Killjoys of Battery City
Anya and Domnic part two
(A few days after I would have turned 19 or 20)
I looked around at the small gathering of people at my daughter and nephews birthday.
Domnic was dashing in his suit and his blonde hair was barely tamed around his face and in shaggy bangs in his eyes. Anya was nothing short of royalty in her black and red dress with her black curls pulled back in a black ribbon with tule spouting from the center of the ribbon.
Anya was talking to her grand dad, Jet Star. Probably she was enthusing about her new doll, the one I made for her.
Gerard snuck up behind me and put his arm around my shoulder. "Crazy, isnt it. I thought you looked a little like him when I first saw you. But your hair is to damn straight to bear resemblence to his." Gerard giggled a little bit.
I kept my eyes on the little doll my daughter held in her arms, she was still very small. "Yeah. I wonder how hard her really took it when he found out? I mean like that I am the only one of three kids left. I wonder how hard it hit hm when he figured out that he watched his son die."
"Harder than he let on." Was all Gerard said.
I looked at the gathering of people again and I saw my family, alive and dead. I also saw Victoria's dead family too.
This was my family and no one could take that away from me. After all the shit I had been through, I was home to stay. Forever.
