Can't Trust a Girl in Blue

Chapter 13 - They don't call it the south for nothing

Autumn wakes to the noise of her door opening. It’s wake time but she was asleep anyway, since there isn’t anything better to do. She listens for the footsteps she never hears and watches as her caretaker approaches. She stands up, holding out her hands, knowing the lunch routine well. He handcuffs her loosely and she walks out the door, knowing where to go. She walks in front of him, admiring his trust in her. She stops close to the door so he can open it for her. She goes through the doorway and walks towards the back table filled with all the blue shirts, looking back at the white shirts across the room from them. A small smirk forms as they look back in fear. The blue shirts had showed their dominance after the meeting of the sick the previous week.

“Today we do the plan,” says the meanest of the blue shirts, “And today is the only chance we will have to do this. Remember Autumn, you’re the distraction.” Autumn nods, knowing what she must do, and heads towards the small table in the center of the room with the trays of small portions. She grabs another tray and dumps some extra food on hers. Handing the half empty tray to a short white shirt that walked up. She looks at Autumn filled with fear, Autumn could see her shaking. Another white shirt walks up and pushed the tray out of Autumns hands. This wasn’t part of the plan! She pushes down the much taller white shirt to the floor. She sees some blue shirts coming up from behind her. “Fight!” yells the small shite shirt girl that then runs away to one of the twins.

Then sees something very amazing happen. One of the twins leave, they slip right out through the door almost unnoticed. She sprints towards where the boy slid through, and slides out the door as well. No one saw. She waits for the twin to turn the corner. She catches a glimpse of his face as he turns and sees it’s her caretaker. She goes down another hallway searching for her way out, praying she won’t run into her caretaker. She turns down a hallway that seemed wider than the rest. It had a much taller ceiling than the other hallways and this hallway had no doors in it. She sees a door with plants growing over it. She sprints and kicks at the door. Breaking the glass, she climbs out and breathes in the fresh air. That was too easy.

She runs for the trees, finding a much hidden path to follow. Sprinting with no shoes on and hands still cuffed, she then finds herself standing on a sidewalk, crowds of people all around her. She looks around in awe. No knowledge of where she was but she was glad to see happy and healthy faces. Walks to a sign saying “Police” and goes into the building. She walks to the desk and rings the bell on the table with her cuffed hands. A man in a black coat walks out and looks up at her bewildered, “Are you okay?”

Notes

I never told of a plan because I felt it was useless to show a bunch of girls blahing about a plan. I felt this also helped speed things but and not bore you to death. But now she's free xP
