‼️ON PAUSE‼️ 'Cause The Hardest Part Of This Is Leaving You

You're okay!

*Gerard's POV*
I woke up to a cloud of never ending smoke and dust. I look around to see car parts and metal shrapnel. What the hell happened? A sharp pain and blinding white light. My hand reaches up to my head where I felt a trail of blood dripping down. When I try my sit up, I put pressure on my wrist.
"Ahh, shit.."
The pain was excruciating. It must be broken. I turn my head to the side and see an image of something I never want to see ever again.
"Lindsey... Lindsey! Can you hear me, Lindsey?!"
My wife, slumped over in her seat, leaning against the car door. Blood falling from her forehead and nose. I hoped she was unconscious and not dead. Then it hit me. I remember how this all happened.
"You're just trouble, that's all you ever have been and that all you ever-
Gerard the car!"

We had gotten into an arguement and I wasn't paying attention to the road. I saw neither the red light nor the car speeding towards us.

I paniced, looking around for my phone. I stretched my arms out and searched the dashboard. Got it. I quickly dialed 911.
"911 operator, how my I be of your service?"
"Hi, my names Gerard Way and I just got into a car accident."
"Alright, and what is your location?"
"Were on the intersection of Main and Westbrook."
"Is there anyone else in the car with you?"
"Just my wife, Lindsey."
"Do you know the condition of the other vehicle?"
"No."
"Alright, hang tight and the ambulance will be there in a few minutes."
"Thank you."

Just as the conversation ended, Lindsey woke up.
"Ge-Gerard?.."
"Oh my God Lindsey, you're okay!"
I unbuckled my seatbelt, leaned over to her and kissed her on the forehead. She looked around.
"We crashed didn't we?..." She eyes started to well up with tears. Tears of fear.
"Yeah.. We did.. I just wanna say-"
Before I finished my sentence she slowly pulled me in to a kiss.
"Don't say anything, I'm just happy you're alive."
A huge smile lit up on my face. I kissed her back.
"I'm so happy you're alive too."
I looked out the cracked windshield and noticed the other car.
"I'll be right back, I'm going to go check the other car to see if their okay."
I tried to open the door but it wouldn't budge. So I thought for a moment and then I just kicked the door. I kept kicking and after a few tries it just fell off. I climbed out of the car and turned around.
"My car..."
Such a beautiful car, ruined. I looked around and spotted the other vehicle. I ran towards it's calling out to anyone who was in there.
"Hello? Can you hear me? Are you near me?"
When I approached it I looked in the window. I heard a faint crying. As I looked to the back, I laid my eyes upon a small child. It cried;
"Mommy.. Mommy.."

I felt horrible, I felt like a monster. Me, my selfishness, and I. The mother wasn't moving and I felt I just ruined a life. Just then I heard the ambulance blaring is sirens. Thank God, just in time. I waved my arms in the air so that they would notice me. When they came to a screeching halt, four paramedics climbed out, pulling a gurnie behind them.
"Don't worry sir, we will take care of her."

I stepped back. I can't believe myself. I ran back to my smashed up vehicle to get Lindsey. She was sitting there, still breathing. I opened the door with much force and threw her arm over my shoulder.
"Come on baby, the paramedics are here to help you and the others."
I pulled her out of the car. On the outside it looked like nothing was broken. We walked towards what was one but now two ambulances. Two female paramedics came and took Lindsey.
"She will be in good hands. Is there anything you need?"
"No I'll be alright."
"If you'd like, you may come and sit in the ambulance with her."
"That would be great."

As I followed them to the truck I saw some firefighters and officers pulling the woman out of her car, followed by the crying toddler. My heart stung. I pictured the faces of my lovely wife and daughter on them.
"How could you...?"
They yelled it at me. I rubbed my eyes and shook my head. When I looked back, the faces were normal. What the hell?

*In the hospital*

"Alright ma'am, your good to go, do you have someone to take you home?"
"Yes, my husband will call a taxi."
The nurse walked away with Lindsey's discharge slips. Finally were going home, we've been here all night. I leaned forward in my chair and rested my head on my hands.
"Gee honey, what's wrong?"
The faces. The mom and the little girl, whispering. What were they trying to tell me?
"Gee, can't you hear me?"
"Huh? Oh sorry. I'm tired, it's been a long day." I stood up and wrapped my arms around Lindsey.
"Oh, well you could have just told me you wanted a hug."
"Shah, don't say anything. Just stay right here."
I held her tighter and tighter. I could have lost her. I could have lost everything that mattered to me; my life. As I helped her out of bed, the nurse called our names.
"Mr and Mrs Way? Your taxi is here."

As we walked towards the exit, I thanked the nurses. We need people like that in our lives, I just realized that. The taxi driver opened the door for us and we climbed in. I pulled my phone out and dialed the home phone number.
"Mikey, oh thank God Mikey.."
"Gerard, what the hell? You guys have been gone all night, what happened?"
"It's a long ass story, it's best we explain it to you and Bandit."
When we got to the house, Mikey was at the door to greet us.
"You party animals, Bandit has been worried sick....er..."
I hugged my baby brother so tightly.
"Michael, I just want you to know how much I love you."
"I love ya too Gee... Get off me..."
I let go and then realized I have to go see my baby girl. I ran up the stairs and through her door.
"Daddy!"
She said, leaping off her bed and bolting towards me. She wrapped me in a hug.
"Oh Bandit, baby girl, I missed you so much, I'm so sorry."
"For what?" She had a puzzled look on her face, not surprised.
"We will explain everything downstairs, Kay?"
I led her down the stairs to where Mikey and Lindsey were sitting on the couch. Ya know, I never realized what I had till it was almost gone. I took advantage of everything, and now I know not too. I'm going to be so much more thankful. God, what an eye opener.

Notes

Hey guys! So guess what? My city got 7-8 more inches of fucking snow... Yeah, I'm pissed. The internet has been good to me and so that's why an update was here in a week, aren't ya proud of me? I don't like this chapter for some reason. It kind of shows Gerard's "inner demon". Idk, he just feel really guilty about the whole accident, he probably won't live this down for awhile. I think in the next chapter or two Bandit will start school. We'll get to see how the kids at school react to her news.

Till next time,
Me :)
