The Only Hope For Me Is You
Give Em' Hell Kid
As if I wasn't dreading this day in the first place, shit got worse when I woke up and the clock said 6:50 AM, which meant I had ten fucking minutes to get ready for school. My first day of a new school to make things better. I wasn't looking forward to this because of the fact that I'm an outcast and am sure to be made fun of and not fit in. While I was thinking of the horrible day I was about to endure I picked up a pair of black skinny jeans off of my floor and my Black Flag TShirt from my dresser. Hey, if I'm going to be picked on it mine as well be for something that's true. Although being Bi probably won't help with my fitting in.
"Frank Anthony Iero Jr.! Hurry up or you're going to be late." My mom screamed from upstairs.
"Hurrying." I told her emotionless.
My mom was kind of excited about me going back to school. I had been home schooled since sixth grade. Today is my first day of tenth grade. Woopdee fucking doo. I walked upstairs, exiting my basement bedroom, well more like my home. I hardly leave that room. My mom calls it a dungeon but what the hell ever. I mean I guess it kind of looks like a dungeon but I like my dark colors, sue me. I was dying for a cig but if I ever lit one up in front of mom she would flip the fuck out.
"I'm not sure the school is going to like your hair like that." My mother said in annoyance.
"Like what?"
"That red dye on the side of your head and your bangs over your eyes. I know I don't like it."
"Well they'll just have to get over it now won't they?"
"Someone's in a mood."
"Yea, I am. You want to know why? Because your sending me back to public school, the same fucking district I got the living shit beat out of me. I'm ecstatic."
"Watch your mouth Frank. I just think it will be good for you to meet people and get out of the house for eight hours."
"Eight hours out of the house switched for eight hours in hell. Yay."
"This conversation is over. You're going! End of story."
"Fine let's go. I'm already late." I said noticing the clock on the microwave said 7:05.
When we pulled into the parking lot we were already getting looks. They probably thought I was some new popular rich kid because my mom drove a Cadillac. But as soon as I got out of the car their heads turned in disinterest. Except for a group of guys by a black BMW. I could tell because it was the same car my dad had before he died. They all seemed normal I guess. Emo is the word I'm looking for. One of them was tall with glasses and straight dirty blonde hair with a black jacket and jeans on. He kind of looked misplaced. Another was tall also, then again at 4'9 everyone was tall to me, he was wearing a plain brown shirt with jeans on but what stood out most was his afro. I didn't know they were still in style. Three more guys were by the car. Two kind of looked like were 'together' if you know what I mean (If not, I'm saying they look like they're dating). But the one that stuck out to me was a guy leaning up against the hood of the car, combat boots one up against the car the other on the ground, cigarette in hand, and fire truck red hair. I'm going to be honest, he was hot. But I thought it was weird that while all of the others lost interest in me quite quickly his gaze was still on me. Realizing that I was staring back I quickly focused on the ground walking into the building. My mom told me to go to the front office where they would give me my schedule and someone to show me my classes.
When I got to the office a lady with black curly hair stood behind the desk. She was on the phone but she heard the door close behind me so she looked up and smiled, telling the person on the other line that she would forward their call to the principle.
"Hello there, I'm Mrs. Vickers. You must me Frank, our new student."
"Yes, that would be me." I said trying to force a smile.
"Well I'll just grab your schedule and call up your tour guide." She seemed so happy. "You can take a seat there until he gets here."
I sat down on the bench right by the front desk. I've gotta say this school didn't look like hell. It looked nice and clean. On my way to the office I passed by the gyms. Yes that is supposed to be plural. There are two gyms. I really hope that doesn't mean two terms of PE. I'd die. Just then a shy looking kid with really tight jeans and a white jacket on came into the office. At first I thought he was a girl but I realized he didn't have boobs. But I mean the kid straightened his hair and was wearing eyeliner to so it was hard for me to tell. I had a little eyeliner on but mostly my red eye shadow around my eyes.
"Spencer, sweetie you'll be showing our new student, Frank, around the school and eating lunch with him today and for the next few days until he can find his own way around the school. Is that okay?" Mrs. Vickers informed Spencer of his job and then motioned for me to stand.
"Hi. My name is Spencer but you can call me Spence if you'd like." He stated, cheery.
"Frank." I said, picking up my schedule from the desk.
"What do you have first?" Spencer asked.
"Umm, biology." I said while examining the rest if the piece of paper in my hands.
"Cool. My buddy Jon Walker has that class first too. I'll make sure you sit next to him, he's a cool dude." Spencer explained.
"Okay boys, carry on before you make Frank late." Mrs. Vickers dismissed us from the office. Here we go.
Spencer showed me to biology and explained to me that he would introduce me to his friends at lunch and how we would probably be great friends. To be completely truthful, I hadn't been thinking about any thing but that guy. The one with the bright red hair. He was very hot but also very interesting. We got to the door of Mr. Brewers biology class and Spencer led me in, introduced me to the teacher and sat me down next to Jon then left. Jon was funny. He kinda came off with that pot head look but completely harmless no doubt. Mr. Brewer made me stand up and introduce myself to the class and then explained to everyone that I hadn't been in a public school for a little over four years and to be nice to me, I bet that helped with my fitting in. Still all I could think about was that guy. I had to know him. I had to see what he was all about. But above all I had to know why he was staring at me. Before I knew it the bell rang and everyone was rushing to second period, Spencer was standing outside the door when I got out of the class room.
"How was first period." He asked, enthusiastically.
"It was good. Jon is really nice." I said lazily. I was still thinking of that guy.
"Thanks man." I heard from behind Spencer. Jon was behind him. I had no idea.
"No problem." I said back.
"Okay, where to next my friend?" Spencer asked taking my schedule out of my hands.
"Oh dude, he has English!" Jon said excitedly.
"You're in second period English with Jon and I." Spencer explained. Revealing why Jon was so excited. "Come on. This is our last class before lunch then you have algebra and... band? You play and instrument?" Spencer said confused.
"Guitar." I said clarifying. "I heard I could play bass so I took the opportunity."
"Cool. Let's get to class." Spencer said giving me my schedule back.
I was a bit confused as to why my day was so much shorter than then Jon's and Spencer's so I asked .
"Hey guys, why is my schedule shorter than yours? You have two extra classes than me."
"Oh, that's just your starter schedule. You'll get a new one next week. You can request to have the same as me if you'd like." Spencer said enlightening me.
"Yeah. I think I'll do that." I said. Today wasn't so bad after all.
English kind of drug on. I guess it was because I was anticipating lunch so I could meet the rest of Spencer's friends. Spence and Jon were actually pretty cool. Jon complimented my t shirt in first period which automatically made him cool. Spence was pretty chill and laid back. I didn't know what kind of friends they would have had. But I was soon going to find out. The bell rang signaling lunch. Spencer told me that I would fit in with his friends. As we walked into the cafeteria I automatically spotted him. He was in the back corner at a round table with the rest of the guys that we're around the car earlier. We kept walking closer and closer. It was evident to me by now that these were Spencer and Jon's friends.
"Hey guys." Spencer said. Then all the guys looked up at Spencer, Jon and I. "This is Frank. He's new."
I could feel my cheeks begin to flush when I realized the red head was looking at me with a smile on his face. His perfect face.
"Frank, this is Mikey Way." Spencer said pointing to the kid with glasses that I didn't think fit into the rest of the group.
"That is Ryan Ross and Brendon Urie." He said pointing to the guys I thought were dating.
"This cool guy is Ray Toro." Spence explained pointing to the guy with the afro.
"You can call me Toro." Ray said to me with a nice welcoming smile. There was one more guy left. Him.
"And that is Gerard." Spencer finally said pointing out the hot guy with the red hair.
"Hello." Gerard said still smiling at me.
"Hey guys." I said to everyone. Of course the only seat left was the one next to Gerard which made me nervous. Brendon and Ryan answered my question, if they were dating, when they were flirting and kissing non stop. Once Brendon realized I was staring he asked "Does this bother you? Because if it does then we'll stop."
"No." I said. "I'm Bi so not at all." I explained.
"Oh really?" Gerard chimed into the conversation.
"Yeah.." I said a little confused as to why he would be second guessing.
"Everyone at this school is pretty much." Spencer said.
"Well at least I know that's one less thing I'll get picked on for." I said reluctantly.
"Yea." Mikey said laughing.
"Hey, Frank. We should hang out after school. Can we get your number so we can call you?" Toro said.
"Sure." I said taking Toro's phone from him. I entered my number into his phone and gave it back to him.
"Is your place cool?" Toro asked me.
"Yea. My mom works until eight so we can do what ever until then." I explained.
"Oh. Someone's getting some ideas." Said Gerard with a smile and a giggle.
"No, I didn't mean it like-"
"Chill dude he's just messing with you." Ryan spoke up.
"I'm not going to be with the rest if the guys after school. Can I have your number so I can meet up with you guys?" Gerard asked. I said yes and punched my number in his phone just as I had done with Toro's.
"Great." Gerard said as the bell rang signaling it was time for my third period which was algebra.
