Jacked-Up Names
Kobra Kid, that was his name, was sitting next to me, still apologizing for that hug. I smiled and told him that it was an honest mistake; he was so cute. I wanted to hug him back and let him know that whatever happened to me -- I would find a way to undo it.
I just didn't know how yet...
Hero was standing at the bathroom door. She uttered an awkward hello, and I swear I could see a memory flash past her eyes... White. Color. White. Darkness.
WHAT!? I did not just see that in her eyes. No way. I imagined. Obviously.
"Ummm... Do I know you?" she said, nearing the redhead one.
He brushed his hand on his neck., "I, uhh... I don't think so. Maybe I just have one of those faces..."
"-- that you never forget!" she blurted, ending his sentence. He smiled again, not a clever I-got-you smile. It was kinder... gentler.
"I'm sorry. I don't think we've ever met before," his voice was light and kind of raspy, like a little kid playing outside in the cold all day.
She was in his face now, her curly, pink hair covered both of their faces, "Are you 100% positive?" I bet they were breathing in each other's exhales. Gross. And Hero just puked like 4 times before they showed up.
He hesitated for a second -- just a second, "Positive."
Hero huffed and backed up, coming to sit opposite me now.
It was quiet for a second. Doctor D decided to cut the tension, though. Thank God! "Well," he started, "these are the Fabulous Killjoys. Why don't you all introduce yourselves?"
"I'm Jet," said the man with an afro.
"You can call me Ghoul. It's short for Fun Ghoul," the shorty piped up.
Kobra looked at Hero, "Kobra."
The redhead looked deep in thought, "Oh, sorry. I'm Party Poison, but you guys can call me Party... I guess."
Hero was about to introduce herself, but was cut short by Doctor Death, "Okay, that's enough introductions for now."
She looked like she understood when she obviously didn't. I think it's strange. Why couldn't we say our names? Why? Ugh, my brain started to hurt so bad. Maybe if i get some sleep, I'll remember, I thought. I definitely needed sleep. It had been a long day.
