Raindrops
who?
I was driving home from Ray’s house, but it was really late. It was dark, and pouring.
I was driving slowly, so I didn’t skid or slide into anything, and trying to watch out for other cars and people, while reading street signs.
It’s hopeless, I’m lost.
I pulled down a residential street nowhere near my apartment, and almost hit something. It looked like a person, but it could have been a big dog. I grabbed my umbrella and walked into the downpour. The umbrella offered little protection, but I need to check on whatever was in the road.
I stood in front of the car, looking around. Then I heard it.
It sounded like muffled sobs.
I followed the sound to the curb, where a man, who looked a little younger than me, was sitting. He hadn’t seen me yet, and it looked like he was crying.
“Nice night for a stroll, isn’t it?” My voice was barely audible over the rain. The kid looked up in surprise.
“I-I’ve got nowhere else.” He said with a sad smile “I’m not wanted at home”
The poor guy was soaking wet and shivering. I gave in a sad smile
“I know the feeling.” I sat down next to him and covered both of us with the umbrella. “I lived with my best friend when I was younger because of an abusive dad.”
He looked over at me in surprise. “I had a friend come live with me because of an abusive dad…”
“Oh, really? Weird…..” I turned towards him. He wasn’t as young as I thought. Could it be?
I looked him over. His hair was shorter, and he now had a nose ring, but still a lip ring. And I swear that was a scorpion on his neck…
“F-Frankie?” I croaked.
“Gerard. Long time no see buddy.” He leaned over and wrapped his arms around me.
“Frank… I missed you so much.”
