Only The Lonely
Meeting And Coffee
Katrin Lang was working her afternoon shift at the local wing shop. What the hype about chicken wings was, she didn't know or care. It was a fun environment and she made good money, so why question it? Every day it was different. People in a hurry, people who liked to stay and chat, things like that. As she clocked out, she had the feeling someone was watching her. "Listen buddy..." she snarled as she spun around, facing a man in his late 20s, she would assume. "You better not have been checking me out." "Maybe I was, maybe I wasn't." he snickered "Well, I don't date. I haven't dated in over a year." she sniffed and slid her black jacket on "Excuse me." she stalked past him, trying not to remember why exactly she didn't date. "Do you wanna get coffee anyway? There's a nice place that isn't Starbucks around the corner." the man was confident, that's for sure. "Fuck me..." she whispered. She was actually on her way over there right now. "Yeah, whatever. It's not like I'm meeting friends." "What, don't have any? I don't have many." he shrugged as she turned back to face him "So you're kind of a loner?" she half smiled. Stop staring Kat, she mentally screamed at herself. He was average height, with obviously dyed black hair and hazel eyes. His cheeks were round, giving him a boyish look. It was possible he had been overweight, considering the small amount of pudge. Not that it was important, no one is perfect after all. Kat started walking, crossing her arms over her chubby body. It was all chubby except her legs and arms, made worse by her height. Being short made her look even fatter and she hated it. She hated her glasses, her wild hair, her over large feet, her weight, you name it. "I'm Katrin, by the way. But call me Kat." "I'm Gerard." he smiled. Gerard. What a nice name "It's French." "What?" "Your name is Gerard. It's French, just like Katrin is the Austrian form of Katrina or Kathrin." Kat railed off "Intelligent, I see." Gerard nodded "Homeschooled. Even though I didn't do so well in freshman math. I always hated algebra." "I did too." she hadn't even realized they had arrived until he opened the door for her "You're a gentleman." "Fuck yeah, I'm the greatest."
