See The Rust Through Your Playground Eyes

Twenty Two

"A-aw! S-so s-sweet!" Frankie cooed when I finished reading the cheesiest romantic novel ever to be written in the history of literate to him. Why the hell is this book even here? Who bought it and why? At least Frankie likes it. 'Like' is an understatement, the boy is squealing.

"I'm glad you enjoyed it." I dumped the book on the table, not bothering to move from my seat on the fluffy arm chair. Frankie was sitting next to me, leaning on my shoulder, his arm thrown over my middle. I had my arm around his shoulder and my head leaning against his.

He snuggled up closer to me. Finding my hand and entwine his fingers with mine. I looked down at our linked hands, it was funny how our hands fit together so perfectly. Maybe I'm just seeing things -I love Frankie so much, I want to convince myself he loves me too- but I think Frankie's thinking the same. Maybe he pays even more attention to the small details than me. Does he notice how perfectly his body fits against mine? Or how right it feels to have his lips on mine? Does he notice all that? Or are those things not even there? Am I just trying to make myself believe he loves me back? The way he smiles at me as he covers my hand with both of his small ones makes me think it's not all in my head.

I sighed and closed my eyes, relaxing in to the fluffy chair and the heat of Frankie's small body against mine. I was just dozing off when I felt Frankie kiss my cheek. I opened my eyes and looked up at him, "What's wrong, hun?"

"Y-you s-sleepy?"

I sighed, "Kind of." I slept an hour at the most last night, and that was a good night. The last two weeks have been sleepless nights.

"W-wanna g-go s-sleep?" he asked.

"Actually, I wanted to stay here with you." I answered. I was tired, but spending time with Frankie was much better than sleeping.

"O-okay." he smiled. He snuggled back in to my shoulder, I ran my fingers through his long hair.

"Gee-rawrd?" Frankie spoke a few minutes later.

"Yes, hun?"

"M'b-bored." He mumbled.

"What do you want to do?" I asked, looking down at him. He scrunched up his nose and squinted his eyes, that was so cute.

"D-dunno."

What could be a good place to take Frankie? Suddenly I had an idea, "Want to go to the movies?" I asked.

He smiled, "Y-yeah!"

"Okay, let's go."

We left the library and headed towards the garage, though Linda stopped us before we could even get out of the house.

"W-where are you two going?" She asked cautiously.

"T-the m-movies!" Frankie squealed.

Linda glared at me, "Frank, I think Gerard is tired and wants to spend some time by himself." she said, rather rudely. She spoke to Frankie, but was looking at me.

"W-what?" Frankie threw his arms around my neck and pulled me down to his eye level, "Y-you d-don't l-l-like m-me?" I could see his big eyes fill with tears.

"No! Frankie it's not that. Linda doesn't know what she's talking about."

He looked deep in to my eyes and I felt him lean closer. We were dangerously close, our lips a mere inch apart. I quickly pulled away and looked at Linda who was staring at me as if I had just done something terrible, I might as well had.

"We'll be leaving now." I said, then grabbed Frankie's hand and lead him out of the house and to the garage.

He pulled his hand out of my grip the second we were in the garage. He looked angry.

"Frankie, hun? What's wrong?" I asked him softly.

He scooted away from me, crossing his arms and leaning back against my Ferrari. He looked down at his shoes and ignored me.

"Frankie?" I walked to him.

He looked up at me with big hazel eyes and batted his eyelashes. He gave me a soft sideways smile and uncrossed his arms, he looked so sexy. How does he do it? How can he look so insanely good? I leaned in close to him, resting a hand on his hip and the other on the car door behind him. I leaned forward a little bit more, expecting to feel his lips, instead being met by air.
He dodged me? What the hell?

"D-doesn't f-feel so n-nice, huh?" he said, he pushed past me and went to the Lamborghini, got in to the passenger seat and closing the door. Leaving me standing there like an idiot.

Oh, so this is revenge for not kissing him back in the house?

After I composed myself I went to the car and sat in the drivers side. Frankie had his arms crossed over his chest and was glaring out the window.

"I suppose you're mad because I didn't kiss you?"

"N-naw! Y-ya'think?" He said sarcastically.

I sighed and rubbed my eyes, "I can't kiss you in front of your mother, you know?"

He didn't say anything, but he uncrossed his arms and started biting his lip.

"Y-yeah. S-sorry." It was so hard to not stare at his lips.

"It's okay. Just don't get mad next time, okay?" I said.

He nodded and leaned over pulling me down by the collar of my shirt. He bit his lip again, "C-can I h-have t-that k-kiss n-now?" He asked innocently.

I tangled my fingers in his hair and pressed my lips to his. I moved my lips against his slowly, wanting the kiss to last as long as possible. But he pulled away much too soon and sat back down on his seat.

"Okay." I ran my hand through my hair and started the car. I checked the time, 7:33. We have just enough time to get there.

We drove out of the house and Frankie started to talk about why trees were were better than bushes. I was more than happy to hear him rant.

Twenty minutes later Frankie had stopped ranting and was now looking out the window with a curious look on his face.

"W-where a-are we g-going?" He asked.

"To the movies." I answered.

"B-but I d-don't see a-any b-buildings."

"We are going to a different theater this time." I answered.

He was silent and a few minutes later we arrived.

Frankie looked out of the window and went 'a-aw!'.

It was an old drive threw theater that only opened once a week, for one function at eight. It only played cheesy romantic films. Those really old black and white ones that I'm sure Frankie will like.

"R-really!? W-wow! S-so c-cute! T-thanks, Gee-rawrd!"

Frankie leaned over and pressed a soft kiss to my cheek.

"A-always w-wanted to s-see o-one of t-these!" He smiled widely.

Staying up all night looking for this place was totally worth it. Seeing Frankie so happy was worth anything.
