Should I thank you for the Venom? (Redo)
Will he bo Okay?
Gee's pov.
I watched as Lulu and Mikey rode off towards Lulu's house. Ray had sat on the ground with a blank look on his face. Frank and I sat next to him.
“Hey Ray, what happened back there?"
Ray took a deep breath and started to tell us what had happened. "Mikey and I have the same division, so we spent the morning talking and listening to music. When we heard the lunch bell, we went to our lockers really quick to grab our bags. When we were in the hallway, I gave Mikey a quick kiss on the forehead. I didn't even kiss him on the cheek or anything. But those jocks saw. They started calling us names like f.." Ray sniffed and couldn't finish the word.
"Don't worry, you don't have to say the word. We know what you mean." Frank rubbed his back as he said it. Ray continued.
"Then they came at us. Two of them held me against the wall as the third dragged Mikey into the middle of the hallway. The guy started kicking Mikey, then picked him up and punched him in the face a few times. Mikey screamed so loud; he cried and begged the guy to stop, but he just did it harder." Ray had started to shake at the memory.
Frankie put an arm around him and cooed. "It's okay Ray. Can you keep going?"
Ray nodded and continued. "I broke away from the two guys that were holding me just as the one guy dropped Mikey back onto the ground. I pushed him off Mikey, and pulled him to his feet. I remembered that we were supposed to meet you guys out here, so I led Mikey to the front. Mikey had been roughed up pretty bad and we almost got caught by those idiots a few times."
"And no one did anything to help?! Not even the teachers?! What, is everyone in this school f***'in deaf or something?!" Frank was pissed and had his fists balled.
"Woah, Frankie. Calm down. There's nothing we can do but hope that Lulu can fix Mikey up." I put an arm on his shoulder and he relaxed at my touch.
"She seems really nice" Ray said. I was really glad that he approved of her.
"Yeah, she's nothing like the bitches around here. But you can tell she must have had it rough at one point." Frank could surprise me with what he observed. I had noticed the same thing.
"She's helped us so much already, maybe we can help her too."
"I hope so. You can tell her eyes aren't as bright as they should be." Frank sighed and layed his head on my shoulder. Sparks went through me as I brushed some of the hair out of his eyes. "Then again, our eyes aren't as bright as they could be either."
"True."
Ray scooted over so his head was on my other shoulder. "But what if he got really hurt? What if he was just hiding it from us? God, this is all my fault! I can't even take care of my own boyfriend." Ray finally broke. He couldn't stop trembling as sobs wracked his body.
"Ray, this isn't your fault. You did you best to protect him. It's the world's fault for being so cruel." I was practically quoting Lulu from before, yet I wasn't listening to it myself. I still blamed myself for what happened to Mikes.
I wrapped an arm around Ray's broad shoulder. I placed a gentle kiss on his mop of hair. His sobs slowed and finally stopped. "Ray, you must be exhausted. Try to get some rest. Frank and I won't leave you."
"Thanks guys."
"Anytime buddy."
Ray's breathing slowed to a regular pace.
"Ray really does care about Mikey, doesn't he?" Frank said as he cuddled up to me.
"Yeah, he sure does. Do you want to come around today after school? We can invite Lulu, and I think Ray was coming anyways." I really wanted to get to know Lulu and have her get to know the guys and me.
"That would be nice. Then we can all relax and figure out what's going on."
"My plan exactly. For now I'm just gonna listen to some music. Is that cool with you?"
Frank nodded. "I was also gonna do that."
We both put in our ear buds and tried to pass the time.
*TIME LAPSE*
I was listening to some Green Day when my phone buzzed.
< I'll be at school soon!
<3 -Lulu. >
Underneath was a picture of Mikey laying on a pink and gray bed looking better than I've ever seen him. He looked brand new. I giggled at how cute he looked. I was so glad to see him again. But then I re-read the text. Why would she put "I'll be at school soon" if there was two of them? Was he not coming with her? Or was I just taking this way too seriously? I was starting to feel a little panicky as I roused Ray and interrupted Frank from his hardcore head banging. I trying staying calm to not give away my worry.
"Lulu texted me. She's almost here."
"Oh, I hope Mikey's okay." Ray's voice was thick with concern as he stretched from his nap.
"He's fine. She sent me a picture of him." I showed Frank and Ray the pic of Mikey in what I assumed was Lulu's room.
"Wow. He looks amazing. Lulu did a really good job on him." Ray smiled a bit as he looked at the picture of his cleaned up boyfriend.
"Yeah. I'm glad he's okay." Frank also sounded relieved.
"Hey guys!" We turned around to see Lulu behind us.
"Hey Lulu." I gave her a hug but realized that Mikes wasn't with her. Concern and worry had taken over. "Where's Mikey?" Ray and Frank's smiles had melted away.
"Don't worry. Mikey is completely fine. He was just too scared and exhausted to come back, so I let him stay at my house. I didn't want to force him back here. He was crying, he was so scared." Lulu whispered the last part so only I could hear.
I pulled her back into another hug. "Thank you. He can get anxiety attacks really easily and panics a lot. I don't know what we'd do without you."
Lulu slowly pulled out of the hug and handed me a piece of paper.
"Just give this to the office so they know why he isn't at school."
I looked at the fake note she wrote. "You are a genius, Lulu."
"Why, thank you!"
"Hey guys, lets take this to the office and get ready for class."
"Okay!" Frankie skipped over to me so he could walk by my side.
Ray had hung back to have a word with Lulu. "So Mikey's okay?"
"Yes Ray, Mikey is completely fine. He was just too scared and I didn't want him to freak out."
I watched out of the corner of my eye as Ray leaned down and hugged Lulu. "Thank you for taking care of him. He means a lot to me."
"I know. He means a lot to me too." I turned around to watch the warm embrace. Lulu looked so beautiful and gentle. Yet her eyes were still a bit too dim.
Frank turned me back around and we all kept walking. "How have we gone on without her, Gee?"
"I don't know but I think she can help fix us."
"She already has."
