Only The Lonely
Slippery Mind
"I gotta go. Sarita's car broke down and she needs a ride. You know, stop looking at Frank the way you do. Sari's got her eye on him and has for years." "I don't have a thing for Frank." Dev's voice squeaked. Her squeak never failed to betray her. "You're a damn liar." Kat frowned and rushed out, too ashamed of her friend to even look at her. Dev always pulled that shit. Acted uninterested until the guy got interested in her and stole the guy from another girl. No one was going to do that to Sarita. She was too good to have the guy of her dreams snatched away so cruelly. Kat got in her car and turned the cd volume up to blast "Rocket Queen" by Guns N Roses, her favourite band. When she pulled up at Sarita's, she honked repeatedly until the girl ran from the house "Thanks for picking me up. I called Frank, he said he'd come look at my car after I got off work." "Oooh Frank. Hey, I told Dev to leave him alone for you. I know you're into him and all that shit. Like I'm gonna let her have him." Kat snorted and started driving "Does being a bartender make good tips?" "Yeah, I expect it would. You ask weird questions, Kat." Sarita laughed "So has your little boyfriend met your parents? Or are they unaware of such a being in your life?" "Oh fuck. I forgot...they're inviting us to dinner for Thanksgiving because they live in Denver...fuck. Shit. Fuck shit damn cunt FUCK. How could I forget? That's in two weeks!" "WE'RE GONNA CRASH, YOU ASSHOLE!" Sarita screamed and grabbed the wheel from Kat, swerving slightly "Thanks Sari."
About half an hour later, Kat dropped Sarita off outside her hostess job "See ya jerk." "Later, bitch." "Picking me up?" "You got it."
