Should I thank you for the Venom? (Redo)
Just hangin' with the Guys
Gee’s pov.
We all walked outside laughing. I couldn’t remember the last time I laughed like that was. We all finally settled down when we got to Lulu’s bike.
“Okay Frankie, off you go!” Lulu kind of dropped Frank, and he fell off her, barely landing on his feet.
“So what’s the plan?” Ray asked as Lulu unlocked her bike.
“We should all go over to Lulu’s to get Mikes and then head over to mine.” I said as we started walking to the gates. “Sounds good?”
“Yep!”
We spent our walk discussing our day. Lulu told Ray a little bit more about herself. We got to Lulu’s house in less than 10 minutes.
“Lulu, this is so cool! Mt house is just two blocks away!” I said.
“And my house is only a block away from Gee’s!” Frank squealed.
“My house is across the alley from here.” Ray said as a smile spread across his face.
“This is awesome! Back in Chicago, my closest friend lived four miles away.” Lulu beamed with pleasure.
“Wow, that must have been lonely.” Frank sounded slightly sad for her.
Lulu shrugged. “It was, but only sometimes.” Lulu smiled and unlocked her front door. “Come in!”
We walked into her house. It was one of the nicer ones on the block and I’ve always admired it. It wasn’t too big, just the right size. It had a warm and cozy homey feeling.
“Nice house!” Frank said while admiring the leather recliner in the living room.
Lulu beamed again. “Thanks!” She led us into a small hallway and then to a door that had a large black tree painted on it. It looked so life like it was hard to think that someone had painted it.
“Oh my god, Lulu! This painting is awesome! Did you make this?” It was breath taking, and the amount of detail was overwhelming.
“Uh, yesh?!” She sounded a bit embarrassed which shocked me even more. Frank and Ray were also staring in awe.
“Um, you guys stay down here until I tell you to come up.” Lulu said as she opened the door.
“Okay.” I said, a smirk playing at my lips. What’s she planning?
“Good!” Lulu said as she slipped through the door.
I heard a bit of conversation, but it sounded like it was coming from above me. Was her room on the second floor?
Mikey: “You’re back! Where are the guys?”
Lulu: “Shh, they’re at the bottom of the stairs in the hallway. I want to surprise them by how you look!”
Mikey: “Oh, okay! I bet some of the makeup came off, didn’t it?”
Lulu: “Yeah, but only a little bit. I can fix that in no time.”
I heard some shuffling as Lulu was probably looking for her stuff. About a minute later, Lulu called down.
“You can come up now!”
Frank opened the door and we were instantly met by a staircase. “Well I wasn’t expecting that!” Frankie sounded a bit startled by the stairs. We all walked up and saw Mikey, all cleaned up and looking flawless, sitting on the pink and gray bed from the picture. It was very pink!
Ray ran over and gently hugged Mikey and kissed him on the lips. Lulu, who was standing by a desk, and Frank, who was standing next to me, started to “Awww!” I just kind of stood there. It’s still weird to see one of my best friends kissing my little brother, but I’d get used to it eventually.
“Oh, Mikey, you scared me baby! I ‘m so sorry I didn’t do more to help you.” Ray looked lovingly into Mikey’s eyes as he said those words.
“But you did more than I could ask for. If it wasn’t for you, that guy would have kicked me all through lunch.” Mikey said while he cupped Ray’s face and kissed his nose.
“Okay love birds, as cute as this is, why don’t you finish this at our house, Mikey?” I loved the look on his face after I said that. He and Ray blushed, looking at us as if they forgot we were there.
“Yeah, okay, sorry Lulu.” Mikey and Ray ducked their heads in embarrassment.
Lulu just laughed. “It’s okay Mikey. You two are just so cute together!”
“Thanks Lulu!”
Meanwhile, Frank started getting bored from all the mushy, lovey stuff. I swear that kid has the attention span of a newborn puppy. How he skipped a grade is beyond my understanding. “Come on. Let’s go before Frank brakes something.” Those words came out of my mouth just as Frank picked up a fragile looking object from a shelf. At my words, Frankie put it down and walked away from it, looking embarrassed.
“Sorry” he mumbled as we walked back down the stairs and out of Lulu’s room. She led us outside where I took the lead.
“Onward to the Way residence!” I yelled in my mock explorer voice and pointed in the direction of my house. I grabbed Lulu’s and started skipping to my house just like at the beginning of the day. Soon Frank was also skipping beside us, and, after some heavy persuasion, Mikey had Ray skipping too. So there we were, four gay guys and one straight girl, skipping down the sidewalk in New Jersey.
We made it to mine and Mikey’s in two minutes. Skipping is apparently a lot faster than walking. We all stopped in a fit of giggles as I opened the front door.
“Mom, we’re home!”
My mom walked into the living room with a big smile on her face. “Well, I see the gangs all here!” I was hoping she would remember not to say anything about Bob’s absence. (I’ll get to that later.) My mom spotted Lulu and walked forward. “I knew I saw someone new! What’s your name, sweetheart?”
Lulu got shy again. “Hello Mrs. Way, My name is Lulu.” She stuck out her hand for my mom to shake.
“It’s very nice to meet you, Lulu! But please, call me Donna.”
Lulu smiled and looked less nervous. “Alright.”
“We’ll be in my room, okay Mom?” I could tell Lulu was feeling awkward.
“Okay. Behave yourselves and don’t do anything stupid, got it?” She looked at Frank more than anyone when she said that.
“Will do, Donna!” Frank smiled, knowing who the comment was directed towards.
As we walked to my room, I heard Mikey let out a sigh of relief. Thankfully Mom didn’t comment on his makeup.
I led the way down the stairs to my basement bedroom. It was red and black with a queen sized bed pushed against the wall. There were only two very small windows, so it was pretty dark.
“Nice room! It’s a bit darker than mine, but I like it!” Lulu said while running to my bed and snuggling into my plethora of pillows. The guys and I laughed. Mikey and Ray decided to snuggling on my couch while Frank and I sat on the bed with Lulu.
“So what do you all want to do? We could watch a movie, or we could play some video games.”
“There are only four controllers, Gerard.” Frank pointed out matter-of-factly.
“I can just watch! I don’t really play video games, I do like to watch!” Lulu chirped, clearly not wanting us to feel bad. She was so cute.
“Are you sure? We can always do something else.” I didn’t want her to feel bored.
“It’s fine! I used to watch my brother and his friends play before he went to college, and I’ve honestly started to miss it.” She was a strange girl, but that’s what made her fit so perfectly into our group.
“Okay, with that decided, what should we play?” Ray asked from his spot on the couch.
I slid off the bed and kneeled in front of the game cabinet. “Let’s see… we have war games, zombie games--” I was cut off by the sound of heavy footsteps upstairs.
“What on earth--?” was all Frank could get out when the basement door opened with a bang, and someone came running down the stairs.
“Guys, my mom got me transferred back!” There, standing at the bottom of the stairs, slightly out of breath, stood Bob Bryar, the fifth and final member of My Chemical Romance. He had short blond hair and dull blue eyes. He had a nice build and looked like he might have been a football player. If I didn’t know him, I probably would have been scared to death, he looked that intimidating.
Frank got off my bed and launched himself at Bob.
“Bobert! Are you serious, you’re really going back to Belleville High with us?!” Frank just about screamed as he tackled Bob in a hug.
Bob hugged back. “Yep, no more Catholic school for me!”
Ray, Mikey and I all got up from our places around the room to give our friend a hug.
“It’ll be nice having you back, man!” Mikey said looking more relaxed. He was probably thinking about what happened earlier today.
“I know, right? That school was driving me insane!” Bob laughed but looked closer at Mikey. “Mikes, are you wearing makeup? Is that eyeliner I see?” Mikey started to blush, but Bob ruffled his hair. “It’s okay! I like it. It suits you.”
“Thanks for the approval, sir!”
We all started laughing at Mikey and Bob’s conversation when Bob spotted something behind us. He had a confused look on his face and his voice was uncharacteristically soft when he spoke. “And who just you might be?”
Ray, Mikey, Frank and I turned around to see Lulu still sitting on my bed, but she was pushed so far back into the pillows that you could barely see her. I felt really bad for kind of forgetting her. She looked so shy and awkward; I was worried that Bob might scare her. He walked forward and Lulu sat up a bit.
“Um, my name’s Lulu.” She scooted next to Bob as he sat on the bed next to her and put his hand out for her to shake.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you, Lulu. If you haven’t already guessed, I’m Bob.” Bob earned a small giggle from Lulu at that remark. “Are you new to town?” He spoke so softly that all I could do was stare.
“Yeah, I just moved here from Chicago at the beginning of summer.” Lulu looked like she was getting a bit more comfortable.
“That’s so cool! I’m from Chicago too! Wow, this must be quite a change for you, isn’t it? ‘Cause it was for me.”
Lulu smiling and seemed really happy that she knew a fellow Chicagoan or whatever they call themselves. “Yeah, it is. I just really miss my friends.” Then, without warning, Lulu started sobbing. In a second, I was on the other side of the room, sitting on the bed with Lulu pulled into my lap. She had her arms around my waist and was crying into my chest.
“Shh, Lulu, what’s wrong? What happened baby?” I had no idea what had set her off, and I was pretty sure that it wasn’t Bob.
“Oh G-Gee. It h-hurts. It h-hurts so m-much to b-be forg-gotten!” she whispered in between sobs.
Who did this to her?
We all walked outside laughing. I couldn’t remember the last time I laughed like that was. We all finally settled down when we got to Lulu’s bike.
