson" I replied holding back tears.
"Bring her in right away" he said quickly.
"I'm on it."
"Jerllynne," his voice was stern now " it's going to be okay." I hung up unable to respond and drove to the office as quickly as I could.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------
I walked in the all too familiar office with Natalie in my arms. Nancy, the nurse took her in to the back to get her tested and I waited in the room that was assigned to me. I waited anxiously for my daughter. She came back with a lolly pop in her hand and Nancy right behind her.
"Look momma it's grape flavor" she smiled as she waved the candy in my face. I smiled at her and hugged her.
"Dr. Anderson will be with you in a moment with the results. Let me walk you to his office and if you want I can take Natalie off your hands for a bit." I smiled at her and followed her down the halls, I entered the room and sat down in front of the desk and stared around the room. After what seemed like hours, Dr. Anderson, a tall man with brown and gray hair walked in and closed the door behind him.
