Us vs. Them

Putting My Defenses Up

I sped off on down the road, ignoring Ray throwing a cactus branch at the car in rage. I just gunned it again and kept my eyes forward, knuckles white against the black wheel. I bit the inside of my cheek to keep the tears from falling.

How dare he blame me for Nana's death?
HOW
FUCKING
DARE
HE.

I pulled into a Dead Pegasus station about 200 miles east of the little house. I shut the car off and pull the key out of the ignition. Sighing, I rest my head on the steering wheel.

"Why do you do this, Ray? Every fucking time we're together.."

I looked up into the mirror and noticed my pupils were dilated. Jesus fuck, what's going on? I reached back to my bag to grab my Carbons but much to my dismay, they were still on the kitchen table.

"Fuck," I muttered, reaching in to pull out my RayGun. "Gotta do it their way, I guess." I opened the car door and stepped out, slamming the door closed and shoving the gun in its holster. I pulled my mask on over my eyes and applied a light layer of red lipstick in the side mirror. Perfect.

I walked into the gas station and looked around. Just a bunch of youngsters, really. No older than their early 20's. Well, they're about to meet their fucking match.

"Alright, kiddies, reach for the sky!" I hollered as soon as I stepped in the joint. A few people looked at me with a confused look. I pulled out my pistol and shot a round off. "NOW!"

Hands flew up and lips kissed the floors. I pocketed anything I could: cash, which was rare, Carbons, ammo, chargers, batteries. I slid over to the coolers and pocketed a few cooled sandwiches. Shoving them in my bag, I turned around, RayGun out and aimed, and slid out the door, bowing before exiting stage left.
-------------------------------------------------------------

It's been days without them. Days without Chaos. I sighed and sat up in the backseat, resting my head on the window. I fucking hate being alone. I looked around the vehicle, my eyes searching for the one thing that was never around.

Hope.

Sighing, I pulled my tshirt over my head. Smoothing my hair back and pulling it up in its usual style, I opened the back door and stepped out. The tshirt was like a fucking dress on me, holy shit. Looking down at it, I realized it one of Mikey's. I brought the collar up to my face and inhaled him once again: Old Spice and denim.

I reached back into the car and pulled out my dark jeans. Stepping into the, I looked across the sand. The sun was just rising and a few vultures panned across the sky. Beautiful, actually. I zipped my pants and pulled my boots, walking away from myself. I walked over to a cliff of rocks and sat down, tucking my left leg under my right and cascading my right leg over the side. I looked up at the sun and bit my lip, sighing.

I cracked my neck, relaxing. I leaned on my arms and sighed again, replaying the last few days. I had robbed a store. Check. I had stolen things from people I don't know, something I don't do. Check. Lose my brother? Again? You bet your sweet ass.

I tilted my head back and let the morning sun kiss my neck. I was too lost in thought to even notice the scuff of boots on the rocks.

"Well, what do we have here?"

Notes

Yeah, yeah. I know, it sucks.
