I Have Loved You For A Thousand Years

Cemetery Drive

Savannah couldn't stay for the party at the house that night. She dropped me off after her husband had called her and left a voice mail saying they had to meet some magazines for a charity gala that evening. We sat in her car in front of the house. Without a word, she unbuckled her seat belt and turned off the engine with a sigh. I watched her every movement. I didn't want to miss out on a single thing she did. After all these years, she still took my breath away.

She looked over and smiled at me half-heartedly. "What?" she giggled. I felt myself grin and I shook my head.

"I'm just trying to figure out why he can't see what a beautiful woman you are," I said honestly. She blushed and leaned over the console of the car and kissed me softly. I kissed her again and she kissed me back. "I don't know why I ever let you go," I whispered. She sat back down in her seat.

"We will make up for all the lost time," she promised as she grabbed my hand and kissed my knuckle. I unbuckled my seat belt and kissed her this time, putting my hand on the back of her neck. She kissed me again and I opened my door.

"Don't let him touch you, Savannah, or I swear I will find him," I said to her quietly. She nodded. "I love you..." I said as I got out. All she did was smile, start the car and drive off. I sighed and turned around to see Mikey standing in the front door, arms crossed.

"You are a fucking moron," he said smartly.
I shook my head and pushed past him into the house. Everything was set up for tonight and Frank had already started on a bowl of Cheetos while sitting on the couch and playing Call of Duty. I sat next to him and ate a Cheeto. Mikey walked over and stood next to me in the doorway. "This isn't going to end well," he warned.

"Mikey, he hits her okay?" I blurted. I really didn't want to tell them yet, but I felt like it was the only way I could get them to see my side of things. Mikey's expression dropped like a block of lead and he looked like he was going to cry. Frank paused the game.

"WHAT?" He half-shouted. "That prick hits her?" He asked. I nodded solemnly. "I'm gonna--"

"You're not gonna do shit," I interrupted.

"I'm--" Mikey started.

"No," I cut him off. "You guys, there's nothing we can do yet," I continued. I sighed. "He said he would kill her. He's a powerful man. We all need to think about how we can get her out of this situation. I mean, he probably has guys watching the house right now," I said. Mikey pushed his hair back and sighed and Frank put his face in his palm, exhaling heavily.

"Why did you let her leave?" Mikey asked.

"I had to," I answered. "She had a charity thing. I have a feeling she will be back," I predicted. They nodded. "Now let's party," I said. "I need some booze," They laughed in agreement and we drank a couple beers and waited for our friends to arrive. Ray came first with his girlfriend and then Bob with a couple of our closest male friends. There were two or three females there, but they were in relationships. Not that it mattered to me. I hadn't even had sex, let alone kissed anybody for the past three years. Savannah was my one and only.

A few hours passed and I had a few beers before I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket. It was from Savannah. 'I can't wait to see you tonight... xo.' It said. I smiled and didn't reply. I sat my phone on the counter and engaged in a game of beer pong with Ray and some of the other party goers. it was fun and I was starting to feel pretty intoxicated.

A few hours passed and before I knew it, it was midnight. I looked down at my phone; nothing from Savannah.

"Have you heard from her?" MIkey asked from behind me. I shook my head and turned around. "I hope she's okay," he said morosely.

"She will be here soon," I assured as I went and sat on the couch. Frank, Bob and another one of our friends were playing a deathmatch on the xbox, talking shit on the headsets to the cocky teenagers. I watched them for a good ten minutes before a loud knock came to the door. Mikey went to answer it and as he pulled the door open, Savannah promptly fell to the floor with a loud thud.

I jumped up and ran across the room to help Mikey pick her up. She was giggling, obviously intoxicated.

"I got her," I dismissed Mikey and carried Savannah to my bedroom.
She started doing this crying/laughing thing and I noticed marks on her neck. She was wearing a beautiful black dress that came down to a "v" down her stomach, revealing her perfect breasts and a slit all the way up the long skirt revealing her long, perfectly-shaped legs. She had on a beautiful diamond necklace I noticed as I lay her down on my bed. Her legs hung off the side of the bed and she laughed as I moved them to put them on the bed. The slit in her dress revealed a lot more of her as I moved them. Needless to say, I saw she wasn't wearing any underwear. She saw me blushing and fixing her skirt and giggled flirtatiously.

"It's not like you've never seen it before," she said sexily. She sat up on her elbows. "I showed your mine, now show me yours," she said as she tugged at my belt. I took her hands off of me and laid her back down. She frowned.

"You're drunk, babe," I explained, kissing her forehead. She reached out and began to stroke me through my jeans.

"Come on, for old time's sake..." she pleaded. I stood there for a second, taking in how good it felt as she rubbed the denim against my quickly hardening penis. I leaned my head back and let out a soft moan. Hearing myself, I snapped into it and stepped back.

"No, Sav," I said sternly. Even though it felt so good, I could have come in a few more strokes.
I didn't want it to be like that. She sat up on the edge of the bed and started to cry. She put her elbows on her knees and her face in her hands as she cried softly. I knelt down on the floor in front of her, resting my hands on her knees. "What's wrong, baby?" I whispered.

She let out a small laugh, "Remember when we used to go into that old cemetery and drink by that mausoleum?" she asked. She looked down at me and I could see those marks on her neck. He must have choked her.

"Yeah, baby, I remember," I said, recalling the memories. I ran my fingers across her bruises on her neck and she winced in pain. She ran her fingers through my hair. I felt so awful for letting her leave but I knew I had to wait until the right time to say something to the police. She laughed again.

"Can we go there? I miss it..." she said. I smiled and so did she. She pulled on my shirt. "Please?" she begged. I stood up and pulled her with me.

"Of course," I said.

We walked out of the room together and to the kitchen where Mikey stood with Frank. Everyone else was in the living room laughing and listening to loud music. They both approached us and I stood her up against the counter while I got in the fridge and got the fifth of Crown Royal I had in the door to take with us.

"Where are you guys going?" Mikey asked. He smiled. I was really glad I told him and he understood. Frank glanced at her and then me, and I knew they had saw the marks on her throat.

"Cemetery Drive," I answered. They both smiled. "Remember?" I asked. They both nodded.

"Are you good to drive?" Savannah asked. "Cause I know I'm not!" she laughed and we all laughed with her. I put my arm around her and we headed towards the door.

"Be careful!" Mikey shouted after us, approving. I looked back, smiled, and we walked out the door together.

It was about a ten minute walk from the house to the Cemetery. We approached the gates and they were just the way I had remembered them; hanging on by one hinge, about to fall off. Savannah was giggling as I handed her the bottle of Crown Royal and so I could hold the door to where she could crawl between. She took two swigs of the crown and coughed before getting in between the gates. When she was on the other side, I went in after her. She took another drink and handed me the liquor before taking off full speed towards the mausoleum we always sat down in front of. I took two swigs and took off after her. It felt just like old times.

I met her in front of the mausoleum where she was sitting, waiting for me on the marble. I sat down next to her and we both talked and reminisced while drinking the liquor until it was all gone. We were laughing so loudly, it was a wonder we hadn't gotten in trouble. She scooted over towards me and laid her head on my chest, exhaling deeply.

"I don't even know why I married him," she said quietly, out of the blue. I stroked her hair, raking it back out of her face. "I was so sad after we broke up and graduated... I just couldn't face the reality of being alone; being without you..." she looked up at me and smiled. "I never stopped loving you," she admitted, her big, beautiful eyes cutting a hole in me.

"I never stopped loving you either," I admitted as I kissed her softly. She sat up and looked down at her dress.

She laughed, "My husband fucking hates this dress," she said.
We both busted out laughing in unison. Somewhere, in the middle of laughing, we began kissing. Soft, spaced kisses at first gradually got to heavier, harder kisses. She laid me down softly and got on top of me and started kissing me more, sliding her tongue against mine as I did the same. Things got heated and I rolled over on top of her, running my hand into the slit of her skirt and up between her bare legs until I could feel the heat from inside of her. She moaned softly as I kissed her neck and brushed my index finger gently across her clitoris. She wrapped one of her legs around me.

We both snapped out of it when we heard crunching gravel underneath tires of a vehicle and saw a light on the headstones. We both got on our feet in seconds but it was too late before we heard over a speaker, "Don't move!!"

It was the police. I grabbed Savannah's hand in mine and we stood where we were and let the cops run up to us. They shoved me down on the ground and pinned my hands behind my back.

"He didn't do anything!" she screamed at them.

"Save it," one of the officers said. "what are those bruises on your neck?" they asked. The officer who had me pulled me up onto my feet.

"He didn't--" She started.

"We are gonna have to take you in for questioning," the officer that had me said. I knew I couldn't tell them about what was really happening with Savannah, so I kept my mouth shut until I knew I would be questioned and recorded.

"NO!" Savannah screamed at the top of her lungs. She lunged to hug me, but another officer held her back.

"Miss, calm down," he warned.

"Savannah, I'm okay, I will see you tomorrow!" I yelled as they led me to the squad car. I could hear her screaming and crying. "Don't go home to him! Go see Mikey and Frank!" I yelled.

"I love you, Gee!" She screamed across the cemetery.

That was the last thing I heard her say before they pushed me in the squad car and drove me back into town. I watched her out of the back window as we drove away and she was standing there in that black dress, waving good-bye at me.
