This Band Will Save Your Life (Frank Iero fanfic)

Chapter 8: Take My Hand

Fallyn's POV

~~~
Frank stopped in front of another store.
He had no idea how to shop for a someone like me, he kept on stopping at shops that had girly titles or pink walls.
I had no hesitation when it came to giving him my honest opinion of the color pink.
"Please stop with all the pink. I couldn't hate it more if I tried, greens much more my shade." Frank tightened his grip on my hand and changed the direction we were waking in.
"I know just the place" Frank took me to store that wasn't covered in pink or rhinestones.
"This one looks nice." I said looking at clothes that were of the more individual variety.
Instead of everything being bedazzled and yuck there were band shirts, different kinds of skinny jeans and spiked things.
"Why didn't you say that you wanted to go to Hot Topic?" Frank asked while I looked at a rack of shirts.
"I don't know what Hot Topic sells, we haven't got one in Blackford." We need one in my town, I thought as I looked at all the T-shirts.
I was struck by inspiration when a particular shirt jumped out at me.
"Frank can you come here for a second?" He walked up to me and I held the shirt to his chest and started laughing.
"What's so funny?" He held the shirt to himself and walked over to a mirror.
"Oh, hahaha. You are the queen of funny." The look on his face made me laugh that much harder. He was holding up a shirt with a picture of himself on it and he was giving me the same smirk as he had in the picture.
"That is the funniest thing that I've ever seen and I'm being honest." A snort came from my mouth and I quickly muffled any other strange sounds that might come from me.
"I forgot that this store sold some of our merch. Back to business, we only have two hours and if we take any longer Gerard will think I kidnapped you." Frank said while putting the shirt back into place on the shelf.
He handed me about ten different tops and pointed me in the general direction of the changing room.
I took off my hoodie and my regular shirt to try on one on a shirt Frank had picked for me.
He'd actually managed to guess my size, but then again he'd probably seen the tags on my regular shirts when he was trying to find me something to put on while I was having a shower.
I tried on the rest of the tops, they all fitted and looked good on, huh, who knew that Frank had a good taste in fashion for girls.
"Does everything fit?" He asked as I put my T-shirt and hoodie back on.
"Yeah, they fit just fine." I said pulling the curtain back with one hand while holding the shirts which were hanging from their hangers with the other.
"Do you like them?"
"They all look really nice, you're good at picking clothes."
"What can I say, I'm a fashionista." He finished off his words with a smile and took the clothes from me.
"You should go and look at the pants over there." Frank gestured to the jeans hanging from racks with his head and I nodded and walked over to them while he presumably put the shirts away.
I pulled out a few pairs of jeans I liked and went back to the change room to try them on.
My favorite were a dark blue pair with turquoise swirls climbing up the side, yes, I like swirly things.
"You in here Fallyn?" I heard Franks voice on the other side of the curtain.
"I'm trying on some jeans. Do you wanna see a pair?" I said while buttoning up a purple pair that had patches of black lace all over them.
"Sure." He didn't wait for me to open the curtain and pulled it back by himself.
"What do you think." I spun around while my brain screamed put downs at me for acting stupid.
"You look, uh I'm not sure how to say this without sounding creepy... kinda cute, I guess. Never mind."
"Thanks." I managed to say before my cheeks flushed red and I pulled the curtain shut.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to embarrass you or say something weird." He didn't say anything weird and I could be a bit self conscience sometimes.
I wasn't used to getting compliments from people and it made me feel nervous in a happy sorta way to get a compliment like that from Frank.
"It's okay, that was really sweet of you to say that. I've never been complimented by a rock star before." The second I finished my sentence I wanted to slap myself once more for sounding like an idiot.
Why doesn't my brain work the way it normally does when I'm around him.
He makes me forget all forms of logical speech.
"No problem then. Take all the time you need to." I'd already finished trying on all the jeans so I changed back to my plain green skinny legs.
I pulled the curtain back and walked over to a glasses rack where Frank was looking at a couple of different pairs.
"Uh, I've finished."
"Okay, you wanna buy the clothes and look at another store now?" He took the jeans from me and stood there, waiting for a response.
"Sure." My brain couldn't come up with many words when I saw the happy smile on his face.
He's kinda cute too.
I'd expected him to put a couple of pairs of jeans back on the rack, instead he walked to the counter and put then next to the heap of tops I'd already tried.
"Lesson one Gerard needs to learn. Never hand me a credit card, because you'll regret it later." I wanted to object to the buying of so many clothes but I ended up laughing and by the time I stopped he'd bought the clothes.
He handed me one of the four bags and looped his arm around mine.
"Oh man, Gee's gonna kill me." Frank was laughing but I had a feeling that he might be serious.
"Frank you didn't have to buy everything, just a couple would've been more than enough."
"Na, it's no problem. It's the band credit card anyways, we all use it to buy stuff. Actually two days ago Mikey spent over a hundred bucks on comic books." My jaw feel open, I liked comic books as well but I could never spend a hundred dollars on just comic books.
"Yep, that was Gerard's reaction when Mikey told him. But I think we could spend five times that amount on you and Gee wouldn't have a problem. He likes you."
"What do you mean?"
"I know that we've only known you for a short time but we've seen you go through a fucking hard time. Gerard thinks of you like a little sister. Congratulations, you now have expiration void get out of jail free card."
"I'm still lost."
"Anything you do wrong, Gee won't blame you for. He'll blame Mikey or Ray, most likely me though." Frank shrugged as we walked out the front of the store.
"So whatever I do he'll blame you for it?" I asked wanting to know if he was being serious, after all this was Frank.
"I'm the go to person for blame."
"That's a bit mean. I promise that I'll try not to get you in trouble." Except for the occasional time that I'll drink or smoke I never did anything bad so Frank is unlikely to get in trouble for something I did .
"Thanks but Gerard will find something to come up with no matter what. He's been a real big buzzkill since he got himself clean." Oh yeah, I'd forgotten that Gerard was on drugs for a while.
As we entered the throng of people panic began to creep back into my chest and air suddenly became a rare commodity.
How could there be so many people in one place?
Are they having a festival in here or something?
Like earlier Frank had to pull me off to the side so I'd calm down.
"Fallyn, chill out. It's people, if it makes you feel any better imagine that it's a whole bunch of puppies." I closed my eyes and tried to pretend that everyone around me except for Frank were puppies.
"Why are there so many puppies in here!?" I'd said the sentence too loudly and a couple of people stared at me for a moment.
"Okay never mind the puppies. Would a hug calm you down?"
No.
"I don't know." Frank lent in and gave me a hug anyway and my heartbeat multiplied by a million, thank god he can't hear this.
"Is that better?"
If your goal was to make me feel flustered then its a yes.
"Yes." I squeaked while catching my beanie as it fell off my head.
"We've only got to get a couple more things. Bra and panties, your girly soap and pajamas I think there's a bra store over there." Frank pointed to a row of shops not far away from us.
Did Frank Iero just say bra and panties?
"Come on, lets go." He took my hand and began pulling me through the crowd of people while I tried to avoid them and ignore the electric feeling running through the palm of my hand.
We went in the door and as the bell chimed a sales lady looked up, she gave us a once over as if she was trying to decide whether or not we were worth her time.
There were bras and panties everywhere, I knew what size bra I wore but in a place like this I was lost.
What the hell was I supposed to pick. Underwire, padded, sports, push-up, strap free?
"They're staring at me." Frank whispered and I started giggling like a idiot. We cruised the bra stuffed shelves and I stared with literally no idea what to choose.
I'm a girl and all this stuff is practically foreign.
"Do you know what you are looking for?" Frank asked me as I picked up a bra and started turning it over in my hands.
"Nope, do you?"
"What do you think, I can barely get one off let alone find one for you to wear."
A grin came to my face.
"If you have trouble taking them off then maybe you shouldn't have put them on." We both started laughing and the sales lady's head snapped up.
"Can I help you?" She actually wasn't being rude and that made me feel slightly startled.
"I'm looking for a bra but I have no idea where to start." I said as she came over to us with a practised poker face.
"Do you know what cup you are?" I glanced at Frank who was looking at his mobile phone, probably trying to pretend that this wasn't happening.
I told her my bra size and she gave me a sigh and walked off in a way that made me think I was supposed to follow her.
"This section is for D cups. Whatever you are looking for will be here. Do you need anything else?" Frank was still standing in the corner or the store with his phone.
I had no idea why I was looking at him, it's not like he could help me.
"No, I think I'll be fine from here on." While she was standing there I got a bra off the shelf.
"The change rooms that way. Try it on. If it fits then you know what bra to look for and if it doesn't come to me and I'll measure you for a bra." She went back to her place at the counter while I stood there with the bra on its hanger.
In the change room I took off my hoodie and top, quickly adjusted the straps and put the bra on, It looks fine and it's comfortable.
With my checklist of bra requirements filled I took it off and put my shirt back on so I could get one in a different color, buy some panties and get out of here.
I picked up a camouflage print one and held it while I looked for Frank who had moved to a seat that I didn't notice earlier.
Frank looked up and noticed that I'd finished so he pocketed his mobile and came over to me.
"Ready to go?"
"I just need panties and I'll be ready. This is a bit awkward but can you help? I don't want to talk to that woman again." He nodded and walked off to try and find something, I'm not sure how he'd have a chance considering that he didn't know my size.
After looking at a couple of shelves with different cuts, colors and sizes I found something that looked reasonable and came in a multipack.
Without spending more time than looking at the color and the size I grabbed it and gestured to Frank that I was finished.
"I saved some time and found pajamas for you." He held up some silky looking dark green pajamas that I was positive would fit me considering that he'd managed to guess my clothes size before.
"Thanks, I don't want to seem like I'm rushing but I don't want to stay here longer than I have to. This place makes me feel weird."
"That's fine, I don't like it here either." He took the stuff from me and walked to the counter as I followed.
"Did you find everything you need?" The counter lady asked as she scanned the stuff.
"Yes, I think I've got everything. Thank you for the help." She gave me a tight lipped smile as Frank put the credit card through the machine.
We thanked her again before we walked out the front of the shop.
Frank led me to a seat and we sat with the six shopping bags that we'd gotten from our store adventures.
"We have about fifteen more minutes till we have to meet with the guys at the front of the mall so I texted them. Gerard says he'll get you some bathroom gear, toothbrush, soap, stuff like that. We'll have enough time to get a mobile." I really didn't want them buying me a mobile phone, it was too nice and I had no one to call with it anyway.
Well I did but nobody I wanted to talk to again.
Like Mum or the people who I'd thought were my friends.
Holy what?
I just read this and it was amazing and now it's four am.
I loved it. Seriously. You are a fantastic writer, and I cannot wait for the next book!
The only thing that I didn't like was the misspelling of ridiculous. Every time. xD
But otherwise, it was awesome.
