Forget About the Dirty Looks

Gerard’s POV

I never imagined I’d see her here. Of all times, why now?

“Um, watching you guys practice apparently.” She told me. “That’s what girlfriends do after all.” Frank added. “Wait what?”

Frank threw his arm around her casually. That action surprised me so much that I choked on air. I actually choked on air. Really, I can’t breathe. I started coughing wickedly until all I seen was black.


Tashi’s POV

“Frank you killed him.” I stated calmly. “I did not kill him, he’s just passed out.” he retorted. “Well shit guys what do we do?” Bob asked. “Let’s take him to the hospital, they’ll know what to do.” Mikey suggested.

Ray carried him into the back of Frank’s car. Frank and I got in and drove to the hospital. “Dude he’s not waking up.” Frank pointed out. “I noticed! Goddammit this is my fault isn’t it?” I replied. He shook his head. “No that’s not it, maybe he freaked out at our relationship?” Frank asked. “Why would he care? Isn’t he with Linsey?” I questioned. “They’re having ups and downs.” he told me.


Gerard's POV

I started to hear the voices of people around me. I quickly opened my eyes. Bad idea. I shut them and opened them rapidly, trying to get used to the horrendous bright white light. At first I thought it might be heaven, but I'm still feeling not so wonderful, and have no urge to float toward it.

I sat up in bed which seemed to have caused a commotion. The doctor ran up to me and asked how I was feeling. That's when it struck me. I was in a hospital, and I just woke up from a coma. It felt like only hours past, but it could've been weeks, months. I looked to my side and found Tashi, asleep in a chair. She stayed with me this whole time.

I smiled to myself, and turned back to the doctor. "Yeah, I'm feeling alright, but how long was I out?" I asked. He sent me a sympathetic smile and I assumed the worst. "About 2 hours." he replied then chuckled a bit. Oh.

I looked at the clock. 6:27pm. “Hey Gerard, how you feeling?” I heard a voice beside me. Then a yawn. I turned to look at her. “Yeah I’m fine, but it’s only 6:30, why are you sleeping?” I asked. She let out what was a mix of a sigh and a laugh. “Because I didn’t last night.”

A few moments of silence past and it suddenly got awkward. “So umm…. how have things been?” Tashi asked, probably as an ice breaker. “Good. Good. Uh, the bands going great, I’ve been experimenting with comics. All is well. How have things been with you?”

She waiting a few seconds before answering. “Well I didn’t have the money for college and my mother wanted me out, so now I’m a prostitute and living off pity because I got kicked out of my apartment a few weeks back soo…..” Oh.

I cleared my throat. “You can stay at my place whenever you want.” I put out there. She smiled at me. “Thanks for the offer GeeBear, but I’m staying with Frank.” she said. “Frank’s place doesn’t have a working bathroom, and you probably sleep on the couch because he has a twin bed, and um, no coffee, and I know how much you love coffee.” I pointed out, “besides, Frank basically lives at my place anyway, and I have an extra bedroom.”

“That’s really nice of you Gerard. But if we’re housemates I’ll have to chip in money. Frank won’t allow me to sell myself anymore, and you live close to a corner store, I can get a job there! An actual normal life. Thanks, wow you’re the best.” she got up and gave me a hug.
Living with Tashi? Will I be able to handle myself? Hah, no way, but who cares, right?
