You're Never Gonna Fit In Much, Kid!
Detention.
The rest of the day went quicker than expected and before long Christine found herself walking up to the maths door ready for her hour detention that she had received earlier due to no fault of her own. Being new she would of gotten lost and she was meant to have a tour guide. The school didn't provide her with a tour guide and therefore Christine concluded that it wasn't her fault. If the maths teacher didn't agree with her view then she would have no problem taking it to the principals office. She was not scared of a little competition and making her opinion heard no matter what lengths she would have to go too.
Christine opened the maths door and walked in slowly giving herself enough time to look around and admire the other rebels that she would be joining on this fine afternoon. Trying her best to walk over to the teacher unnoticed didn't work out fully as she hoped, as she had manged to clip her side on the corner of the desk which resulted in her cursing in the middle of the silent room resulting in a lot of strange and disapproving looks from the other students and the teacher.
"Miss Edwards do you mind not making a scene when walking into detention, its not something that you should be proud of receiving." the teacher barked at her. "so hurry up and take your seat."
Christine hurried up and sat herself down right at the back of the room. She got her hoodie out of her bag and put it on quickly and made sure that her hood was covering her head. She wanted to take this chance to sleep as she knew that once she got home, hell would break lose. Placing her head onto the desk and trying to get into a comfy position, Christine's mind kept thinking back to the events of lunch. After she had cleaned up Sarah's wound, her and Sarah walked out of the bathroom and they joined the boys who were waiting outside Mikey's locker. They then all walked around the school corridors getting to know each other better, however Christine had a feeling that Sarah was being shy from her for a reason, and she couldn't put her finger on it. Once the bell had rang for them to get to lesson Christine told the group that she will see them tomorrow morning outside the gates at about 7.30. She then had two lessons of bullshit and has found herself sitting in a room full of idiots for an hour. "This is going to be a very long hour" Christine thought to herself. With that she got into a comfy position and fell asleep.
**** An hour later****
Christine awoke to the sound of the teacher bellowing at her but she didn't really care as she was free to go home. So she just got up walked past the teacher and out of the classroom. Once she had made her way to the school gates Christine decided to take the long route home due to it only being 4.30 and she wanted to waste as much time as possible in order to avoid the prick of the man at home. See it wasn't really much of a home more like a prison, her mum had mysteriously vanished and her step dad decided to care of her, yet he didn't care about her one bit.
Christine started walking the long route home and before long found herself back at the park she was at this morning. She decided to waste a bit more time and sat on the swing and light herself a cigarette. It wasn't that she defined herself as a rebel, it was just that what was waiting for her at home was unbearable and she didn't want to have to go through that so wasting as much time as possible she figured that he would get bored of waiting and go out to get drunk like he normally does.
She looked at her phone and saw that it was 5.30. By the time she gets home it would be about 6.00 so she would of hopefully missed him. It was now getting very dark and chilly due to it being winter so she knew that she had no choice but to start heading "home". She got off of the swing and headed out of the park, trying to avoid the way she went this morning as a different tactic to her time wasting. She reached the corner of her street and looked at her phone once more. It read 6.15. She had taken longer than expected and was grateful for that. He would be gone by now.
As she turned the corner her smile faded and her heart started pounding. His truck was still there. He was still there. She can't escape him this time. She has no way out. She swallowed hard and carried on walking to her house, down the driveway and stopped at her front door.
Her heart racing as she touched the door handle and her mind running to get away from the situation. She can't physically escape but mentally she could? She could numb herself down and she wouldn't feel a thing! But she would feel everything and no one would hear her.
No one would hear her and no one can save her.
