This Band Will Save Your Life (Frank Iero fanfic)

Chapter 18: Made From The Sharpest Things

Frank's POV

~~~
For the first time in the fourteen months I've been a vampire I happily slept when I wasn't tired.
I'd gotten into the far side of the bed in case she woke up and freaked out by finding me next to her.
I had hardly been in the bed for longer than five minutes before her sleeping frame moved next to me and I was back to being used as a human pillow, not that I minded.
The last thing I remembered before going to sleep was her warm body pressed against mine.
I'm not usually one for inappropriate thoughts but if Gerard was in the room right now he'd probably strangle me to death.
Someone was shaking me, my mind instantly flashed to Fallyn who's heart was beating loudly while my throat burned slightly.
"Frank." She sounded like she was wide awake and I opened my eyes to see her looking at me with her perfectly shaped sea green eyes.
"Fallyn? What's the matter?" Something brushed my lip and it took a second for me to realise during my sleep the fangs had came out. I immediately retraced them and prayed she didn't notice. The strange look on her face said my beliefs were useless.
"Uh, it doesn't matter, never mind. I had a nightmare and it screwed with my head. I'm sorry for waking you up."
She moved her head off my chest and placed it on the pillow, she had to have noticed. The main thing that registered with me was her saying she had a nightmare, that she didn't need.
"It's okay, I don't mind. I'm here if you ever need me."
I was telling the truth, it didn't matter if she hated me, liked me or knew whether or not I was a vampire, I'd still be there for her.
Her cheeks went a pretty shade of red and her embarrassed face looked adorable.
I tightened my arm which lay across her waist slightly and she moved her head back to my chest while letting out a small sigh.
I'm thinking about telling Gerard to screw his opinions on how I should behave around her.
Katelyn could go to hell too, I'm gonna behave like me without allowing others to influence what I think about her and how I act.
My teeth ached and my throat burned but I wouldn't let her go for the world, my body would have to deal with it.
Her breathing deepened and her head moved to the crook of my neck and my still heart throbbed slightly. She's like a kitten, cute, innocent, slightly clueless and has claws that she doesn't know how to use.
A small blonde and black haired kitten, even though I was a dog person she didn't remind me of a dog in any way.
How can she have such an affect on me?
I haven't even known her for a full week yet and I was more than willing to make the whole band hate me. I was considering telling her about us before Saturday, she deserved to know even if it would freak her out.
On the night we found her I screwed up, I healed her using my blood, she saw and she panicked like I'd never seen anyone panic before.
She called us demons, hyperventilated then passed out from lack of air.
We'd talked over how we were going to tell her about us being vampires, the plan was sitting her down and calmly explaining things. If she got scared or ran away there would be nothing we could do.
We'd caught a break when she forgot what happened on the bus, the chances of things turning out like that again were unlikely.
So yeah, if she spazzed the only thing we'd be able to would would be restraining her until she calmed down, which would not work out well.
Or we could try turning her, which wouldn't work out well either and we'd end up with a pissed off girl with super strength and speed and it doesn't take a genius to know not to do that.
If I talked to her before the guys got a chance then I might be able to explain things and keep her within a sane mindset. She seemed to trust me and I hoped she'd trust me enough to know I'd never hurt her even if I was a vampire.
After all this thinking I'd managed to convince myself to tell her, it would have to be after our last Seattle concert.
There was only one day before Saturday, Friday and we'd be on the bus and traveling again, which wouldn't give me alone time with her to explain.
She'd be staying in my room tomorrow night and that would give me the opportunity.
There was a chance that she'd spazz out, scream and make Gee come to my room so he could yell at me and give murder his best shot.
I'd have to hope she didn't do anything.
Fallyn was breathing quietly against my chest, totally unaware of the trouble I caused her a couple of days ago. From the angle I was on I could see the healed up cut on her arm, it was faint but with my eyesight it didn't take any effort to see.
To think my stupid wristband had done that to her and it was my blood that healed the wound.
I looked at my palm, there was no scar or mark on my skin and there never would be again.
Sure I could continue to get tattoos but any injury I got would heal up and disappear as if it had never happened. The only proof of me ever having been cut or hurt was some vampire bites on my wrist, people thought it was snakebite marks or a birthmark, they were wrong.
With her hair away from her neck I could see my bite marks turned scars on Fallyn's neck, she'd never notice them unless she looked really closely in the mirror.
My throat started to burn again while I looked at her, my teeth hurt in conjunction and I decided since she was asleep I might as well let them out.
I should really have gone hunting tonight, I'm pushing my luck by avoiding the inevitable need to drink blood. I looked over Fallyn's shoulder at the clock sitting on the nightstand.
It's nearly four in the morning, maybe I could sneak out now?
Carefully while trying not to wake her up I lifted her arm off my chest and placed her head on a pillow. Since a guy walking around the streets at a ridiculously early time in the morning in his boxers was suspicious I pulled on a pair of jeans and a jacket.
She pushed her face into a pillow and I laughed quietly, she liked sleep as much as I do, or at least did.
I stepped into the hallway and locked the door behind me, I didn't want people coming into my room and stealing Pansy or waking Fallyn. When I knocked on Gee's door he opened it and looked at me with a confused expression.
"Hey Frankie, what's up?" He opened the door wider and I walked in, there were pieces of paper covering the coffee table, he'd been working by the looks of it.
"I'm gonna go out and get something to eat. I was wondering if I could use your window, mine won't open and I don't want anyone in the lobby to see me." A rule that we'd quickly come up with was not letting anyone notice you doing suspicious stuff.
If I went out through the lobby and someone saw me leaving, then there was a report of someone being attacked and I came in with blood on me an hour or so after the incident then people would think something's up. Leaving through a window was a much better idea.
We always got rooms that faced away from streets so nobody would be able to see me leaving or arriving and it's not like there was any effort when it came to jumping out the window to the ground or getting from the ground and up to the window.
"Sure, you want me to go with you? I've fed recently so I won't be getting anything but if you want company I could go." I was feeling sure I'd be able to feed without hurting or killing anyone, even though it had been a while since I'd eaten.
"Na, I'll be fine. You want anything while I'm out?" I was joking when it came to asking if he wanted anything.
"You think you could get some Starbucks?" Did Gee actually think I was being serious?
"It was a joke, have you ever tried scaling a five story building and getting into a window?" While talking I opened up the large window and removed the protective meshed frame.
"Yes and it was seven story's not five."
Show off, Gerard was the only person I knew who was dedicated enough to Starbucks that he'd manage to jump from the ground to a seventh story window.
"I'll see what I can do." I ducked out the window and stood on the foot wide ledge on the side of the building.
It was still dark outside but it was getting lighter as the day came, I'd get maybe half an our to eat before the streets filled with busy people heading to work. The ground looked very far away from where I was.
Although I was an unkillable, immortal vampire I had kept my fear of heights and it made me feel like I'd kept some small piece of my mortality.
I said see ya to Gerard who closed the window behind me and moved along the ledge so I could look in my own window.
Fallyn was asleep in the large bed, she was hugging a pillow with her hair hanging over her face.
She is so cute.
I smiled at her sleeping form before I turned around and took the step into the air which sent me plummeting towards the ground. My knees bent slightly and I landed, this almost makes me forget about all the sucky things.
It's such a shame no one will ever be able to catch me doing this.
Frank Iero, real life vampire, I could imagine the headlines already.
If anyone knew the truth one of the first things they'd want to know was why I ate people.
If that was to happen I'd tell them I wasn't a stupid fucking Twilight vampire who ate animals, didn't eat animals as a human and I'm not eating them as a vamp.
While walking down the street my mind ran over the streets, there weren't many people in the street at this hour. Some clubs and bars might be open, I thought while leaving the area that was mainly known for hotels.
I'm not the kind of vampire who kills people because I didn't have to, or want to, although I had met vamps who did when they fed.
Yeah, there were other vampires in the world besides me and the band, everything has to start somewhere.
Gerard had been the unfortunate victim of a teen girl who was a vamp, she'd been hunting and he'd been around and on his way out of a show.
Luckily the girl had been a huge fan of our music so when she realized she'd just killed Gerard Way, the lead singer of My Chemical Romance she turned him, because that's the only way to save someone once you've killed them.
I won't go into details but Gee was the cause of the rest of the group being turned.
It went Gee, Ray, Bob, Mikey, then me.
Ray being turned was the product of Gerard getting too hungry and accidentally killing him, since Gee didn't want his friend dead he saved him.
Funnily enough it was Ray's fault that Bob got turned, he pulled nearly the same thing as Gerard and got too hungry and killed Bobbert.
Because Ray had no idea how to turn someone Gee had to it so its a joint responsibility for Bob becoming a vampire.
Mikey and I got turned for the same reason, a very stupid one that I was slightly embarrassed about.
The band had gone out after a concert and we'd all gotten drunk, at least Mikey and I had, we were the only members left with the ability to get drunk.
I'd insisted that I drive and in my incredibly drunken state I kinda accidentally drove the car off a steep drop.
Since Gee, Ray and Bob were already vampires they didn't get a scratch on them and were able to easily climb out of the wreckage.
Mikey and I weren't so lucky.
The front of the car had been crushed, I'd gotten a piece of metal through the chest which killed be instantly and Mikey bled to death. Imagine what it would have been like reading something like that in the morning paper.
Gerard obviously didn't want either of us to die and had to turn Mikey and I.
When we woke up we knew what had happen because the whole group had been aware of all vampire based things.
We walked away from the crash and no one ever found out or reported the car crash, so nobody ever knew that Frank Iero and Mikey Way died in a car crash.
A smile spread across my face as I remembered the ongoing joke the band had about Mike. Whether alive or dead, human or vampire he would always have a blank expression on his face.
I walked down a random street that was littered with clubs.
This place is as good as any, I wasn't going to attack everyone like a lunatic but I would have to get someone alone...and now I sounded like a murderer.
I wasn't a murderer but I happened to have the ability of inbuilt chloroform, which meant I could knock someone out with some kind special venom that I use at will.
When I had to feed off civilians I chose to use it, because its tricky explaining why you bit them and drank their blood.
Night clubs were closing and people were leaving. I walked past one club in particular and was stopped when someone recognized me, which I'd been counting on.
"Hey, you're Frank Iero." I stopped and looked at the young woman who'd called out my name.
She was around my age with brown hair, too much makeup and she looked like she'd been attacked by a tanning machine.
But I wasn't one to judge people for their looks, after all only a couple of days ago someone judged me for my tattoos.
"Yep that's me, what's your name?" To be perfectly honesty couldn't be less interested in her if I tried. How I acted was something I had to do so I could eat.
"Hehe, I'm Jessie." I shook her outstretched hand and internally flinched when I saw her nails that could pass for talons.
"That's a pretty name. Are you a fan?" I really wanted to get back to the hotel and Fallyn with her cute sleeping kitten expression.
"Yeah, huge. I like totally love that song, what's it called, uh, Helena. That's the song. Where's Gee?" She looked around me as if I'd be walking around the streets at three thirty in the morning with him.
"He's back at the hotel with Ray, Bob and Mikey." She laughed a little at some joke I'd missed out on and I had to resist covering my ears at her shrill laughter.
Jessie was probably a nice girl on the inside but it had been hidden under pounds of fake tan, makeup and hair extensions.
"Haha, who's Ray, Bob and Mikey?" Are you kidding me? She didn't even know who Mikey, Bob and Ray were?
Biggest fan ever.
"That doesn't matter, what's someone like you doing out here?" Internally my brain was screaming at me, 'why are you talking to this person?'
I think I'd rather be around a over obsessed fan who knows every single little thing about us.
"Ugh, my cab hasn't showed up, I called for it like an hour ago. I'd walk home but no guy is honorable to do it."
Did her makeup happen scare them off?
"How about I walk you home? I'd hate for one of our fans to get hurt." Without saying anything she linked her arm around mine and gave me a big white grin.
"That would be so fab! I live like just around the corner, it's not very far off." She started walking down the street enthusiastically in her high heels and small dress that needed to be two sizes bigger.
On the walk I tried to talk to her about music, which was the only thing I could think of at the time.
The only songs of ours she knew of were Helena and I'm Not Okay.
She didn't know which member was which and she only knew them as the guy with the hair, the guy with the glasses and the drummer.
I was her favorite and she kept trying to (not so subtly) say I was good looking.
Yes I was good looking, I was also creeped out.
I was kinda glad she wasn't a real fan, if I had to feed off a real fan I'd feel guilty and horrible. Since its someone like her, not so much.
We stopped outside an apartment complex and she stood there grinning at me with her arm still linked with mine.
"You're like such a nice guy to walk me back, do you want to come up for a drink or something? It's the least I could do." I knew she wasn't talking about drinks, plus she was looking at me with a smile I recognized from meeting groupies.
"Sure, that sounds great." This sucks, I wish I was still human so I could avoid having to do this.
Not only having to put myself in this situation but having to feed off people.
Her living room was large and fashionably designed and had so much high tech stuff going on it was crazy.
She flipped off her high heels while walking towards the kitchen, searching for some form of alcohol.
From watching her stumble a bit I didn't think it would be a good idea for her to drink any more.
"So what kind of drink do you want?" She went into a pantry and I sat on the bench while she searches for something.
"Whatever's fine." She brought out a bottle of what looked like whiskey and sat on the bench next to me with a huge grin.
"Oh my god, I can't believe Frank Iero is in my kitchen, this is like so awesome. You're the lead guitarist right?" I got handed the bottle after she took a sip from it and the burning in my throat amplified until I put it out with a huge drink from the bottle.
"How did you get a place like this?" I gave her the bottle back and tried my best to listen as she told me about her Dad who bought her the flat.
Jessie seemed like a classic version of the cliché daddy's girl.
"Do you want a tour of the place?" I glanced at the clock on the wall, it was almost four in the morning.
My mind went to Fallyn, I hope she doesn't wake up before I get back.
"That would be awesome." She grinned, clapped and jumped of the bench, then began dragging me around her apartment, showing me every tiny detail.
The kitchen, living room, bathroom, her walk in closet, I don't understand why a girl needs a walk in closet, it's point is lost to me.
"This is my bedroom." I looked at the pink room with even pinker covers and remembered the time at the mall when Fallyn talked about her intense dislike for the color.
"It's very, pink." No matter how hard I tried I'd never like that color I came from a freaking rock band, it's impossible for me to like pink.
"I know right! I'm gonna go and get changed, this outfit is so tight it's crazy." It's obvious it was tight, she looked like she'd be lucky to have blood flow by the time she took it off.
Jessie skipped off to the walk in closet and left the door wide open.
My mind instantly categorized her as a groupie, there was one at every concert and we nearly always fed from them.
It was an unspoken rule that real fans are off limits.
I'd be on my way back to the hotel within the next twenty minutes with Starbucks and the taste of someone's blood in my mouth. I dropped down on the bed and my head sunk into the plushy duvet, even her ceiling was pink, draw the line you crazy Oompa Loompa.
The ceiling and walls was also littered with posters of various singers, groups and bands.
Most of them were of that Justin Bieber kid and One Direction, there were one or two of Gerard and I but no group photos of the band.
"This is soo much better!" Jessie jumped onto the bed next to me and grinned. There was no chance the new clothes she wore were more comfortable, her top was tiny and was she even wearing a bra?
"It was so sweet of you to walk me back." She pronounced the word so as sooooo, her Dad was rich, she should have access to a thesaurus and a dictionary.
"I'm a chivalrous guy." I was probably using a word she didn't understand, the vacant expression on her face confirmed it.
"Well, is their some way I could say thank you for being so nice?" This is so horrible and awkward, I don't like being hit on.
She didn't wait for a response and moved to laying halfway on top of me, which made my throat burn and my soul cringe.
First order of business when I get back to New Jersey, find someplace where I can buy blood.
"You are so hawt." Her lips pressed against my mine and I could literally feel the thick layer of lipstick that coated her lips. So this it me, Frank Iero, being kissed against my will by an Oompa Loompa in a bright pink bedroom that hurt my eyes.
Knowing she'd try to French kiss me I let the special sleep enzyme which knocked people out seep into my mouth, it tasted like sleep.
Her tongue touched mine and couple of seconds later she slumped onto my chest, proof my chloroform ability actually worked.
Jessie would wake up in two hours feeling like she'd had the best sleep of her life, along with a great dream of meeting 'the lead guitarist' of My Chemical Romance.
My teeth sharpened into points and the burning in my throat got even more intense, knowing what was about to happen.
I moved her wrist up to my mouth and looked at it for a moment, reminding myself to apply self control and to not kill her.
~~~

I stepped out of the apartment and jogged down the steps, enjoying the giddy feeling that ran rampant through my body.

I'd managed to control myself, Jessie was breathing soundly asleep in her bedroom, the bite marks on her neck were healed up and she would think she'd gotten really drunk then went home and crashed.
My cell rang and I answered it before the third ring.

"Hey, Gee. What's up?" I'd started walking in the general direction of the hotel with a spring in my step.

"I'm really craving some Starbucks, have you finished up yet. Please tell me you didn't kill whoever you fed from."

I'd drunk as much blood as possible but since it had been three weeks since I'd fed I wasn't entirely satiated. Anymore drinking would have to wait 'til the next city, or truck stop.
Being full made my powers much stronger so I decided to run back to the hotel, it didn't make me tired and it saved time.

"Nup! She's happily sleeping, I controlled myself. Do you still want Starbucks? I'm feeling in a kind and generous mood." On the other end of the line Gerard laughed, while I grinned.

"Get me a large, I'm practically on withdrawals, I only had one yesterday." Gee was a coffee addict in every sense and he drank Starbucks like he wrote songs.

"Okey-doke! I'll be back in ten minutes, leave the window open." I snapped the phone shut and stopped outside a Starbucks that had just opened.

I had no idea they operated this early in the morning. Before I went in I took a glance at my shirt, it had a small amount of blood on it so I zipped my jacket up.

"Hi and welcome to Starbucks, how can I help you?"

I made an order for coffee, tea and a shitload of pasties and sandwiches. None of us did much cooking when on tour, we'd eat cereal and stuff like that but most cooking would be for show. As per the burgers we had on Fallyn's first day with us.
I collected my order and walked out the shop and walked away before giving up on walking and switched to running.
It took me about four minutes and I was outside the hotel window with my hands full of food and easily spillable tray of drinks.

'Gee, is the window open?' I asked him mentally because I couldn't yell from here and I was unable to get my cell from my pocket.

'Yep, come on up, I'll reimburse you for everything if you can get in here without spilling the coffee.'
This strengthened my determination to get into the room.

'Deal.'

I placed myself in front of the window and jumped. My feet landed on the soft carpet of Gee's room and I grinned, fuck yeah!
The coffee tray was in one hand and six pastry and sandwich filled paper bags in the other.

Gerard frowned, feeling cranky because of his lost but smiled when he took a sip of his coffee.
We didn't need to eat but still took pleasure from it so we didn't eat like normal people and stuffed out faces as much as possible because weight gain wasn't an issue.

"My wallets on the coffee table." With a victorious grin on my face I got the money out and left four bags and five coffees on the table, enough for the guys when they woke up or came to Gee's room.

"I'm gonna have a nap and change my shirt, I'll see you whenever I can be bothered." Gerard nodded and continued drinking his coffee like an addict while I went back to my room with two bags of food, a coffee and a latte girly thing.

The door for my room was slightly ajar and I frowned, I was positive I'd locked it. Fallyn was sprawled out on the bed underneath the rugs and I laughed, doesn't look like she'll be waking up 'til midday.
I put the food on the table and looked at the clock on the nightstand.

The time on the clock said 3:33, okay that's weird and creepy on multiple levels.
My phone said it was ten minutes to six, maybe it was a preprogrammed prank that happened to everyone.

With a sigh I switched back to my sleep clothes and got into the bed again I moved closer to her.
Her blonde hair hung over her eyes and I brushed it away, as the tips of her hair touched her face long red streaks were left on her cheek.

What the fuck?
My nose recognized the scent, blood.
I pulled the rugs back and saw the crimson liquid that soaked her pajamas and pale skin.
Not a drop was on the black blankets, it stuck to her skin, still wet.

"Fallyn?" I turned her over and felt my mouth hang slack as my mind realized for the first time just how much blood was actually on her.

I tried to listen for a heartbeat and heard nothing.
No, no, no, she couldn't have killed herself, this can't of happened. She was smiling and happy.
I held up her wrist and looked at it, a long deep line ran all the way up her arm, similar to the time I accidentally cut her with my spiked wristband.
There was no knife near or around the bed, how is her wrist slit?

The brochure said Evangeline and Ella walked the halls with a butcher knife, is this what did this?
Fallyn said she saw something glowing in the elevator.
But how the fuck could a ghost do something like this?
With no usable sharp object around me I grew my fangs and bit into my hand, leaving a bleeding cut I used to heal the slashes on her wrists.

The wounds closed then faded to pale scars. This will mean she's died twice in only six days, it's too much. For some reason her blood wouldn't stick to my skin, but stuck to her like glue, it's like I'm waterproofed.

I lent over her and bit her neck, giving her the vampire made jump start which would bring her back to life. My lips and fangs were in contact with her skin for five seconds before her heart let out a small thump.
I drew back and hid my fangs while her bright, sea green eyes fluttered open and she looked at me with a startled expression on her face.

"W-w-what happened, I was having a nightmare and Evangeline, she tried to kill me with a knife. She cut my wrists." She moved incredibly quickly for a human who'd just came back from life and before I knew it her arms were wrapped around my neck.

This is my fault, if I didn't leave her this wouldn't have happened.

"It's okay, everything's fine, you're fine." She buried her face in my neck and I felt her heart beating fast against my chest.

"Frankie, why is there blood everywhere?" She looked at her arms, they looked like they'd been dipped in fake blood or red paint.

"Your wrists were cut, I woke up and went to talk to Gerard in his room. I came back and your wrists were slit, wrist to elbow." I'd said too much, she'd want to know how her wrists were healed.

"You saved me, was it the magic you told me about?" It took me a minute to realize what she was talking about and I smiled when the pieces clicked together.

"Yeah, it was the magic." She nodded, maybe I would be able to tell her about us being vampires.

"I trust you, Frankie." Her use of my nickname made me smile as she let me go and smiled back.

"Do you want to use my shower?" Blood was still on her face, body and pajamas but she smiled through it.

"That'd be good. Would it be to much for me to ask you to get my duffle bag from my room? I don't want to go near that fucking place." She clamoured off the bed and walked toward the bathroom, looking incredibly uncomfortable.

"No problem." She was surprisingly relaxed considering she'd magically woken up after having her wrists cut.

Huh, if she's taking it this easily then it should be no problem telling her about the vampire thing tonight.

The only thing that I didn't like was the misspelling of ridiculous. Every time. xD
But otherwise, it was awesome.
