Not So Bulletproof Hearts

Kats POV (From during the concert)

We raced over to the stage just in time to see the guys starting their performance, I’m not sure how many songs I’d missed but I didn’t care, I was here. I could finally listen to my best friends doing what they do best and Frank of course. I looked up to the stage, I looked at Frank. He caught my gaze immediately. He looked so different on stage, he looked so powerful, so gorgeous.

Frank walked over to the microphone, breathing heavily, exhausted from the last song but ready to perform again. “Umm, thanks for being here tonight guys, I’d like to dedicate this next and final song ‘The World Is Ugly’ to my girlfriend, Kat. She… she means so much to me.” My mouth dropped open and a single tear fell on my cheek. As the crowd parted directly in front of me I stared at him, gob smacked. Frank was dedicating this song to me? Stepping back from the pic, Gerard took his place.

With a single nod at the drummer at the back the music began, growing louder and more passionate by the second. Every drum beat pounded in time with my heart bringing me closer and closer to the music. Gerard’s lyrics fell from his lips as beautifully as the first few snowflakes of winter falling from the sky. I glanced over to Frank, the concentration and passion engraved on the smile on his face. Sweat dripped down over the scorpion tattoo, he threw his head back as Gerard burst into a passionate, heartfelt chorus.

“That the world is ugly
But you’re beautiful to me
Are you thinking of me
Like I’m thinking of you.”

My soul was engulfed by the passion and meaning of his lyrics, with tears dripping down my face I pounded the air with my fist. Never before had I felt so loved by Frank, by the band, by the crowd that surrounded me. I watched Frank for the rest of the performance, he dived around the stage passionately, throwing his head back and putting every bit of energy and love he had into making that song the best it could be.

The second the song ended my eyes flooded with tears. “Tha...that was beautiful.” I breathed. The crowd soon began to slip, people walked off in different directions in search of the next good act. My feet were glued to the floor. I wanted to run up to Frank and throw my arms around him but I was so shocked and amazed my legs seemed to have died beneath me. Me and Frank stared at each other across the stretch of grass were the audience once stood.

Frank put his guitar down and slipped off the stage, jogging towards me with what energy he managed to salvage. He collapsed his arms around my, his sweaty, hot body pulsating against mine. Sniffling back the tears I pulled back to look at him. “Frank… that was amazing. Thank you.” My eyes welled with tears again as he looked proudly at me.

“I love you, angel. I really do, that song was for you but words could never match up to the love I feel.” I slipped my hand through his sweaty hair and kissed him passionately. I bit down on his lip and giggled. Slowly pulling back I whispered “I love you too, Frank. My heart beats for you and only you.” At that we sunk into another deep passionate kiss. Our hearts pounding together in the heat of the moment.

Franks POV

By now I was exhausted but I’d never been so happy. I mean I wanted to make it up to her but I never imagined it would feel this amazing to tell her how I felt. I sent a mental note to Gerard as I embraced her in my arms. “Thanks, Gee. I owe you one.”

I held Kat’s hand, slipping my fingers in between hers and we walked back down the field together. We stopped at a few stalls along the way, browsing the merchandise but nothing caught my eye. As we set off back to Gerard’s car to help him load the increments I heard someone shout me. “HEY, FRANK! GET OVER HERE!” I abruptly turned around to See Mikey, Ray and Gerard himself taking to a tall man in formal clothing. Ray beckoned me over to them. “I’ll be back in a minute, angel. Ray wants me for something.” I smiled at Kat and left her to finish fumbling through racks of black tee shirts.

“Hey, Frank we got some news bro.” Gerard smiled excitedly at me through his messy hair. I turned to the unknown gentleman and waited for him to explain what was going on. “Well. I’ve seen you boys performing today.” He began. “I’m very impressed.” Ray tilted his head puzzled. “Thanks but why did you wanna see us about it?” the man laughed and put his hands together. “Let me introduce myself. I’m Brian Schechter from Eyeball records. You boys are very talented and frankly I’d like to sign you to my label.” My mouth dropped open. Mikey gulped and in a shaky voice, said “are you serious…?”

Brain smiled enthusiastically and looked at Gerard. “I hear you write the songs, am I right?” he nodded, speechless. “we… we’ve already written an album. It’s called ‘I brought you my bullets, you brought me your love.’ We’re dying for people to hear it. We’ve put so much effort in.” Brian nodded understandingly and smiled again. “that’s great, we’ll I’d like you all to come down to the office in California to sign the contracts, we’ll get you some gigs there so you can build a bit of a fanbase and then we’ll set you off on tour!” Gerard let out a girly squeal and I rolled my eyes. “Great, when do you want us there?” I said optimistically. Brain pulled a blackberry from his pocket and studied it closely. “Next Friday, no later. I want you on the road by the end of the month!”

“We’ll be there” Ray said hooking his arm around Mikey who was smiling awkwardly at Brian. “Brilliant. Thanks for your time. I’ll see you in California. Oh and if you plan on signing the contract make sure your bags are packed you won’t be home for a while.” At that Brian walked away. We were still so shocked, Gerard seemed to have turned into an over excited teenage girl, Ray was hugging Mikey to the point where it looked like he couldn’t breathe and I was just silent. Shocked but excited, until a sudden thought passed my mind. I’ll have to leave Kat in New Jersey…
