Jet's POV

~~~
It took a moment or two for me to truly register what was happening, I'd heard the words but I didn't know what they meant.
Well I did but it didn't seem possible, the bank was being robbed.
How could I get caught up in the middle of a bank robbery?
Why on earth would bank robbers want to come to this bank, there's a much bigger one in the city with a shitload more money.
What did I do to deserve this?
What did anyone do to deserve this?
I can't handle a robbery, I'm supposed to be going to class, not being taken fucking hostage!
I've got ADHD, I'm going to get people killed, I'll start babbling and guns will start going off, I have no doubt.
When I was a little kid I used to get in trouble for my ADHD all the time, I'd get other people in trouble because of it.
I just know it's going to carry over to this situation, why shouldn't it, I'm unlucky, I'm clumsy, I'm everything you don't want in a hostage.
On top of it I can have a big mouth when scared, that's not a desirable thing to have either.
Shit, what if I get Vera killed?
Her parents will never forgive me for as long as I live if that happens, they'll hate me.
What about my parents?
They'll kill me if I get killed, with a rope or a gun or something, I don't bloody know.
I'm supposed to be alive, I'm supposed to go to medical school and get a degree and get a job as a doctor in a hospital.
People were screaming and Vera was clinging to my arm and I could hear her breathing hard, she was more freaked out than me.
"I said get against the goddamn wall!" Despite all the people panicking I managed to keep myself calm and robotically walked towards the wall, Vera following behind me.
"J-Jet," she whispered, her hand clutching me began to shake and I turned to look at her.
"Everything's going to be okay, just don't say anything unless you have to," I whispered back and she nodded, her eyes were starting to look watery, I'd forgotten she cries when scared.
We stood in line at the wall with everyone else, Vera was next to me with the guy who ran the bank standing on my left side.
Trying to not make eye contact with the robbers I slowly lifted my head to look at them.
The white haired guy, the one from the coffee shop was standing there holding a large gun fully decked out with almost every accessory possible. A large, black, duffle bag sat at his feet, ammunition and other kinds of weapons spilling out.
How did he get all of that in the bank?
"Gee, is there anyone over there?" The white head asked the man that'd managed to get behind the counter.
My mouth fell open at the sight of him, that's the guy I bumped into on my way out of here, he's one of the robbers.
I'm lucky he didn't shoot me.
"Yeah just-ugh, hang on," he leant down, appearing to reach for something or another and there was a shrieking sound from behind the counter.
He straightened, tugging a screaming woman up by the wrist and pulling her out of a tellers booth.
'Gee' had an interesting look about him, long black and blonde hair and I think he was wearing a bulletproof vest over a black hoodie. His nose was turned slightly up, lips pulled into a thin line. His hazel eyes stood out effortlessly against his paler than pale skin. Then the most fascinating thing was how he managed to look completely innocent despite the gun hanging from a strap around his neck.
"Did you push the button?" White hair said, looking at the woman who'd stopped screaming when 'Gee' put her with everyone else standing by the wall.
"Wh-wh-what b-button?" She stuttered, barely managing to get the words out, I think her name was Jolene.
"Don't play dumb with me, you know what I mean. The silent alarm button," slowly as if she were afraid to do it Jolene nodded her head and the White Hair's eyes grew dark in response.
"Looks like we're all gonna be here for longer than expected then," Gee commented to White Hair, putting one hand on his gun.
Gee continued to talk to his fellow robber, speaking too low for anyone to hear him. It looks like he's friends with his accomplice or at least known him for a while, they seem very comfortable around each other.
They said some 'uh-huh's and 'yeah's before turning to the group of what could only be considered hostages.
"Whose got the keys to the security door at the front of the bank?" Vera's grip on my arm instantly tightened and I felt her shaking even harder than before.
Vera was in control of locking up at the end of the day, she was the only one who could close the security door, the keys would be in her pocket. White Hair took a step closer to the group and by then Vera was shaking so hard it felt like she was vibrating, she was having a panic attack, I knew it.
"Vee, it'll be alright. Take deep breaths," I murmured to her, turning my head ever so slightly and making eye contact with her, she nodded barely moving her head but it was enough for me to see.
"Do you have something to share with the group?" White Hair asked, appearing so suddenly in front of me that I felt like I almost had a heart attack.
My face flared red, I didn't like being talked to by strangers, it didn't matter who they were or what they were doing. Carefully so he wouldn't notice I edged my hand over to the belt around Vera's waist and grabbed the keys hanging off it.
"I have the keys," I told him and got an alarmed look from Vera who realised what I'd just done.
"Good," he smiled wickedly at me and grabbed my arm, pulling me away from Vera who was forced to end her death grip on my wrist.
"Don't take your eyes off her for a second," White Hair said to Gee who was standing there, looking a mixture of agitated and worked up.
Without a word Gee grabbed the sleeve of my jacket and pulled me towards the front door.
At first my brain hoped they were going to let me go, then I realised two things.
White Hair told him to not let me out of his sight and two, I wasn't going to leave Vee here no matter what.
"Don't try anything," he spoke with the low voice you'd associate with a bank robber.
"Wasn't planning to," I replied, still struggling to raise my voice above a whisper.
I'd seen Vera closing up the bank, once, so this could either go in a good or a bad direction.
I stopped at the doors, there was no one outside yet which means Jolene must have just pushed the silent alarm, plus the police are on the other side of town.
Now if I remember right the security things should...here.
Problem, I can't reach the handle, I'm too short and Vera uses a hook to grab it too. I don't know where the hook is and I doubt the robbers would give me the chance to look for it.
Gee lifted his head, looking at the small handle I'd been attempting to move through telekinesis for who knows how long. Giving me a suspicious glance or two he slowly reached up, having to jump a little, and grabbed the handle, pulling it down with him.
There was the rattling sound of the security door and I caught it before it could smash on the ground.
"Thanks," I mumbled to him and a moment later as I was locking it up I realised that I'd just thanked a burglar, who the fuck does that?
Me apparently.
"There's another door," he told me as I started walking back to the group and I looked where he was pointing.
"Oh," I mumbled and shuffled to what I was pretty sure was the last form or security protecting the front of the bank.
It was made out of bulletproof glass, I thought, pulling it from one side of the entrance way to the other.
This feels like I'm officially sealing my fate.
Gee and I were walking back when I heard the first round of police sirens going off.
"Shit," he said under his breath, not sounding angry, just frustrated, he'd obviously been hoping no one would push the silent alarm.
"How many more exits are there in this place?" White Hair was talking the bank manager, standing right in front of him and unknowingly scaring Vera who was only a few feet away.
"Only one, it's out the back," the bank manager pointed at the door separating the public area of the bank and the staff only space behind the counter and beyond.
"Take her," White Head started, looking at Gee and me, "to the exit, lock the door and barricade it."
Before I could say anything else Gee had grabbed me again and was pulling me towards the back of the bank.
I have no idea what I'm doing, I've never been there before but they think I'm security or something.
"What's your name?" Gee asked and my face immediately went red, I really don't want anyone talking to me, it doesn't matter what the situation is.
"It's Jet," I whispered, staring at the ground and only looking up when he stopped pulling me along.
We were standing by the last door with access to the outside in the building and I felt like a jumble of nerves when I shakily unclipped the keys from the loop on my shorts.
I found what I believed was the right and stuck it into the door, getting a click when the lock rolled over.
"Give me the keys," Gee said, holding his hand out and I placed them on his palm, "now let's barricade the door." I felt like an idiot for helping the robber trap everyone in here but it's not like I had an option.
We pushed a desk in front of the door and stacked another desk on top of it then continued piling objects on till it was obvious even an elephant couldn't get in. When we walked back in, Gee not dragging me this time, White Hair was sitting on the counter, gleefully swinging his legs back and forth.
I know he's more than likely an asshole to be robbing a place but should he feel that happy about it?
"Good, you're smart enough to listen. Maybe I won't have to kill anyone," Vera's eyes went wide at the mention of the word 'kill' and I wanted to comfort her.
"Will the police be able to get in?" He asked Gee who had his arms crossed over his chest, a stern look on his face.
"There's always a chance but we'll know about it when they do," he replied, taking a warning glance at me when I started to walk back to my friend, I stopped, not wanting to be shot or killed.
"We're going to have so much fun in here!" White Hair said, clapping his hands together and grinning at the people standing against the wall.
I wanted to hit him.
I've got anger issues that'll kick in, in high pressure situations and I have the feeling this is one of those times. I think giving an introvert anger problems is the meanest thing possible. It's not only forcing you to socialise it's making you confront others.
Instead of yelling at White Hair I clenched my hands into fists and took a few deep breaths.
I'm gonna need to keep myself calm or I might get everyone here killed by accident, including myself.
"I'm sure we're going to make some lovely bonds while in here and waiting for our inevitable demise so in the meanwhile you may all call me, Pax. I also answer to Sir, Master and anything else along those lines," I'd love to call him 'he who is dead.'
"In case you haven't figured it out yet his name," Pax pointed to the other robber who'd shot me a warning look, "is Gee."
It might be a little early in the scenario but I'm getting a strong feeling that Pax has one or more screws loose. Actually I think his brain's a toolbox.
This is the kinda guy you see in movies who ends up killing everyone no matter what promises he makes leading up to it.
I can only hope that Gee has a bit more common sense even if he may be a man of fewer words than his friend.
There's always a chance I could be really lucky and it'll turn out Gee will have enough of a conscious to talk Pax out of what he's doing.
But then again it could have been his idea in the first place.
Just because you look sane doesn't mean you are.
The sound of ringing went off through the bank and Pax's eyes quickly went to the door the noise was travelling from. Slowly as if I dangerous animal might come running at him from the managers office he stood up and walked across the room.
We all knew what this ringing was for, we've reached that moment in the movie when the police make an attempt to bargain the robbers into releasing hostages. As much as I didn't want to admit it to anyone, especially myself, I didn't believe we'd be going anywhere anyone soon.
This guys to right kind of whack-job who'd slaughter everyone in the room the kill himself over being taken to prison.
And as for Gee?
I didn't know yet.
With him being distracted by what his friend was doing I ran over to Vee who immediately hugged me, looking like she was about to break out crying any second.
The ringing in the room ceased and Pax causally walked back, holding the phone with the cord trailing behind him.
He sat on the counter once more, resuming the swinging of his legs with the phone now sitting in his lap.
The ringing started up again and an evil grin spread across his thin lips, looking worse than any villain I'd ever seen.
"Let the fun begin," he announced to the room and I felt Vera shake as she grabbed at my arm desperately.
He pushed a button, putting the phone on speaker and tucking a piece of white hair behind his ear.
"Hello, Monroeville bank, how may I help you?"
