Gerard's POV
I wound through the streets of the outskirts, not entirely aware of where I was going. All thoughts of finding the Getaway Mile had gone and now I wanted nothing more that to just get out of this cursed city. I felt terrible of course. He had been alive and I had just ran like everyone else. I was also pretty pissed off at Frank right now. This had been all his idea, if he hadn't gone running off to blow up Korse we wouldn't have had to come after him and Mikey wouldn't have died. We also wouldn't have come all this way to get out of this messed up place just to find my supposedly dead brother standing in the middle of the road. If it wasn't for Frank he wouldn't have "died" and he wouldn't be a Bat and we wouldn't be in this fucking mess. Because now we also had to reverse whatever BL/ind had done to him and no one knew how to do that, maybe it was even impossible. Well fuck.
"You right?" Frank asked from beside me.
"No I am not fucking alright, Frank. You think finding him makes everything alright? He's a Bat now, he might never be himself ever again and you're asking me if I'm alright? It's you're fault you know, you thought you could just blow up Korse and everything would be alright. Well you were wrong. So to answer your question, I'm not o-fucking-kay." I finished my little rant and looked over at Frank for a second. He had shrunken into his seat and he looked very small and alone.
"I'm sorry." He whispered. "You can drop me on the side of the road if you want, I'll be fine. Maybe I'll get shot and everyone will be happy."
I sighed. "That's not want I want Frank, I'm sorry I just… I don't even know."
"No, that's okay, I probably deserved that and it is all my fault." He said.
I didn’t reply. I felt bad now that I had upset Frank more than he already was. The car went into silence. I glanced in the rear view mirror for a second and looked at Mikey. He had curled up against the side of the car and was now asleep. At least he still had some of his old traits. It didn’t change the fact that now he was nearly the equivalent to a Zombie. I looked at Ray too for a second, he was staring out the window obviously trying to ignore Mikey's existence.
"You want me to drive for a bit? You're going pretty fast." Frank mumbled.
I replied by slowing down and stopping. We switched and he picked up where I had left off, but at much slower speed. I guess I had been going a bit fast. Oh well, we're still alive. I closed my eyes and tried to sleep. Yea, like was going to happen.
A little while later I opened my eyes again and saw that we were once again in the desert. A familiar piece of desert. We were going back to see Dr Death.
"Why Dr Death?" I asked.
"He knows a lot of people, he might know someone who knows how fix that." He jerked his head towards Mikey as he said the last part.
"What if it's irreversible?" I asked.
"Then I don't know." He said. "We can't kill him."
"He's probably better off dead than living like that." I said bitterly.
"Then I guess you'll be the one to shoot him." Frank said angrily. "I can't believe you just said that."
Once again, I was silent. Of course I didn't want Mikey dead, I just didn't like the idea of him being a Bat for the rest of his life. "That's not what I meant, Frank." I retorted.
"Well what did you mean?"
"I don't know."
He sighed. "Well I guess we'll just have to figure it out then and hope that someone can do something about it."
I just stared out the window.

Notes

Wow, 30 chapters, that is a lot, well for me anyway. So I have to stay at my grandparents house over the wekend, which means no wifi, which means no updates for a few days. So I'll update when I'm connected again. Have a nice weekend guys. :) I'll see you on Monday. Geez, that sounds like something a teacher would say.
