Life isn't fair

Chapter 3

The day grows longer with every weakening step they take. Some complain of hunger. Others are fatigued again. I find this is exactly what has happened before. Softly I announce,
"You may find breakfast in the dining room adjacent to the ballroom you awoke in. Living quarters are available on the fourth floor."

Each one started to make their way back toward where they came. Pete is the first to run. Some how he always feels the need for food. His companion Patrick follows at a decent walking pace. They all eventually make their way into the ballroom. There are six doors that take them to different places. Two are leading into bathrooms, 3 are torture chambers but not torture of the body but of the mind, and finally the last one leads to the dining area they all so desire. Each of them splits off a separate direction.

Gerard takes the first door he sees. He opens it to expose the torment that Hayley witnessed before. He sees what he believes to be a stranger little does he know that crying will become the most soothing sound he has ever heard in just a mere matter of days.

Tyler though fairly young in this group opens the next door beside Gerard's to find a television set sitting on the floor with two small children staring into a blank screen. He is paralyzed as the female looking figure with braided pigtails turns around to face him. Her eyes are an unholy red that pierces the very core of the young man. He turns quickly to not have those eyes stare any further into his soul. He slams the door shut instantaneously.

Brendon and Frank are both looking at the next door. Frank shakes his head that he refuses to open it. Brendon takes a long drawn out breath and opens the door. He twist the knob and pulls the door open cautiously. He peers inside to see a small light in what seems like a far off distance. Slowly though the light gets closer. He can see inside the light that seems to be approaching him more viciously with every second that draws on. He witnesses what is truly inside the light. As it is almost to him he slams the door shut fearful of what will soon haunt his nightmares for weeks to come.

Pete opens the next door. Pete tries desperately to act fearless at times. He has mastered this because he must be strong for his young son Bronx who looks up to him as his savior. If Bronx only knew what kind of man Pete really was. Pete opens the door with no fear playing along his face. He looks across the edge of the door to see a bathroom with many stalls and sinks. It does not look the cleanest but it would do. He smiles and turns to the others,
"This is only a bathroom! For the future this is where it is." Many sigh in relief at Pete's words.

Next to open a door is Hayley who has no fear. She is adventurous and daring. She swings the door open to expose a washroom with showers and tubs. She smiles pleased at the sight and clean smelling air.
"This one is only a wash room!" She says cheerfully. They all seem a little bit more cheerful.

Finally the last door where Billie stands. He smiles,
"Then this must be the dining hall." As he says the words he swings the door open to reveal the grand dining hall before them.

There is a long table in the center of the room with assorted foods placed about it. Each one of them takes a few steps until they are into the dining hall. They all sit down at no spot in-particular. Everyone begins to eat breakfast which is full of waffles, pancakes, sausage, toast, eggs and bacon as well. Orange, apple and grape juice fill their goblets to the brim. Everyone seems to be having a wonderful time. It is almost heartwarming, if you had a heart.

They feast on flesh as humans so often do. Each one talks, or tells a joke, but Ryan. Ryan picks at a pancake lightly. He knows what lies ahead is not full of merriment as the feast is. Ryan Ross holds the key to all of these people escaping, but his selfish nature ties him down along with his fears of ever being wrong.

Strange what character traits we have can effect others. This is why some of us fall so easily while others stand tall. Alas oh how the mighty must fall.
