The Getaway Mile

Chapter 16: Escape

Frank's POV
I still had nothing. My hands still stung from my earlier attempt to escape and the white of these walls was really starting to get to me, it was too bright, too white. I huffed in frustration, and I was on the verge of just giving up and waiting to die here. If it was my time, it was my time. No, I couldn't think like that, I had to get out of here and find the others. I had failed in my original plan, to take and Korse and get us all out of here, past the red line and into the unknown. I had succeeded in taking out Korse, I had gotten the revenge that I had wanted. "Three cheers for sweet revenge." I muttered to myself, the pain of my broken jaw shot through me and I winced slightly. But BL/ind hadn't even staggered, hadn't even stopped for a moment, they had just gotten a new leader and dumped me in here.
At least my rib had stopped hurting, well at least I thought it had, it had kinda just faded into the background, now that I was actually thinking about it, I could feel it throbbing. I just slid further down the wall until I was lying on my back again, my hands lying awkwardly underneath me, the handcuffs digging into the skin on my back. Meh, it was more comfortable than sitting.
At some point I closed my eyes and when I opened them again, Siren was standing over me. Fuuck. He had the most evil smile I have ever seen on his face.
"So Mr Ghoul, where would your friends be? I would very much like to know so that I can offer them my help." He said.
And then it hit me, I could send them on a wild goose chase. I could just make up some areas for them to search in and then be all like, "Oh they must have moved". Then while they were distracted with that I could figure out a way to escape, they would probably be depleting their supply of Scarecrows trying to find the others, so getting out should be easy enough.
"Uh, Tupelo Street on the western side. The outskirts." I said, trying to move my mouth as little as possible, it still hurt like a motherfucker.
Siren smiled. "I see you're still in pain, Fun Ghoul." He said before he turned and left me by myself.
Frank, one. Siren, zero. And he probably thought that he was winning. My first priority was to get out of these cuffs. I wasn't just going to wriggle my way out of these things. Maybe I could pretend that I had to pee. "HEY!" I yelled. A Scarecrow opened the door. "I have to pee." I said, trying not to smile. The Scarecrow walked over to me and undid the handcuffs, it ushered me a corner with a drain. Yuck, these people were gross. "Isn't there a toilet or something?" I asked. It gestured to the corner. At least I was gonna get out of here. I pretended to undo my pants, then I just turned around and punched the Scarecrow clean in the face. It staggered in shock and I used that time to give it another blow to he face and a kick to the stomach when it hit the floor. Satisfied, I started to pull off it's uniform and put it on, it smelled really weird. I took my first proper look at the unconscious body in front of me, it was ghostly pale and had wires coming from it's head that were connected into a box that was fastened to it's chest. Darth Vader much. I took it's ray gun from the floor next to it and walked out as casually and robotically as I could. The room next to me had a large metal table with the contents of my bag scattered across it. Man, the gods were shining down on me today. I opened the door and the Scarecrow inspecting my ray gun looked around, I held up the white ray gun and pulled the trigger, killing the one at the table. I picked up my green ray gun off the floor and threw all my stuff into my bagbefore slinging it over my shoulder. I started to make my way through the building, there were hardly any windows, the ones I did pass were too small for me to get through. I kept walking, I ran into about two Scarecrows and both of them were dead in seconds.
Luckily, I never ran into Siren. I eventually walked into a room that was fairly open. The windows were bigger than the others that I had seen and there was a glass door at the front, it had "Thank You For Visiting Better Living Industries" above it. Ugh, they were so unoriginal. I walked over to the door and opened it, walking out into a nearly deserted street with hardly any buildings. Well that went incredibly well, the only problem was that I had no idea where I was.

Notes

Okay, so I finally have wifi again! So sorry about the wait, I should be updating regularly again, but it might be a bit slower than before, like maybe every couple days, I'm teetering on the edge of getting writer's block, I know how I want the story to end, but I'm not sure how to get there.
Also thank you for the support in my last update, it made me feel a little better and a little less lonely. So until next time...
