Chapter 2
Gerard P.O.V
Day one at my new school was finally over. It wasn’t a particularly bad day; it was just long and boring, although I had managed to make a new friend.
As I drove home, I thought about the short interaction Emma and I had had that morning. Her personality was friendly and inviting. She could have just sat there in her seat and ignored me, but instead she turned and spoke to me as if it was the most normal thing in the world to talk to the strange, new kid.
I found myself very intrigued by her. We had not talked for long, or even about anything important or interesting, but there was something about her that made me want to know her better.
And her eyes...I had noticed them right away when she looked into my face and introduced herself. They were a crystal clear, icy green. Within them there was a passion and a drive that I had not seen in many others. They were piercing, yet kind.
Needless to say, I was immediately attracted to her.
And it wasn’t just her eyes that attracted me. Her build was slight, but somehow curvy at the same time, and she had this gorgeous, short blonde hair that she held back from her face with a headband. Her clear, pale skin was a perfect compliment to her light eyes.
I made it my goal to become friends with her.
It had been a month since I transferred schools. I was doing fairly well in all of my classes, especially English, which I had with Emma.
I would get to school early every morning and sit in the same seat in the back, right hand corner so she could sit next to me and we could talk.
We had become fast friends. We both liked the same kinds of music (she even introduced me to some new bands) and movies. We had similar tastes in literature and fashion.
Actually, I was quite interested in her style. She liked to switch it up often. One day she would come in wearing a pink Hollister shirt and blue jeans; and a black corset, skirt, and heavy eyeliner the next.
I really liked how diverse her interests were. It made her all the more appealing to me.
It was after the final bell on Thursday and I was walking towards my car when I saw Emma at the other end of the parking lot.
“Hey, Emma!” I called, strolling towards her.
I seemed to have startled her because she whipped around quickly, an adorable look of surprise on her face.
“Oh! Hey, what’s up?” she said, casually.
“Not much. I was just about to head home, but I actually had something to ask you.” I said, starting to get nervous. This was it; I was going to ask her if she wanted to get together outside of school sometime. The possibility of her saying no weighed heavily on my mind.
At that moment, right as I opened my mouth to ask her, some ass hole walked past and bumped into her roughly, causing her to stumble to the side. I put my hand on her shoulder to steady her and she looked up into my eyes.
“T-thanks. People around here can be so rude.” She said flippantly, looking away quickly.
“Yeah, what a jerk. Uh, anyway…” I fumbled, trying to get my thoughts back together. “I was wondering if you maybe wanted to get dinner with me sometime? I like talking to you in first period, and I would really like to hang out with you more.” I said, hoping that it came out of my mouth slower, and more intelligibly than I’m sure it did.
“Really?” she said, surprised.
I found it weird that she seemed shocked that I would want to ask her out. With how amazing a person she is, I would have thought she got asked out all the time.
“Well, yeah.” I said, mentally crossing my fingers and hoping I heard what I wanted to hear.
“Sure. I would love to get dinner sometime.” She said with a smile after a moments pause.
“Is Saturday alright?” I asked.
“Yeah! Saturday is perfect. Pick me up around 6?”
“I’ll be there.” I said, carefully reigning in my excitement.
“Sounds like a plan. Well, I better get going. See you tomorrow!” Emma said with an enthusiastic wave.
Is it possible that she’s excited about our date too?
“Bye!” I called.
We headed our separate ways. As I got into my car, she came speeding past me, music blaring from her open windows and I watched her go, looking forward to Saturday night.
