Don't Stand So Close To Me

Chapter Twenty Seven

"Well, I'll give you a choice. You let me take Lana in as merchandise, and you're free to go Mr. Iero. Give me problems and I'll take the both of you back home to die a very painful, and very slow death. This is something my family specializes in, do take my word for It. So what will it be?" Lucas' dad gave a venomous smirk.

Frank and I stood there completely frozen, our hands grasping each other almost too tightly.

The room stood still till a quiet pair of feet came running to us from behind. My head snapped back in fear, processing the situation very slowly. Gerard was making his way toward us, a big smile on his face,

"RUN!" I screamed to him before Lucas' father had a chance to see his face.
He ignored my warning and continued over with confusion washing over his expression.

"What's wr-" His jaw dropped as his eyes met with Lucas' dad.

"Well, this is unexpected. Dear Mr. Way had I known you were involved with this sooner you'd already be dead. My son talks a great deal about putting a bounty on your head." He chuckled dryly.

"Oh shit." Gerard hissed.

"Damn how did he know we were here?" He turned to me and Frank, a strangely calm expression on his face.

"This is fucking serious!" Frank barked, smacking him upside the head.

Sometimes I wished I could be Gerard, so calm about everything. It was probably all the drugs.

"OW. HEY, was that really necessary?" Gerard grumbled, rubbing the back of his head.

"Well, to answer your question, the woman who works here is a family associate, whenever someone takes interest into our files she lets us know. She also informed me she gave a strange man a key in exchange for personal favors." Lucas' dad folded his hands together in a civil manner.

"Hey I'm not strange fuck you." Gerard glared at him. This time it was my turn to smack the back of his head.

"CAN EVERYONE STOP HITTING ME?" He yelled in response.

"SHHH!" I hissed.

"Do continue your antics, I'm so amused at the amount of positivity the lot of you have when you are minutes away from death." Lucas' dad laughed.

"Yeah, you and what army?" Gerard scoffed. I almost fell over. I was about to die thanks to Gerard and his stupid fucking sarcasm.

"No army. Me." He pulled a rifle out from behind the chair, handling it with care and wiping the nozzle off before pointing it at us aggressively, a deep set smile on his face.

"And the sniper standing outside of this building." He added with a chuckle.

"Ohhhh... Yeah. We're fucked." Gerard blew a deep breath of air out.

"So I give you a choice. You live but I take Miss Lana back home with me, no questions asked. You choose death and I kill you all. What will it be?"

We all remained frozen, but I knew what the right thing to do was, it was sitting in the back of my brain guilt tripping me and poking me with a stick. I swallowed the fear growing inside me and took a step forward.

"I'll go with you, no questions asked."

"NO." Frank reached forward and grabbed my arm, yanking me backwards. His words were almost like an order, like he was saying "Shut the fuck up and don't try to play hero right now." Restricting me like I were a child rather than his girlfriend.

"You're not going anywhere." He snapped at me.

Gerard stepped forward now, pulling a small pistol out from his back pocket very slyly.

"Fraid' he's right. She stays with us." Gerard frowned down at Lucas' dad, walking closer to him without hesitation. Lucas' dad looked confused, and hope sprang through my veins for the first time today.

"Then you die." He seethed, pointing the gun at Gerard first.

"Hmm," Gerard hummed.

They were about 5 feet from each other now, it reminded me of something out of a cowboy movie. My heart was just about ready to jump out of my chest.
I thought the first shot I heard fire was from Lucas's dad but the moment I saw his body slump to the floor and his tan suit wet with blood I knew we were safe.

Gerard had shot his left knee. Ouch. He fired again, this time hitting his hand.
I fell to my knees, the sound of the bullets releasing all the tension that had been in my body.

I thought he was done but when he fired once more at Lucas' dad my eyes widened.

"What are you doing?" I cried.

"3 shots. One for the each of us. His men won't come running in here in any case." Gerard pointed to the security cameras outside the archives.

I dragged a hand down my face, opening one eye to peak at Lucas' dad. He was now unconscious, the third bullet having hit his shoulder.

"Let's move, NOW." Frank yelled, grabbing my hand and running deeper into the archives.

"WHERE ARE YOU GOING? THE EXIT'S BEHIND US!" I screamed.

"The tunnels. If we go out the front door we're going to get shot Lana. Do you understand that?" Gerard replied, running a little bit ahead of us and turning his head back to answer me.

"W-Wha-?"

"Tunnels love. There's tunnels under this building that lead to another part of town." Frank said, now speeding up to a sprint.

"HOW DO YOU GUYS EVEN KNOW ALL THIS? WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS THE DAVINCI CODE?" I groaned, trying my best to keep up with Frank and Gerard while panting.

"We just do! Hurry, we're almost there!" Gerard snapped.

I braced myself and pushed through the stinging pain in my legs, now running fast enough to be next to Frank. Gerard suddenly halted at a huge red wall, I sighed in relief, gripping my aching side and attempting to catch up with my breath.

He analyzed it at first before reaching forward and feeling the wall up and down.

"What are you looking for?" Frank furrowed his eyebrows.

"A keypad." Gerard responded quietly as he was deep in thought.

I looked around the room for anything resembling a keypad, my eyes locking with a shiny metal box on a nearby desk. I walked over and flipped the box open, a keypad displayed in plain sight. I cleared my throat and the boy's heads snapped over to me.

"Found it." I grinned. Gerard sprinted over, frantically typing in a few numbers on the pad. When he was done his head shot back to the wall, confusion clear on his face.

Everything was silent, Gerard tried the code again, cursing under his breath.

"Maybe It's not-" My words were cut off by the sensation of the ground dissapearing underneath me, a scream replacing them instead.
I fell with a thud on my back, pain searing up and down my spine.

"Shit." I coughed, my eyes glued shut as I felt dust fall on my face. I heard a groan next to me and the same word repeated.

"Frank?" I whispered, my hand searching the ground next to me.

"Gerard. He didn't fall with us." Gerard sighed in frustration.

"ARE YOU GUYS OKAY?!" I heard a scream from above us.

"Splendid." Gerard spat back.

"WHAT DO I DO?" Frank yelled to us.

"You have to jump. This is the only way down, and I suggest you do it quickly before the doorway closes." Gerard replied.

"What's the code?" Frank asked.

"95326!" Gerard yelled back.

"You just want me to jump?!" Frank's voice sounded worried.

"No, I want you to fly, smart ass. HURRY THE FUCK UP!" Gerard groaned.

Frank looked around, contemplating his decision. I crawled out of the way despite the piercing pain running up and down my back, as much as I would love to cushion his landing I don't think my body would survive. Gerard did the same, allowing him a big space to fall onto.

Frank took a few steps back before sprinting forward and jumping into the gaping hole in the ground. He landed on his feet and hands in the middle of the space, standing back up completely unharmed.

"Aw fuck yeah!" He boasted, looking around him in amazement.

"Un-fucking-fair." I grumbled.

"Oh shit, baby did you get hurt?" He rushed over to me, slinking my arm over his shoulder and helping my stand.

"I'll be fine." I sighed.

"Uhm, hello, I'm hurt too." Gerard grimaced at us from the floor.
We rolled our eyes and hopped over to him, Frank helping him stand as well.

"What now? Do we go forward?" I glanced around the dark room we fell into, a seemingly endless tunnel extending in front of us.

At this point the door above us slammed shut, leaving us in the pitch black.

"Well, we're safe now. So we can rest for a minute before we continue. Recooperate from the fall." Gerard unhooked arms with Frank and sat down on the floor next to us.

I slowly slumped down as well, allowing all that just transpered to process in my brain. The second my bum touched the floor I felt like I was going to scream.

Confusion and shock raced into my thoughts, the only thing bouncing around being "What the fuck is going on?" We were all about as good as dead. I knew that for sure. I mean, why wouldn't Gerard finish the job why would he leave Lucas' Dad alive like tha-

I gasped, startling Frank and Gerard.

"YOU." I pointed at Gerard.

"Me?" He raised a tired eyebrow.

"I THOUGHT YOU WERE JUST AN ART TEACHER.. WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT?"
