I'd Be Another Memory

Chapter 3

"Stop staring!" Lexie shouted to the room of people. Amber's face was a deep red and she was outrageously embarrassed. And everyone was staring at her still, despite her friend's screams. "I'm gonna go get some fresh air," she said. "I'll be back, promise." She walked past her friend and out the back door, into a group of guys talking about music. The cute guy from inside was among them, smoking a cigarette. He looked at her as she pushed past them all and smiled a really sexy smirk. She returned the smile and sat on a cold bench near a fence, running her fingers through her hair and sighing heavy. Trying hard not to, she couldn't help but keep looking at that guy. He caught her looking at one point and smirked again, pardoning himself from the current conversation to come sit down next to Amber. "You look like you could use a cigarette," he chuckled, offering one from his pack of Marlboro Reds. "Actually, yeah, I could. Thank you." She replied, taking one and putting it into her mouth, leaning towards his lit cigarette and touching it with hers. One big puff and she lit it. His cheeks turned a light shade of red from her coming so close to his face. She noticed and giggled. "Rough night?" He asked, crossing his legs and leaning against the side of the bench, looking at all her delicate features. "Yepp," she admitted, sighing again. She didn't want to burden this guy with a whole life story. "But, who cares. It'll get better, tomorrow... will be better." Her lips curled into a wide smile. "Wanna take a walk?" He asked, kind of randomly. "Weird, I know. But I think we'd have a lot in common," he said, gesturing to her shirt then to his. Hers had a rib cage with a bloody heart sticking out from it while his had a less gory ribcage with the Misfits logo plastered on top of it. She burst into a loud laugh. "You think we'd have a lot in common because our shirts have similar art?" Her laugh continued into her sentence. "I think this is just an excuse to get me alone." His eyes got bigger and he turned an even darker shade of red. "Well, will it work?" His eyes were a brilliantly gorgeous shade of green and it gave Amber a bad case of butterflies when he looked at her. "Mom always told me to not go places with strangers..." she started. "We're not strangers if you know my name..." "No... let's be strangers... It's adventurous," she confessed, standing and pulling him to a stand. "Let's take a walk, stranger." She giggled a bit as he followed closely. Her whole life she lived it safely, why not live dangerously, she thought. 'Reckless!' Lexie would scream. And it was, very reckless, but she didn't care.
