The One That Got Away
Chapter 6
Frank’s P.O.V
“How was your day sweetie?” my mom asked as soon as I put on my seatbelt.
“Great, but the best class all day today was art.”
“Great! Did you make any new friends? Why was art the funnest class today?” she asked winking at me after the last question.
“Yeah I met a kid named Mickey and another named Ray.” I was careful to leave Gerard out of the picture. I didn’t want to tell her anything about him yet. “It’s not what you think mom’ I extended the sound of the “o” in mom, ‘we just have a really cool teacher that’s all.” The last part sounded like I was trying to convince myself not my mom. I saw the way that Gerard looked at me today during art could it be that he likes me too? Or is it just a figment of my imagination? Plus he has a girlfriend so just like any other guy that I have liked in my life we has to be straight or just not interested. The smile on my face faded to a frown. My mom must have noticed because I felt her stiffen up next to me. She wanted to ask me what I was thinking about I could feel it, but she wasn’t going to do it she always left me to deal with my own problems but I knew that when I needed help or advice I could go talk to her.
When we got home I walked up to my room as usual did my homework. Just as I was about to go take a shower my phone rang. It was a text from Gerard. “Hey Frank’ it read, ‘I got your number from Mikey considering that today is a Friday I was wondering if you wanted to come over and watch a couple of movies or something.” I practically ran down the stairs skipping one and almost rolling down the rest of the way and caught my balance by the ledge on the wall. My mom was watching some show on T.V. I asked her if it was okay for me to go to Gerard’s house, she said as long as I wanted to go it was okay. I replied to Gerard’s message by telling him to send me his address. He sent it to me and I texted back saying that I’ll be there in about thirty minutes.
