***Gerard's POV***

I allowed Ivy to stay with me last night, too. I could see that she was still shaky about her mother. I woke up around 10:30, with my arms wrapped securely around her waist. I looked up, and leaned over her shoulder, staring at her sleeping face. I lightly kissed her cheek, before getting up, and heading downstairs to make myself a cup of coffee. I sat at the kitchen table with my head in my hands. I dreaded what's to come in a few hours. I still refuse to believe she's gone. I felt a single tear roll down my cheek, and quickly wiped it away when I heard Ivy drag herself down the stairs.

"Why'd you have to get up? I was comfy." she wined. She still had herself wrapped up in a blanket, and her hair was a mess. I giggled at her appearance, got up, and wrapped my arms around her, embracing her in a hug.

"I'm sorry, but I'm glad you're up. Today's gonna be a long day." I sighed. She nodded, and wrapped her arms around my torso, leaning her head on my chest.

"It's gonna be okay, Gee. I promise." she smiled. I returned the smile, and kissed her forehead.

"Do you still have your mind set on 'running away'?" I smirked.

"You know it. You're still coming with me, right?" I sighed, and stared at her, before slowly nodding.

"Do I really have a choice?" I sighed.

"Nope. Not really." she giggled, grabbing my hand, swinging it back and forth.

"Oh well." I sighed. "I'm guessing you didn't bring any clothes?" she looked down, and slightly nodded.

"I-I don't actually think I have anymore clothes, since she did, god knows what to all my shit." she sighed. I forgot her mother threw everything out.

"Alright, get ready. I think I might have some clothes you can wear in the meantime."

"Wait, what?" she gave me a confused look.

"I'm taking you shopping. You can't just wear the same clothes for the rest of your life. Come on, we have to hurry up. The funeral is in three hours." I sighed.

"A-Are you su-"

"Yes, you need clothes. They're a necessity, and don't even bother protesting to pay for them, cause it's out of the question."

"But-"

"Nope. Now lets go." I grabbed her hand, and dragged her up the stairs, leading her into my room. I knelt on the floor, going through my draws, when I found a pair of leggings, and a small T-shirt. I handed them to her, and she stared at me with questioning eyes.

"Uhm, Gerard? Why do you have women's clothing?" she whispered. I rolled my eyes, and ran a hand through my hair.

"They're my mom's. She likes to leave some of her clothes here, for when she visits." I laughed. She looked up at me, and smiled, heading to the bathroom to get changed.

"Thanks!" she called. I nodded, and continued searching through my closet for a suit.

We got back from the mall, where I bought Ivy countless items. I honestly didn't mind. As long as she likes, and wears them. One of the items I bought, was a small, black lace dress, that I had picked out, for the funeral.

I could feel the tears form, and threaten to come out once Ivy, and I got into the car, to head to the church. I don't know how, or even if I'll be able to cope with this. It all just happened so sudden. So unexpectedly. Before I knew it, I was bawling all over the steering wheel, unable to drive.

"Gee? Gee, are you o-okay? W-What's wrong?" her voice was filled with concern. I just kept my head down, and let the tears roll. "Please answer me. I-I dunno what to do." I could hear the panic in her voice, so I sighed, and looked up at her, not caring that my face was drenched in tears.

"I'm not ready." I cried, burying my face in her shoulder. She laid her chin on top of my head, and lightly ran her fingers through my knotted hair.

"It'll be okay, Gee. You'll get through this. I promise. I'll help you, and I'll do whatever it takes." she soothed. I looked up at her again, before a sudden urge came over me. I crashed my lips on hers, causing her to jump in shock. I don't care if it was random, I needed her lips on mine. She seemed confused at first, but soon caught on, and kissed me hard back. But all too soon, she pulled away. I frowned, and looked at her with questioning eyes. "Hun, I wanna kiss you, but this just isn't the right time. You're obviously extremely upset about all this, and I don't think making out is gonna help you." I stared into her eyes a little longer, taking her hand in mine, and interlocking our fingers. After a few seconds of silence, I sighed, and started the car.

We rode to the church in complete silence. Not necessarily an uncomfortable one, but one where neither of us dared to break it. I parked in the church parking lot, and ran a hand through my hair, resting my head on the steering wheel, before getting out to meet up with the family. I took Ivy's hand in mine, as we walked. I felt her body tense up, and I could see in her eyes that she was nervous. I stopped walking, and stood in front of her, stopping her in her tracks. I rested my hands in her hips, and laid my forehead on hers.

"Don't be nervous, baby. My family isn't one to judge. There is no one here that's not gonna like you. Plus, it's quite impossible not to like you anyway." I smirked.

"But, uhm. D-Do they, you know.. Know I'm your student?" she mumbled. I bit my lip, and stared at the floor in thought.

"Mikey knows. Only that you're my student. Not that we're dating.."

"So the rest of your family has no idea I exist?" she raised her voice a bit. I bit my lips again, and slowly shook my head.

"Fuck." she mumbled. "Well, should we tell them?"

"Not today. It would just be too much for them to take in.. I'll just say you're my friend, okay?" she sighed, and nodded in agreement. I took her hand in mine, giving it a light squeeze, as we began walking into the church. I quickly let go of her hand once I caught sight of my parents.

"Hello, sweetheart, how are you?" my tear stained mother asked, embracing me in a hug.

"I've been okay. Getting by." I sighed. She cupped my cheeks, and kissed both of them.

"I'm glad you're doing well." she sighed, before catching glimpse of Ivy. "Who's this?" she smiled warmly a her.

"Oh, this is my friend, Ivy. I brought her cause I thought it might be good to have someone, you know?" It was the truth, for the most part.

"Ah, well, it's very nice to meet you, Ivy." she smiled. "Gee, I'm gonna go take my seat, it should be starting soon. I suggest you do the same." she sadly smiled. I bit my lip, and nodded, discreetly taking Ivy's hand, and leading her to the seats.

***Ivy's POV***

The funeral began, and so did Gerard's tears. I felt so horrible, I had no idea what to do. He, and so many others were in hysterics, crying over his grandmother. It was extremely hard for me to watch, considering I barley know anyone, and I'm in a church surrounded by my boyfriend, and his family in hysterics. Gee kept his arms tightly wrapped around me, and his head buried in the crook of my neck. My entire neck, and shoulders were drenched in his tears. It broke my heart to see him this way. It was even worse than when I first visited him. I tried my best to somewhat calm him down, but it was no use. I looked down at him, as he cried onto my shoulder. He was clinging onto me as if his life depended on it. I took the sleeve of my dress, and gently wiped his tears with it, since i couldn't find any tissues. He looked up at me, and gave me a weak smile, before somewhat composing himself, and leaning his head back on my shoulder.

Towards the end of the funeral, Gerard's agonizing cries, turned into soft sniffles. His eyes were still red, and puffy, but he wasn't really crying as much. I flashed him a warm smile, and gave his hand a light squeeze. He looked down at me, and lightly pecked my nose, whispering a soft 'thank you' in my ear.

*******

After the service, the family held a small reception, where food, and drinks were served. Gerard spent the evening with his family, discussing the good times they had with Helena. It wasn't my place to be here. I had never even met Helena! No one knew who I was, and I was just in the way. When Gerard got up to go get himself some food, I quickly got up, and ran to the bathroom. Being around so many people was just giving me bad anxiety, and I couldn't take it anymore. I locked myself in the stall towards the end, and closed the lid on the seat, so I could sit. I took out my phone to see if by some chance, I had any messages. Nope. None as usual. I sighed, and closed my eyes, leaning my head on the stall door.

***Gerard's POV***

Once I came back with my food, Ivy was gone. I furrowed my eyebrows, and set my plate on the table, as I began searching the crowded room for her. Family members, and friends of my grandmother's, greeted me with sad smiles as I passed by them, in search for my girlfriend. Where the hell did she go? One moment she's right next to me, and the next, she's nowhere to be found. I sighed, and ran a hand through my hair, as I began to give up. This place isn't very big at all. It's impossible to loose someone. I walked back to my table, hoping she would be there. Then it dawned on me. She looked uncomfortable throughout the entire reception. When Ivy's uncomfortable, she hides herself in the bathroom. I quickly made my way to the girl's bathroom, and without hesitation, I opened the door, looking under each stall to see if I could recognize Ivy's shoes. I looked under the last stall, and saw black converse with rainbow laces. Bingo.

"Ivy, I know you're in there. Come on, don't hide. I know you feel uncomfortable, but there's really no reason. Like I said earlier, my family isn't one to judge. No one thinks you're the odd one out or anything. I promise. Ivy, please come out?" I pleaded.

"I-I'm just taking up your time with your family. Go do what you need to do. I'll be in here when you're ready to leave." she whispered.

"Ivy, don't be ridiculous. I'm not just gonna leave you in here, come on. Come out. We'll leave in a couple minutes, and then we can 'run away' like you wanted, remember?" I heard her shuffling, before her door flew open.

"I don't wanna rush you though. If you wanna spend more time with your family, I completely understand."

"Ivy, it's fine. I'm starting to get a little bored anyway."

"You sure?"

"Yes. We just have to say goodbye to everyone, and then we'll be on our way." I smiled. She returned the smile, and wrapped her arms around my neck, pecking my lips. We headed out of the bathroom, and I took her hand in mine, but soon released it, once I remembered our plan. I approached my parents, and we all exchanged our heartfelt goodbyes. Once my mom was finally done covering my face in kisses, Ivy and I left, and headed to my car.

"Alrighty, Ivy. Where are we going?" I asked, starting the car.

"Hmm. I wanna go to New York." she smiled widely.

I gave her a thumbs up, and nodded. "New York it is then."
