Young and Loaded
Confrontations: Part One
The pit grew in my stomach, with an aching that would not let up. I gripped the edge of the counter harder, bracing myself as I waited for the pain to pass. Slowly, I began to breath in and out, blocking out anything and everything.
I did not hear a vehicle pull up to the house. I did not notice the door silently open and close. I did not notice the uncomfortable silence.
I rough hand grabbed my shoulder, and violently pushed me against the closest wall. I kicked and struggled against my attacker, only to have him press his ray gun to my head. I glared up through my bangs to see my attacker.
His piercing eyes met mine, and one corner of his mouth raised into an undeniable sneer.
Korse.
"Well, well, well. It seems like you are a long way from home," he said, the smirk never leaving his pale face.
"Mind you, I'm on reconnaissance." I spat the words out, with as much intimidation as I could muster.
Korse laughed wickedly. "I know what you are really doing out here. I know about your friends. I know that you are giving them inside information. Either you back off, or I ghost everyone you have left. And it will not stop there, oh no. I will make sure you suffer. I will make you wish that you would have never survived the aftermath."
I didn't say a word. His black eyes were lit up with rage, and he pressed his white ray gun harder against my skin. It was cold, and the feeling chilled me to the bone. I shivered, giving away my fear.
Korse was satisfied by this, and slowly pulled the gun away. His arm still pressed against my shoulder though.
"You work for BL/I. You gather information for our cause, and you get to live. That's how this system works. I expect a full report as soon as you are done with your... reconnaissance."
He let go of me, slowly backed out of the room. Before he reached the door, he turned to face me.
"Remember Rivine, we see everything."
Korse then left, slamming the door behind him. The silence quickly followed. My ears rung, and my shoulder was on fire from where he pinned me.
Tears quickly formed in my eyes, and I was overwhelmed by it all. If I did not cooperate, everyone I loved would die. Everything I loved would be taken away. And once again, I would be alone, wasting away out of my own fear and loneliness.
