All The Good Girls Go To Heaven
Reflexes Cause Awkward Situations
“So. Umm... wow. Yeah, how are we going to do this? I-I mean, who sleeps on the outside, and who sleeps next to the wall?” Mikey stuttered. Wow, he’s even more awkward than I remember. In his defense, I was getting changed right in front of him, but I made sure to keep all of the important parts covered. I even had my back to him.
“Oh, I’ll take either side. I’m easy.” I replied, smiling. His cheeks turned a bright pink color as blood rushed into them. He was blushing. “Not in that way, genius.” I swear. Boys sometimes. I finished getting dressed and turned around. He was standing there, stiff as a board, staring in my direction.
“O-Okay. I’ll take the space next to the wall.” He said, going to lay down on the small bed. He still had those stupid Star Wars bedsheets.
“Okay, goodnight.” I said, turning off the lights and laying down next to him. Ray wasn’t kidding when he said we would be squished. “Oh, and by the way, I’m the one you saved ten years ago. I was Jillian. Now I’m not. Thanks.” I turned on my side, facing away from him. I could feel his eyes burning into the back of my head. “Just don’t tell anyone else yet. I’ll do it when I feel it’s right.” Never. I felt him nod and I closed my eyes. His hand snaked around my waist.
“S-Sorry. It was a reflex.” He said nervously.
“It’s fine, Mikey. You can keep it there if you want to. I don’t really mind.” I felt his arm on me again. I find his awkwardness... adorable.
I woke up to the smell of coffee. There was also the smell of Mikey’s shirt. Somehow during the night, we had managed to get into the most awkward position known to mankind. My head was buried in his chest, and I could feel his breath on my head. One of my legs was in between his. His arms were wrapped around me.
“Aww, come on you two lovebirds. Breakfast is ready! Hope you like coffee and Frankenberry.” I heard Frank say from the doorway. He’s gotten better at acting ‘normal’ during the day. His voice, which could be quite loud if he wanted it to be, woke Mikey up. He looked down to find me and immediately overreacted.
“Oh, I’m so sorry! I didn’t know what-- I didn’t mean to--” He stuttered.
“Stop apologizing. It’s fine! As long as it doesn’t disturb you, I’m fine with it.” I interrupted him. He nodded, his cheeks still red from the blush that never left. I quickly got dressed, in the bathroom this time, and ran down for some coffee. Knowing Gerard, it would be gone in a few minutes. Everyone else was already there and, as I suspected, there wasn’t any coffee left.
“I say we all go out for drinks tonight, to celebrate Bob and Skylar moving in!” Ray suggested.
“Me, Skylar, and Frankie made some plans for tonight. We can’t come, sorry.” Gerard said.
“Fine, just don’t get murdered.”
“We won’t. I promise.”
