This Band Will Save Your Life (Frank Iero fanfic)

Chapter 23: A Stain That Never Comes Off

Frank's POV

~~~
Fallyn was staring off into the distance with her head in the clouds expression that was adorable.
I still couldn't believe how okay she was with this, she's acting as if I'd casually mentioned we had to go shopping.
Not that I'd told her I was an immortal, mythological being that drank blood and was more than capable of killing people.
Damn girls are complex.
She was literally sitting there with my blood on her, the kind that had healed a cut and she had no problems with it.
Gerard was gonna have an interesting reaction when I mentioned telling her to him.
He'd either be stoked I told her and saved him the effort of having an awkward five hour explanation.
Or he'd be very angry because I'd gone against what we agreed on and told her by myself before Saturday.
Like earlier on her shirt had began falling off her shoulder and she came back to reality to adjust it.
"So, uh, how do you eat?" Fallyn asked while lying down on her stomach once more and propping herself up with her elbows.
"Well, I usually bite people. I don't kill them though I'm not a murderer. Usually I'll go to a club or someplace like that and girl will kinda invite me back to their house."
Out of all the cool things I get from being a vampire why on earth have I kept the ability to blush, it's sucks.
"You sleep with people and bite them?" I didn't explain this properly, I could have done a much better job.
"No, I don't do that. Girls will kiss me and there's some kind of chloroform like thing in my saliva so they pass out, or sleep. Then I bite them, but I don't hurt anyone." She nodded while I continued to talk about things with a interested expression.
"How do you become a vampire?"
I actually wasn't sure, Mikey and I were the only ones who didn't know how to make another vampire. We were the last ones made and it was at the same time so we didn't get to witness the process. Mikey didn't want to know about it and never asked because he liked to think of himself as human. Gerard refused to tell me because there was a chance I'd use it to turn another person.
I had some idea of how it worked, I knew blood and biting was involved but that was the most I knew.
"I'm not sure, I was the last out of us to be turned and Gee refuses to say anything." Her mouth dropped open and I realised I hadn't told her the rest of the group were vampires.
"Wait, you mean the others are vamps as well, even Bob and Mikey?"
"Yep, Gerard's responsible for it." Her eyes grew wider and I laughed a little bit at her cute expression.
"What happened?" Since she was being calm and laid back I gave her the full explanation of everything.
He got killed by a vampire while human she turned him, he didn't eat for ages and killed Ray who he turned to save because he didn't want his friend dead.
Ray refused to eat and after what seems like forever to a hungry vampire he accidentally killed Bob who ended up having to be turned by Gerard.
Mikey and I died from a car crash after driving drunkenly home and Gee had to save us through turning us into vampires. I told her how Mikey and Bob were the ones who needed to watch themselves the most around blood because it only took a little to make them go psycho.
Mikes tries to cling to his humanity by sleeping a lot and not doing anything vampiric if he can avoid it but loved how fast he could move (it was his guilty vampire pleasure).
Gerard is the forever around watchdog of the group who keeps us in check and is the one who had to clean up our mistakes during the rare times we make them.
I'm about the only one of us who knows how to have fun with our abilities and immortality, which meant I'd do plenty of stupid things like jumping off twenty story buildings.
By the time I gave her a full explanation on everything it was around five or six in the morning, it had been around one when we got back to the hotel after the pizza shop though so we hadn't been here very long.
I have no idea how it could take so long for me to explain something like this but it still happened.
It was fun telling her about the life of a vampire, which for me was exciting and occasionally infuriating.
At no point did I stop talking, except for the intervals when she'd ask a question.
Light started to pour in the windows from the rising sun but she still listened to me with a small smile on her face.
"Aren't you tired?" I asked her as she changed her seating position for the twentieth time.
"No, I don't get tired easily. I once went four days without any sleep, not even a nap."
That would explain her alertness then.
She should still be feeling a little tired, she woke up at six yesterday and has been awake for a whole day and night.
There should at least be a couple of yawns or some arm stretching.
"Will you at least sleep on the bus?" I felt bad at the thought of making her stay up all night just to listen to me babble.
"Sure, I'm not feeling tired though." It was no secret how unshakeable she was once her mind was set on something so I didn't push the matter further.
"What happens when you haven't eaten for a while?"
"My throat burns and it gets hard to hide my teeth, it'll hurt." My throat was actually burning slightly right now, I'd eaten yesterday but it hasn't been enough.
"Does it hurt now." I thought over my answer for a moment before answering.
"A little bit, yeah." She nodded and went on to another question while smiling.
"What's it like to be bitten by a vampire?"
Even if I did know how it felt I wouldn't be able to explain it, I knew that much.
"I don't know, I was dead when I was bitten. You could ask Gee, Ray or Bob when they wake up though."
They'd have a better chance of putting it into words than I would.
The only thing I knew about being bitten by a vampire was it left scars, ones I still had on my wrists.
"Bite me then." Did I hear her correctly?
"Haha, what?" She shrugged and sat up, I'm still unsure whether or not she was being serious.
"Bite me, I want to see what it feels like."
Okay so I didn't happen to mishear her.
Now the next question, is this a joke?
"You're kidding." She shook her head and I frowned, why on earth would she be crazy enough to want to know what it feels like?
"Nope. I know you won't hurt me or kill me and I won't get turned will I?"
"I wouldn't hurt you or anything like that and it wouldn't turn you but Gerard would kill me if I did anything."
He'd unbanned me from flirting with her but his sanity would break and I would be murdered. Seriously, I'm an immortal vampire and he would find a way to kill me.
"I'll tell Gee I asked you to bite me. Besides didn't you say your throat was burning earlier."
Did she have any idea what she was saying right now? I'm not sure if the skittles have finished wearing off yet.
Should I get her a cool cloth or call 911?
"You do realise what you're asking right? Biting obviously hurts and you aren't freaked out at the thought of letting a hungry vampire bite you?" Fallyn shrugged, literally shrugged as if it wasn't the slightest problem.
Maybe if she did tell Gerard she asked me to bite her I knew it wouldn't be a good idea in general.
She's making this choice strictly because she wants to know what it's like to be bitten by a vampire.
If she wants know that badly then she only has to wait a couple more hours and Gerard, Ray or Bob can tell her.
"I'm not scared, I trust you and you saved me so its the least I could do is since you haven't eaten in a while."
Fallyn was too nice for her own good. After a second or two of looking at her smile I let out a sigh and gave up. She said I got my way a lot, does she not understand how often she gets hers?
"Hmm, I guess."
A victory smile went across her face and she gleefully clapped her hands, I have no idea why though.
To most people being bitten by a vampire would be a nightmare, not a challenge.
I'm not sure whether or not I appreciated her unusualness, because currently it wasn't doing me any favours.
I'm also unused to having someone I could bite without having to knock out or go to a club to meet.
This was Fallyn, unique, beautiful, innocent girl who had an strangely bright perspective of life despite trying to kill herself not long ago.
I'd feel like I'd be taking advantage of her for some reason even though she's smart and has a better idea of what she's doing than I do.
My eyes went to the clock radio, it's almost half past six, time flies when you have no idea what you're doing.
The thought of blood in general made my throat burn more violently and my teeth hurt.
Her attitude change from Saturday night to right now was so huge it was almost like she was two different people.
I doubted she had multiple personalities though, she was able to willingly repress memories but that was it.
"How do we do this?" Her enthusiasm made me laugh, how someone could be so perky about something like this I didn't get.
"Wrist or neck?" I'm not sure I understood my own words and could only hope I didn't sound like a huge idiot.
"What?" Yep, I'd failed in making my sentence understandable.
"Do you want me to bite you on the wrist or the neck?" My face went bright red as I spoke, this was embarrassing while being weird.
"What's the difference?" Finally I felt like a semi normal person when her cheeks went crimson.
"I'm not really sure, it's a choice I guess. Gerard and Mikes prefer to bite people on the neck, Ray and Bobbert prefer the wrist."
They never say it out loud but its not like you have to ask them when you're capable of hearing each others thoughts everyday all day. It took a lot of focus to hide your thoughts from the group and even then you'd occasionally slip up.
I'm the only one who everybody doesn't know everything about, because most of the guys got annoyed by my constant mind babble and would actually shut themselves off from me.
"Uh, what do you prefer?" I'd put myself in the perfect situation for her to ask that question, I need to plan my words more carefully from now on.
To be honest I usually preferred biting people on the wrist, the others were victims. But I didn't want to think of Fallyn as just another person I had bitten and I didn't want her to feel like a victim.
And to tell the truth I wanted this to be something special.
"Um, I usually go for the wrist but I think I'd rather bite you, uh on the neck. I just wanted you to know that I've never bitten anyone like that before and uh, you're the first person that's ever been awake for it and I wanted you know, for it to be different." For some reason my mind and body had banned me from any normal behaviour and I felt more awkward every second.
I want to know what happened to the fun, rules don't matter, I'll do this just to piss you off, me who I was only two days ago.
This is like a uncomfortable moment at a school dance when you're trying to ask someone you like if they wanted to dance.
"Sure, okay." How on earth was it possible for this girl to be so freaking determined?
"You do remember the saying curiosity killed the cat right?" She laughed and moved closer to me, I seriously have no idea how I'm supposed to go about this.
"I'm not a cat and your name's not curiosity." She's resorting to comedy during the worst time anyone could think of.
"Okay, uh, move your hair." Fallyn's face went red and she started giggling to the point of it sounding hysterical. It was cute but strange, I haven't seen anyone laugh during a situation this tense before.
"What's with the laughter?" Before answering the question she snorted and covered up her mouth.
"I'm sorry, I laugh when nervous." I used to do the same thing, that's why everyone knew when I'd be lying, I'd either get a huge grin or start laughing.
I'd still do it occasionally.
While struggling to stop giggling Fallyn moved her hair to the side of her neck then sat there with a nervous smile. My fangs flipped down and the pressure in my teeth disappeared but the burning in my throat increased.
"I still can't believe I'm agreeing to this. Gerard's gonna flat out murder me." Fallyn giggled once more and I gave her a small smile, I can only imagine how scary I look with my fangs.
"Just do it before I chicken out." I moved closer to her and leant closer to her neck, she was still giggling which created the illusion of thinking she was fine but her heartbeat said otherwise.
"Stay still, I don't wanna accidentally hurt you or screw up." Her shoulders that had been shaking with laughter stopped moving although I could hear the giggles almost silently coming from her.
A small part of me wanted Gerard to walk in and start yelling and another part was overly giddy.
My mouth touched her neck and any remaining laughter she had stopped immediately.
I closed my eyes, listening to her breathing for a moment as my fangs got sharper.
Carefully, being afraid of hurting her I sunk my fangs into her throat.
"Ouch." She gasped, her heartbeat multiplied but she stayed still and didn't freak out.
Blood exploded into my mouth and the burning in my throat amplified to the point of being painful then disappeared.
Her blood tasted amazing, sweet but strong just like she was.
It hadn't occurred to me until too late that I had issues when it came to blood and biting people.
The guys had to keep an eye on me almost every time when I fed to stop me from having a full blown spazz out.
It was Fallyn though, not some stranger I'd never see again, she was my friend and someone I cared for like no other girl I'd ever met before.
Whenever I was around her I felt like I was normal again, almost the same guy I'd been before I got turned.
The burning dissipated and I got a warm feeling that spread from the inside out, all remaining hunger went away.
I held off the instinct to knock her out using whatever magic it is that enabled me to eat without being caught.
For some reason she put her hands on my shoulders, how she can be this relaxed I don't know.
It's gotta hurt being bitten by a vampire without being unconscious.
My skin felt like it was covered with electricity that ran up and down my whole body, I got this feeling every time I was full.
It'd been too long since I last got it.
I know that I'd gotten my fill and wouldn't be hungry again for a while but I wanted to stay there a little longer.
Right now I felt the closest to her that I've ever been and I wanted to enjoy it because this might be as close as I'll ever get.
Her heart that was beating fast and loud slowed a little, she'd become calm and her breathing was back to normal.
I should stop now, I don't want to risk talking so much blood that I'll have to turn her.
I took my mouth away from her throat and immediately covered the wound with my hand.
"Hehe, it tickled." Fallyn gave me a grin and went back to her hyperactive giggling. She'd be fine but there was blood running out of the wound I'd covered with my hand.
Since she was willing to go to the point of letting me bite her I decided to test out a theory I've had since Saturday night.
I moved my hand away from her neck and watched as a long trail of blood ran down her neck.
When I bit her on Saturday to revive her, her neck healed up by itself so I assumed I might be able to heal with my saliva as well.
So in a moment of blood giddy fuelled idiocy I licked the wound on her neck, she began laughing instantly. Unfortunately the bite marks didn't heal, huh, I swore it would work. Maybe she'd had enough of my blood in her on Saturday that it healed her neck without needing the blood to be applied directly.
"Why did you do that?" She took her hands off my shoulders and pressed one to her neck.
"It was an idea, never mind." I blushed slightly as she gave me a soft smile, she smiled a lot, not that I minded.
Because my theory didn't work I had to fix up the cut the old fashioned way so I made a small cut on my hand using a fang.
The bite marks on her neck didn't have to be healed since another component of vampire spit made blood congeal quickly once we stopped feeding, but I didn't want her to be stuck with a wound.
As I went to press my bleeding hand to her neck there was a knock on the door.
Shit, worst fucking timing ever. I gestured for her to wait then got up and walked to the door while wiping my blood onto my black T-shirt.
By the time I opened the door the cut on my hand was gone. I unlocked the hotel room door and opened it, I was unlucky and it didn't occur to me to check the peephole first.
"Hey, Frankie. Good you're already awake, we haven't got much time to get packed. What's on your face? Did you go out to get something to eat tonight?" Gerard walked into the room without waiting for an invitation or a response greeting. He looked at Fallyn who was sitting on the bed with her hand over the bite marks on her neck.
Another stupid thing I've done today, not realised blood is very noticeable on a bright white shirt...and her shirt had a lot of blood on it.
"Uh yeah I got something to eat." Fallyn waved at him as I tried to pretend nothing was happening. Gee was probably able to guess she knew but once he saw her sitting there calmly with a smile and blood running down her hand he went from standing by the doorway to standing by the bed.
"What the fuck did you do to her?!" I closed the door and looked at Gerard who was just about to tick over to having an aneurism.
It was kind of obvious, he knew that.
"I wanted to know what it's like to be bitten by a vampire and Frankie was hungry so I did him a favour." She shrugged and gave Gee a big, bright smile while he sat on the bed next to her looking shocked. He could have been yelling at me with mind speak if he wanted, instead he chose to sit there with a calm and murderous expression.
"She knows? When did she find out? You told her! Why did you tell her? We were supposed to tell her on Saturday not today or yesterday!" He said, standing up and looking like he was ready to hit me.
Gerard didn't allow me to get a word in edgewise for what felt like ages and when I got my opportunity I had to speak fast. Even though I did my best to explain he was still very angry and looked like he wanted to murder me, I predicted this before I bit her.
Fallyn looked guilty and I went to sit next to her so I could comfort her but Gee stopped me with his scary calm voice.
"What about the rule? True fans are off limits, no matter what." Screw Gerard and not in the Frerard way, I sat next to her on the bed and she put her head on my shoulder.
"What about friends?"
'Or people you viewed as more than friends?' I added to my sentence through mind speak.
"I don't care how you think of her. She's off limits and we agreed on that. I haven't touched her, neither has Mikey, Bob or Ray. How hard is it to not bite someone?"
The angrier he seemed the more Fallyn frowned and looked annoyed, which is a cute expression coming from her. He started applying swearwords and she stood up and put her hands on her hips.
The blood had stopped flowing down her neck and now it congealed and crusted on her shirt.
"Leave him alone! I don't care who you are or if you're some kind of mythical creature, I don't want you treating Frankie like that, now or ever! He's my friend and I asked him to bite me, he had my permission!"
The second Fallyn started yelling at him he shut up, Gerard didn't have people yelling at him often.
This was going to be hilarious.
The only thing that I didn't like was the misspelling of ridiculous. Every time. xD
But otherwise, it was awesome.
