Vampires Will Never Hurt You

How's Your New Boy, Does He Know About Me?

*Ray’s POV*
“Come on!” I can’t do this; she’s my best friend, the girl I’ve loved since I was 15. Vampire or not, I loved Lexi and I wasn’t going to let Bob end her. It’s not like she’s been murdering people. Okay well that hasn’t exactly been proved, but I know her well enough to know that she wouldn’t hurt anyone.
I shake my head, no, and Bob sighs. I see the look in Lexi’s eyes go from terrified to determine as she raises her hands and push against Bob’s chest. To my, actually all of our surprises, he actually flies away from her, as if he had been by a truck.
“Holy shit!” I cry. That was amazing and terrifying at the same. I knew vamps had some kind of super strength thing but, fuck, anyone who could throw Bob a clear 30 feet away and hit a tree with a sound that scared me, could probably lift a damn elephant.
Lexi seemed to be just as surprised as me. She may not know it, but she’s still in danger. Bob’s gotten up from shit like this before, no problem. She might not get an opportunity to do something like that again. “Lexi” I call, slowly making my way over to Bob “You need to get out of here, now.” She nods and runs off, back into the trees.
I kneel down next to Bob and shake his shoulder. He groans in pain and opens his eyes. “Fuck” he mumbles, starting to sit up, holding a hand against the back of his head
“MIKEY” We hear a scream come from the direction Lexi went in. Bob looks in the direction of her voice. “She got away” I nod. Bob groans again and starts to stand up. I grab his arm and help haul him up. “Why didn’t you stop her?” he asks his voice suddenly becoming stern and angry. I was at a loss for words.
Bob never gets mad at me, not even that one time I threw a stake at him during training. Bob groaned yet again, this time in frustration. “This is all your fault” he mumbles. “Um excuse me, you’re the one who got yourself thrown across the fucking clearing.” he looks at me bewildered. “No, it’s your fault, Toro! If you had just given me the stake-”
Oh yes bob, like I was really going to let you murder my best friend. “She was my friend Bob I wasn’t just going to let you kill her” Bob rolls his eyes. “Was Ray, was.” I open my mouth to reply, only to be cut of my someone on the end of the clearing.
Bob and I turn toward them. There stands a tall skinny teenager with glasses and blood red eyes, a vampire. Behind him was Lexi, tightly gripping the boy’s hand. “Oh hey Mikey…” Bob hesitates upon seeing her with Mikey Way, one of the members of the vampire clan we’re not allowed to harm. A very quiet growl comes from Bob. I’m pretty sure I was the only person who heard it though.
Anyway the dude, Mikey smirks. “Yeah hey, Bob, this is my girlfriend Lexi, I’d appreciate it if you and the rest of the hunters didn’t kill her.”
Girlfriend? Excuse me, I’m sorry what? Bob’s fist clench. “Oh” he mumbles “Sorry”
All of us hunters knew how Bob felt about vamps. He thought they were all vermin, leeches, and blood thirsty monsters (I‘d assume that, that was the right mentality for a hunter but we‘re a weird group). While Hayley and Jeremy were fine with Andy, Joe, and Patrick not wanting to kill the Way’s, but Bob highly disagreed. Basically he hated the species.
Lexi pulls on Mikey’s arm and he look down at her. She whispers something I can’t hear. Mikey stares at her, then looks back at us, then back to Lexi and nods. She mouths the words thank you and slowly, cautiously, walks over to us. Upon reaching us, she eyes Bob suspiciously. I can literally feel the tension rising before she shakes her head and I feel her small fingers wrap around my wrist and she pulls me into the forest.
Once Lexi thought the others were out of earshot she stopped, letting go of my wrist, and turn back toward me. “What the fuck?” she asks immediately. I knot my eyebrows in confusion. Lexi sighs. “The hunters dumbass, why are you with them?” “Oh, um…” I feel my cheeks heating up and I know I’m blushing. Lexi smirks and motions for me to continue. I look down at my feet, which had now begun to feel cold and damp from the snow.
“Um… I was kind of looking for you…” I mumble. “Looking for me?” She asks. I nod. “Why?” “I couldn’t let you go,” I answer “You’re my best friend Lexi, and I” love you. I wanted to say the words so bad. Let her know of the secret I’ve been hiding from her for the past three years. “And you what?”
But I can’t. She’ll think I’m stupid. Plus she’s already got a boyfriend, one that could kill me in a second if he wanted.
“Nothing” I mumble. Lexi raises her eyebrow at me and I shake my head. “Just drop it” After a moment of hesitation she nods her head.
Then to my surprise, she steps and grabs me in a hug. “I missed you” she whispers. I wrap my arms around her thin waist and pull her a little closer. “I missed you too” I tell her. We stay in our embrace for several seconds before Lexi pulls away looking back toward the direction of the clearing.
“We need to get back now” she says, her tone extremely serious. “Why?” I ask already turning back toward the clearing. “Bob and Mikey are about two seconds from attacking each other.”
