Your Guardian Angel (On Hiatus)

Chapter 2

Gerard’s POV

Blip…Blip…Blip…

I groan. What is that insane beeping? It can’t be time to get up for school yet. I peek one eye open and immediately shut it again. This is not my room. It’s way too bright and white to be my room. I slowly reopen my eye and look around. I’m lying in a bed, surrounded by machines. A hospital. Great.

“You’re awake!” Mikey says from beside me. I hadn’t realized he was there.

“Thank you, Captain Obvious.” I say, “Now tell me something I don’t know. Preferably why I’m in a fucking hospital.”

“You mean you don’t know?” I look at him like he’s stupid. Clearly if I knew I wouldn’t have asked, “You almost died, Gee…” he whispers softly.

That’s a bit of a shock, “What?”

He points at my left arm and for the first time I notice that it’s completely wrapped in bandages.
“I-I found you in the woods…There was a puddle of blood, and…You were clutching this.” He holds up my still blood stained razor. There are tears in his eyes, “Why would you try to kill yourself?”

And then I remember. The woods. The pond. The need to tear into my flesh until the world turned crimson…I hug Mikey close.

“Oh, no, Mikes. That’s not what I was trying to do. I just…Got carried away…”

He shoves away, suddenly angry, “Carried away?! How can you say that?! How long have you been cutting yourself?!”

I look down, “I’m not sure. It just started one day…”

“Yeah, well, it’s not going to happen anymore. I hid this piece of crap,” he holds up the razor,
“and tried to tell them that it was a wild animal. But they found your old scars and wouldn’t believe me.”

“Oh, god,” I say, “That means therapy…”

“Which you clearly need. Why do you do it anyway?”

“I’m not sure. It’s like I know I should be happy, but I’m not. And then I want to cut, and…It’s just weird.

“Well I refuse to let you die for something you can’t even explain.”

I sigh, “I know. I’m sorry. When can I go home?”

“The doctor said as soon as you woke up and checked out.” He holds out a bag, “I brought you clothes. I’ll be in the waiting room.”

A very attractive nurse walks in as I am pulling on my pants.

“Oh!” She exclaims as I hurriedly button them, “They said you’d be asleep.”

“Nope. I’m up and kicking.”

“In that case, please wait here while I go get the doctor.”

I sigh as I sit back on the bed. I so don’t want to deal with this.

After a lengthy interrogation and lecture about my “irresponsible response to depression” I’m finally free to go. And I couldn’t be happier about it. Hospitals have always freaked me out. Too many needles converged in one place.

“Oh, hey,” Mikey says on the way home, “I forgot to tell you: a guy moved in across the street while you were in there. You’ll probably like him. His name’s Frank.”

“Interesting name. Hopefully he’s an equally interesting person.”

Frank’s POV

I hold my breath as I see Gerard walking into his house. I don’t know what to do. On one hand, I should get started as soon as possible. On the other, is it rude to introduce yourself to someone who you know just almost died? I really don’t know. Angel’s don’t die unless our Essence is stolen. And then we merely cease to exist. However, I have been talking to Mikey over the past couple of days. He’s actually a really cool guy and my ticket into Gerard’s trust and friendship.

I take a deep breath and walk across the street, quickly knocking on the door. Mikey answers it.

“Hey, Frank! You’re just in time. Gerard just got home.”

“Oh, cool,” I say, “Can’t wait to meet the subject.”

He looks at me weird, “Uh…What?”

I mentally smack myself. Of course this is a secret, “The subject of our conversation for the past days,” I amend.

He shrugs, “You really are strange, Frank. Gerard will love you.”

He leads me down a hallway and into the basement. It’s really dark down here, and my eyes take forever to adjust. Mikey knocks on a door that is clearly marked in large red letters: “NO PARENTS!”

“Go away!” a voice calls from within.

“But Gerard! Frank’s here and I really want you to meet him!”

There is a very annoyed sounding sigh accompanied by footsteps. Then the door opens. Gerard is standing on the other side. Up close, I can see that he is very beautiful. His skin is smooth and pale. His eyes are a bright and captivating hazel. He has soft looking pink lips and a button nose that somehow make him look innocent. This is made even starker by his tousled black hair.

He looks me over, “You’re shorter than I imagined.”

“Oh, well, I haven’t really had time to gr—” I stop myself, “I drank a lot of coffee as a kid.” That stunts human growth right?

He grins, “Sweet. I’m a coffee addict myself. Mikey, too.”

“Nice.”

“As much as I love standing awkwardly in the doorway, are you ever going to let us in?” Mikey inquires.

“Oh, yeah, sure,” Gerard steps to the side, “Sorry ‘bout the mess. I haven’t been home in a while.”

“That’s fine,” I smile sadly at him, “Near-death experience is definitely a good excuse.”

He looks at Mikey, “You guys are already good friends, then. Very trusting.”

Mikey shakes his head, “No, I…I didn’t tell him…I said you were on a trip.”

I really need to just keep my mouth shut. Everything that comes out is suspicious. At this rate my cover will be blown by the end of the day, “I…uh…well…That is…” Luckily I happen to spot some red-speckled white beneath his sleeve, “Your wrist! I saw the bandage and…I’m sorry; I shouldn’t have jumped to conclusions.”

He pulls his sleeve down and smiles, which confuses the hell out of me. I mean, not literally because otherwise I’d be home by now, “Frank, if you’re stalking me you can just say so. I know I’m irresistible.”

Play along. Just play along, “Well, yeah. You know, creeping’s a pretty big hobby of mine.”

He laughs, “All right, I like you, Frankie.”

“Frankie?” I’m confused. There’s nobody else in the room. Who’s Frankie?

He shrugs, “I like nicknames. You can call me Gee if you want.”

Oh, right. Nicknames. Yet another human custom that baffles me, “Okay, Gee,” I grin at him.”

Gerard’s POV

There was something weird about that Frank guy. This is what I’m thinking as I lay in my bed throwing a ball into the air. The way he talked was just really…proper. And he’s hiding something behind that proper speech. I have no idea what it is, but it appears to involve me so I’m going to try to get it out of him. However, his speech says nothing about his looks. The two things are completely different. With his weird red mohawk thing and all those piercings and tattoos you’d expect him to be in some trashy punk band. But beneath it all is some strange…I guess it’s almost a glow. He’s almost unearthly beautiful with his pale, smooth skin and wide golden eyes. It draws me toward him in a way…Okay, no. I’m stopping that thought there.

Then there was the strange way he acted…Getting giddy over the simplest things. Like when I asked him if he wanted to kill some zombies (I mean, who doesn’t know what Black Ops is?) and he replied with an overenthusiastic “Fuck yeah, man!” followed by a squeaky giggle and the words, “Cussing is so much fun!”

Maybe he was a sheltered child and went crazy with freedom…Mikey did say he was emancipated. Yeah, that would explain a lot of things. I sigh and turn over in bed, still not completely satisfied with my conclusions. Frank Iero is going to be one tough nut to crack.

Notes

Hello my loveys! I'm sooooo sorry it's been so long! I mean, a girl gets her computer fixed just to be thrust into a boring world of no internet forever. My gracious friend is now allowing me to use hers.

I do have some things to report . On my Wattpad account (www.wattpad.com/user/MrsLester) I am going to be posting a couple non MCR related stories. If you're a fan of any of these youtubers: danisnotonfire, AmazingPhil, charlieissocoollike, ninebrassmonkeys, Crabstickz, or kickthepj, then pleeeeaaaase go chech them out. They are titled Charlie is So...Pregnant Like?! and Mama Crabstickz.

Also, I am staring a frerard manga. So scary to delve into this world, but yes. It will be a graphic novel recreation of one of my all time fave fics: The Hoodie. I found this on ficwad.com and I have full permission from the author. I will (eventually) be posting it on my deviant account (www.hyper-maniac33.deviantart.com) check that out too if ye be willing.

@Stitches
Well, see, there was no wifi at my house to begin with. I've been feeding off of going to friends' houses, but I've been super duper busy with school functions recently so I haven't been able to do that recently ^-^'
