What's going on?
Chapter 10
Triple’s POV
“Today?” Radio asked, tying her long hair up into a high ponytail.
“Today. I’m leaving in half an hour, with or without you guys.”
“Okay.” She stood up and went down to the weapons room. I grabbed a small bag and put bottles of water inside, along with a few grenades and some other things. I put my gun in its holster and strapped my crossbow to my back. I went over to the kitchen, where the guys were, and told them to go get ready if they were coming with me. They all went towards the bedrooms, so I assumed they were. I flipped through my notebook and re-familiarised myself with my plan.
“Right. Um, I can’t do this whole leader thing, but let’s fucking GO!” I said, and we all went out to the car. We somehow managed to get into the middle of Battery City without getting noticed.
Apart from some dracs.
But we shot them and dragged them into the bushes, so they don’t count, right?
Anyway, when we reached the Scarecrow Unit we all got out. I put a finger to my lips and handed my notebook to Radio. “All of you read it,” I mouthed. “And give me one of your knives. By the way, if this doesn’t work and any of you die, I’m so sorry. You’re all amazing people, and even better killjoys.” She handed one to me and I hurried over to a drac patrolling outside the unit. I got up behind him and grabbed him in a headlock, with the knife at his throat. “Okay, you fucking listen to me. I’m here to bring this place down, and if you don’t tell me where Korse is right this second I’ll rip your throat out. Now where the fuck is he?”
“I-I don’t know!”
“Bullshit. I’m not fucking around, so get talking!”
“He’s in the base, top floor.”
“Thanks,” I said, removing the knife and letting him go. “But I don’t trust dracs.” I threw the knife and it stuck in his back. He fell down and I took it out, wiping it on his pure white uniform. A bit messier than I would like it to be, but this isn’t the time to try and change that. I kicked the Unit’s door open and ran up the stairs, kicking a drac down as I passed. I pushed open a door of what looked like an office, my crossbow raised. Empty. I went up to the top of the building and started to work my way down. The base was empty.
I spent at least half an hour looking for Korse in the unit before I eventually saw him. He was in an office, talking to someone. I kicked the door open, ready with my crossbow, and fired at his head. I hit his shoulder. “You bitch!” Korse yelled.
“Well, father dearest, didn’t I tell you? I said I’d come for you, you could have started running. But you didn’t. Not my fault. So tonight, you’re going to die.” I opened the window and whistled loudly. It echoed across the land. A few seconds later, I heard a ladder hit the building. Radio climbed inside and Korse grabbed her. He zip-tied her hands together and she kicked him… where it hurts. He doubled over and I hit him with my gun. He fell to the ground unconscious and I grabbed Radio’s hands. I explained to her how to break them and while she did that I turned to the woman.
“What’s your name?”
“Victoria Quinn.”
I went over to the computer and typed in her name. ‘Victoria Quinn. Hostage and Korse’s personal assistant. Captured 27/5/2018.’
“If you tell me where I can put a bomb in this place to bring it to the ground, I’ll let you go.”
“Why?”
“Do you want to survive or not?”
“Will everything go back to normal?”
“Yeah, it’ll all be the way it was.”
“Let me see the computer.”
“Right there?”
“Yup. It’s where all the fuel for the cars is, so…”
“Boom.”
“Exactly.”
“The only thing I want you to do is release all the other captives, then get the fuck out of here.”
“Okay.”
“If you try anything, I’ll kill you.”
“I won’t.”
“Good. Now go.” Victoria ran off and I turned to Korse. “You know you’re going to die. Any famous last words?” I raised my crossbow.
“I love you more than you know.”
“What?”
“Don’t do this, Gracie. Put the bow down. You can rule Battery City and the Zones, with me. When I die, you’ll reign alone.”
“She’s already queen of the Zones, she doesn’t need anyone’s help with that.” Party said, jumping in from the window.
“You took your time!”
“Dracs outside. And an exterminator.”
“Fucking hell. You guys okay?”
“Yeah, we’re good. Ghoul got shot in the leg, but he’ll live.”
“Great. Now what the fuck were you saying to me?” I said, turning to Korse.
“I could tell you how to get Battery City. These people, they could worship you!”
“Thanks for that,” I said. “But I don’t trust BL/ind.” I aimed my crossbow and fired.
A knife killed my father, Radio being the thrower. “Why?” I asked.
“You’d never forgive yourself.”
I slammed the window shut and walked out of the room. It took a while, but we eventually found the room Victoria had described. It looked out onto the desert, with one wall being made completely of glass.
But she hadn’t mentioned all the Exterminators were in the room too. There were 12, or at least that was what I counted. I was absolutely terrified, and when I was scared my concentration wasn’t very good.
If we didn’t get rid of the Exterminators, they would get rid of us. Not to mention the bomb.
I had 6 grenades. 2 for me, 2 for Radio, 2 for Party. “Give it your best shot, then we’ll set the bomb and get the fuck out of here.”
I managed to hit one with my first shot, but when the Exterminator exploded, part of it hit another and somehow took it out. My second grenade took out 3 that were standing pretty much shoulder-to-shoulder.
“Okay, Radio, you know how to do this bomb. Go.”
“What’s the magic word?”
“Now before I kill you.”
“All right, all right. Jeeze.”
I heard a click and then the bomb started ticking. “10 minutes, then it’ll go. We need to get out of here.”
“Let’s go. Have any of you got a grenade left?” Gerard handed me and I took out the pin, hurling it towards the window. We walked out through the gap and walked round to the car. We got in and drove a mile out, then got out again to see the blast.
It was spectacular. We all high fived and drove out of Battery City, and back to base. Then we all collapsed in our beds, too tired to even say goodnight to each other.

Radio Demon’s POV
BL/ind is still here, but their pills, dracs, droids and pure white stuff aren’t. BL/ind is now a mental health charity, and they’re helping the human race get back on track. The head of it all is Victoria Quinn. She made sure the company changed. A normal government is back in power, and the Fabulous Killjoys (and everyone else) have laid down their ray guns.
Me? I work in the police now. I help the special agents solve crimes and make sure BL/ind don’t go back to the way they were. The fires of 2012 and the events that followed were the worst years of my life, as with most people. We don’t want it to happen again. But if it does, I’ll be the first to try and stop it, with Party Poison, Jet Star, Fun Ghoul, Kobra Kid and Triple Defy/Secret Saviour/Demolition Girl by my side. THE END
