It was a chilly Saturday, and I had on Gerard’s jacket. He had taken me to this run down carnival, and we were standing in front of the stupid ring toss game.
“Come on Gee, the guys are waiting for us.” I remember saying.
“Go on babe, I’ll catch up. Just let me finish here. I’ll meet you over by the Ferris wheel with the guys in five minutes.” He responded.
I walked over to the guys, and told them Gerard was going to be a minute.
“He’s still at that game. I don’t understand that boy.” I said with a VERY dopey smile on my face. We had been going out for almost a year and today had been perfect.
About ten minutes later, Gerard walked over and grabbed my hand.
“Guess what?” he whispered into my ear. “I won.” With that, be produced one of those over-sized teddy bears and hugged me with it. I turned around and kissed him, right there. There were lots of stares, from people we knew, as well as people we didn’t.
With my hand wrapped around his neck and his around my waist, we stood there for a good five minutes, just staring at each other. Everyone else had to extremely awkward looks on their faces. I didn’t feel awkward at all, because I loved him.
“I love you.” I whispered at him. He picked me up, (Even though I said I hated it, I really loved it) and kissed me again.
“I love you too. A lot.”
